Generally speaking we call romantic meet-ups where people are trying to get to know each other "dates", but I'm not sure if that's the right word for this context. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful!

It's usually the man goes to the woman's house on a pre-set day with his mother or father or sister or friend or the marriage broker. On that occasion the man gets to see the woman and her family and her home. Then they talk about their ( the man and woman's ) profession, educational qualification ..etc. it's not like dating.

I was extremely surprised to hear the pronunciations of this word .None of them is mine...Moreover, I have never seen the last sign of the description ( I usually use some paper dictionaries-Oxford and Cambridge) and Internet dictionaries, of course ( where I can directly hear the voice).Isn't it a combination of "o", "n" and "g"? So, thank you very much again! (these dictionaries are old ones...before 10 and more years...)..

2) is the stress on the 1st or 2nd syllable?
1) On the screen it is written down, but as she pronounced it, I couldn't hear the R.
The French R isn't rolled, that's why it sounds that way since it is a word of French origin.
@@adenikeb6295 there does not seem to be an agreement among you about the R.. you know poilievre? he says otherwise: on a strict French ancestry view, the R is pronounced. The only reason many don't is because many find it difficult to do so, so most of the time, it pronounced like "poly-yev"

No, it's not wrong at all. The French have also adopted some English words (e.g. hamburger, week-end), but they say them in a French way.

@@ultimatemagic2125 I mean, I technically "agree" with all of them. They're all correct for their respective dialects. The most authentic way is the French pronunciation, but that doesn't mean that saying it the American or British way isn't correct for that region. Plus, most languages steal words from other languages and pronounce them in the style of their language. The French stole the English word for weekend, but they pronounce it with a French dialect. There are many examples in many different languages. I'm currently learning Korean, and you'd be surprised how many words are literally just the English words with a Korean pronunciation 😂. Hamburger is an example of this in both French and Korean

it can be pronounced several ways in english, all of which is wrong except one. cresant is correct
for some reason the french pronunciation or the kwa son pronunciation gets under my skin.. I don't know why but it's an annoying and ugly word to me i hate it.. I can't stand it.. it's like nails on a chalkboard.. I don't know if it's because I heard someone say it and it came off as pretentious and I associate the word subconsciously with being a stuck up pretentious ahole or if it's just an ugly word to my ears.. but it definitely triggers me and pushes my buttons.. it honestly repulses me and makes me want to throw up on the person who said it.. sorry if you're french I'm not trying to be rude..
Both French n English urgently need drastic reform, drop unnecessary letters in a word. That will simplify n make them more sensible n easy to speak or write.
The problem with French is they can pronounce silent letters at the end of words if the next word starts with a vowel sound. If you remove the final letter to reflect the common pronunciation it would mess that all up, which gives it that nice flow. Also double vowels together make their own sounds. Yes the rules of pronunciation tend to be quite overwhelming but once you know them it's not that hard to figure out how to pronounce a new word. There are exceptions here and there unfortunately.

Invented the language? Thats not correct nor how language works. Yes, it came from Britain, but the people of Britain were a mix of different German ethnic groups and the languages gradually homogenized. The printing press helped this process.
