Lmao i love Corey's transition: "You don't need to bother..." To "I WANNA SLIT YOUR THROAT AND FUCK THE WOUND"
+Liviana Dumitru From Charlie Sheen's diary.
I know! BEST TRANSITION EVER xD
I know right! 🤣🤣
Mikael Åkerfeldt is literally the first person I thought of when I read the title
Same!
He should be #1
Same
SAME
Yeah without a doubt top of the list. Im a massive tool fan but its not even close. Devin probably comes second.
Just gotta say that Dir En Grey vocalist is actually insane, the fact he can go full Danny Filth shriek to corpsegrinder growl and that he can switch between the two instantaneously whilst also being a legit vocalist is awesome
Agreed.
and his work in Sukekiyo with opera style vocals in songs like Elisabeth Addict, Kyo is by far my favourite vocalist he's so fucking talented and he can do every style while being entirely self taught
He destroyed his voice doing what he was doing, it was so bad he needed surgery. I think he does it correctly now, but the dude fucked up his voice.
Just gotta say. He totally sucks
@@moeveggies2292 if you can do it then I'll believe you
Mike Patton in the list is an understatement. His voice can create whole universes and drown them into a void in a fraction of a second.
If Mike Patton wanted to, he could perfectly scream like Corpsegrinder and sing like Robert Plant
He is the best voice since 1990
@@thefrontline22 definitely one of the best in rock history
I learned this in my science class, actually.
Kyo is better fs
I fall asleep to disasterpiece every other night
Literally me
Amon Amarth is good to sleep with or work in the office with head phones.
I do same bruhh
What’s the other night?
I sleep listening to Thy Art Is Murder tho😂😂😂
Mike Patton's voice is fucking amazing...
I agree...he's genious status.
+thejoosty1 One of the most underrated singer of all time.
oiurehj
Indeed...
+wat
Mine too mate. Oh look Angel Dust for my profile pic, only the most influential album of all time
+oiurehj why underrated?? i mean, in every discussion about vocal versality (or quality) patton is one of the most praised vocalist... i mean, he's is even from one of the most influent and popular bands of the 90's... i really don't think he's underrated at all!! he is, happily, very well recognised!!
Mikael Akerfeldt and Devin Townsend - two genius of prog, two genius of metal, two genius of vocal 🤘🤘🤘
Two great friends
meraba abim irakli giorgashvili
Would Love to see the project with thw two finaly work
Devin is unparalleled.
Chino Moreno has such a beautiful voice, so special, I love his voice
❤❤❤
Maynard's second clip did him no justice at all, his scream from Jerk-Off would've been a good example
Or any one of those clips from one of those best live screams compilation videos...In some of them, it is actually unsettling to see the look in his eyes. "Like, uhm, are we supporting a sociopath, er uh...?"
Completely agree. Maynard has a very impressive and controlled scream, imo and while Ticks and Leeches sounds awesome in the clip they included here, it really is not an example of his actual vocal capabilities.
It's an example of some of the audio effects they use to create an unsettling atmosphere.
XNancyxBoyX Yeah, agreed. His scream on The Grudge is pretty good too
Yeah, I agree. The voice filter really didn't do him any justice. Which sucks because I fucking love Tool
Kyo is just so fucking underrated...he is one of the most talented vocalist EVER!
This!
+Omar Carro True story. The man has been under surgery how many times because of the way he screams yet he continues to entertain us no matter the cost to his body.
+Charlie Chinchilla So he's basically doing it wrong
You guys are talking about a man who cuts himself and licks his blood on stage. I dont think he gives a single fuck that hes doing it wrong.
Xephyre Ikari Kyo actually has his Emotional Breakdowns onstage under control nowadays
Kyo usually not gets enough credit so I am glad he is listed here
I love Corey Taylor's voice on both ends. To me one of the best singers out there.
He's the reason Slipknot got signed to Roadrunner. They didn't get signed until Corey joined the band
damn, i've never seen devin townsend with hair before. that's scarier than all the voices here combined.
thanks for shaving your head, devin
You're over a decade late, but welcome to the party.
Didn't feel old until I read your comment.
skullet
beni anti
Or him singing why in a dress lol
Yeah, first time I ever heard Devin was when SYL opened for Fear Factory, back when Devin still had his skullet, but even then, it was love at first sight, even after he spit in my face.

0:31 - when you get angry because you must put them together
It's funny because he's Swedish
More like how we swedes are at work and when we get home complaining😂
Brilliant 🤣
Townsend and Akerfeldt have great intonation, control and emotional range clean, *and* can sound absolutely brutal without mic effects. Total legends.
Corey Taylor's voice is just incredible
Maybe add Ville Valo
Glad they put Kyo on the list, finally some acknowledgement for him
Yes!!!
+Elia Niccolini his vocal capabilities are honestly some of the best ive ever seen within the entire genre of metal, he seriously deserves a lot more credit than he gets.
Indeed!
They're better live
The best version of ticks and leeches was filmed on a game boy advance??? REALLY!???
Gameboy Advance? Hell, I thought they filmed it with a potato.
Copyright.....
Copyright, plus the fact that Tool have almost never performed this live. I think they did it for the first time only recently. Maynard lost his voice recording it and swore he'd never sing it again.
@@Patrick-857 not so sure about that saw them prolly 13 years ago and he performed that T&L then cold and ugly. Soooooo uhhhh.....
@@historian3540 There's some truth to what both of you say... It's not something they perform often. It's been said its rough on him. But I've also seen them perform in...in 1 out of the 4 shows i've seen. Probably about that same time period? 2010ish? maybe? It was my favorite show...they performed a lot of ones i had never heard them do in their other shows.
So glad to see Kyo on this list.
i saw this comment before he appeared and got so excited- you dont even know wiehfmiwcqmidjxnlksc
Devin is the greatest human voice I've ever heard. He has EVERYthing. Supreme song writer on top of that too. I feel so lucky to have happened across his music, no matter what era.
Also Tatiana Shmailyuk, oh boy do i love her vocal abilities also. She is incredible !
Nah, Mike Patton is way better than Townsend. In my opinion. Plus, without Patton there would be no devin.
Serj Tankiannnnn ! His calm voice is brilliant but his angry voice is phenomenal =D
Agree

+RaaZVan99 You've got Patton and Townsend here - two geniuses - and yet you mention the bearded clown?
+Benfo G Third genius*
I have seen Dir en Grey live and Kyo is an absolute monster! He does things with vocals that must be heard to be believed.
omg where is Serj Tankian? He's so talented whatever the way he sings
He is, just not that scary, more like a crazy type
@@QuelTipoSulTubo let’s be real, if he walked up to you in an alley and screamed “WHY DO THEY ALWAYS SEND THE POOR” you’d be pretty scared

One extremely underrated vocalist. His vocal range was legendary.
Peter is extremely underrated
I also thought of him right away.

This video introduced me to Dir En Grey, been hooked ever since.
got hooked into sukekiyo yet?
Devilmeow never heard of them, just looked them up I will definitely give them a good listen
I don't see how Kyo still has a voice with all those screams & guttural growls he let's out I love his voice
And somehow his voice just gets better and better with age- like his recent stuff in sukekiyo is so good
@@fghhfhhhf9323 I know his voice is still great & gets better with time
@@sombergirl2886 I guess it's luck and technique to keep your voice and screams sounding good. I mean just look at Mikael Akerfeldt he can't even scream anymore. And Corpsegrinders voice is horsed from the guttural growls
They didn't do Maynard justice here...
Yeah they should of shown that sober live pro shot performance the dude looked psycho as hell
could've shown any of those early opiate/undertow screams. instead we get a super modulated, amplified and distorted noise
+Travis Godfrey Evans My exact thoughts. It was really disappointing.
Besides, I sleep anyways. Maynard's a great vocalist, but even his screams don't scare me all that much. I guess it's just me.
+Bittles La Cheese The "Jerk-Off" scream would've been a good one to show as well I think
Kyo rightfully deserves this place onto here. I saw him live back in May and he scared the shit out of my with out the blue banshee screams
Maynard and Patton are two of the A-list best frontmen ever.
I just knew Chino Moreno was going to be here.
With a throat ache
Yeah
Tatiana shmaylyuk from jinjer should be on here, yu could literally use pisces for either example
This was from 2015
@@bootheguru Plenty of examples of Tatiana in Jinjer prior to this video - 2 albums worth
Markus Meyer yes
Literally the first name to pop up in my mind after reading the title

Serj Tankian.
Thats all I have to say.
Listen to his "solo album" or his orchestra album. And then compare it to his SOAD vocals.
+Sven97Toni toxicity and soad (album) have some fuckin amazing screams and growls
Daddy
Yes
Was just gonna say that
He has nice vocals, but not some that could enter in the term of ''scare to death''
Emi Grant his growls were awesome, could scare anyone
No Phil Anselmo? I'm actually surprised he's not on this list.
Ray Deen
His clean vocals on Planet Caravan are so mello and gentle. Definitely deserves a spot on the list
Phil Anselmo's voice went to hell over 20 years ago with his heroine use.
@@blindskatr156 *heroin, a heroine is a female hero

David Draiman - Disturbed:
-Darkness
-Down with the Sickness
Everyone knows their “The Sound of Silence” cover but I think these two make my point better.
Right! The first time I heard Darkness I was blown away because I thought it was another member of the band singing, David is a great singer!
Uninvited guest is even better technically. Vocals on point. David draiman has to be one of or the best singer front man in history. I think people will realize that later or when he is gone tho. We will all take it for granted until then, then when he leaves this world he will be more famous than ever before. Smh
Damn , Mike Patton scares the shit out of me even when he sing with a soft voice
Check out the cover FNM did of "I Started a Joke".
He's a joke how can he scare you

I honestly wasn't expecting Dir en grey to suddenly appear at the end of the video. Good job.
Joe Duplantier from Gojira? He's such a beast
I wouldn't really say he's the type to sing the average person to sleep lmao
@@TheGuitarifier Mm maybe not the usual stuff from Gojira, but the album Magma got some really soft vibe tunes on it. Low Lands, Shooting Star, and some more
GOJIRA is one of my favorite bands but I have to agree with Brendan. My bigger question-Why are none of the great female metal vocalists on here? Tatianna Shmyluk, Alissa White-Gluz, and even Floor Jansen blow most of this list out of the water.
@@mrmcnipps3971 Id love you to prove me wrong but im pretty sure Floor does no death metal vocals

Yeah, it's like a jumpscare from a horror movie or a horror game.
Just Mikael things
Mike Patton is the greatest vocalist 💖
Fuck yeah! Mike Patton is almost too good for this list, TBH. I'm just wondering where Chris Motherfucking Cornell is? Compare "Hunger Strike" to "Jesus Christ Pose". He had such soulful pipes, and such a chilling scream. OK, I pretend that Soundgarden broke up after Badmotorfinger, but still, the man's voice was godlike!
Its Aquaz bruh i found you on youtube wtf
@@Its_aquaz Kurt Cobain just had a really unique voice, but he wasn't anything special as far as vocal talent goes
@@Its_aquaz um yes it does, your voice is literally just something you're born with, a talent is something you develop, not something you're born with
@@Its_aquaz shit you clearly know nothing about, you're clearly someone who isn't a vocalist, learn what your talking about then come back lil boy
No love for Dir en grey in the comments? Although I suppose no one disputing their inclusion is a good thing.
+Guanjyn Dir en grey is fucking amazing :-)
+Guanjyn I was so stoked to see Kyo at 1 and even Chino of deftones making this list. Kyo is phenomenal.

+Guanjyn I fucking love Dir en grey, and im so happy they included Amorphis to this list
I'm quite surprised no one is mentioning Chester Bennington
I mean, Given Up and its 17-second scream and Shadow of the Day are on the same album (and One More light is even softer)
Chesters screams were way too clean and accurate to be scaring people. (Certainly one of the best vocalist of all time)
I agree, he should be on the list
LMFAO......are you serious? Chester would'nt scare me if he had a machete in one hand and a severed Head in the other
Chester Bennington was a bitch

Till Lindemann - Hallomann
Tom Araya - the unknown Slayer ballad, Angel of death
Bon Scott - Ride on, Night prowler
Tatiana Shmaylyuk - Pisces
Chester Benington - Shadow of the day, Given up
Capitan Pablo yes
Till Lindemann in Puppe is awesome
Tatiana is out of this world!
Chad Kroeger - No songs, any songs
chester bennington, leave out all the rest, one step closer
Devin Townsend takes the cake!
He has a song called things beyond things on his ocean machine biomech record, theres a hidden track of him screaming at the end and it does not sound human!
Right.
That scream on things beyond things is a lot easier than it sounds, it just takes a little practice
@@GoneSoonHopefully yea ok sure 🙁
I always forget about that part, nearly pissed myself a couple times
I love Things beyond things, but the scream in the end ruins the mood of the song for me
Devin is a genius tho
Kyo’s screams are a lot more haunting in person
Props for recognizing Chino, he really embodied both extremes regularly, often in the same song

Ronnie James dio should be on the list. Although him screaming is beautiful too to be honest.
I know right.
So glad to see Kyo on this list. Was able to see Dir En Grey live 3 times here in Holland and his vocals are range are amazing.
Dir en grey is actually like a band from two perspectives you have song slows like "the final", "vinushka" "ain't afraid of die" or even "kasumi" but in the other hand you can have some "obscure" "merciless cult" or "marmalade chainsaw".
Yes! That would've been awesome! #DirEnGreyFamily
Mikael and Corey have such lovely voices! Sucks that David, Chester, Till, and Amy Lee weren’t on this list though…
Chino Moreno 🤘🏻
Not including Peter Steele from Type O Negative on that list is unexplainable :(

Tool is my favorite band but that was a horrible example for Maynard screaming. That didn't show anything that he is really capable of. Just him half assing with that damn megaphone again.
Most of these are horrible examples. They should have just pulled from their albums or at least found better live examples. I think they just did a random search and pulled the first examples they found.

It's damn great seeing Kyo get some spotlight here, one guy that's come up on my radar lately is Michael Lessard from Last Chance to Reason and now The Contortionist. The guy definitely has complete mastery over his voice. He has some really calming vocals, and does some amazing highs and cleans live.
