Busy Bee Challenge 1: Which pattern am I sewing?

- Today I’m back with the vlog I think many of you have been waiting for - my introduction to the first of my three makes for the Busy Bee Sewing Challenge 2024 created by the wonderful duo, Christine @geministitches and Sam, alias Sequingirlie Creates, @sequingirlie (thank you, ladies 😀).
This year there are eight UA-camrs taking part, and I’ve linked everyone’s channels down below so do go and give them a watch and subscribe to them if you don’t already. You can find Christine‘s and Sam's introductory vlogs for the challenge in which they talk about the tasks to detail and introduce all the vloggers here:

In the first task, we have each gifted one of the others a pattern of our choice that the recipient is challenged to sew and then release their make in a vlog on UA-cam on Wednesday 31st July.

PRINTED BATIK FABRICS - BS-FAH-CO-1534 - Bombay Stores Fabrics
Lady McElroy Nightlife Tokyo - Marlie-Care Lawn - this link is for Sherwood’s Fabrics, but I bought mine from Sew Wardrobe.
Black cotton with ferns is from Trago Mills in Merthyr Tydfil.
Black cotton with clock faces is from A&M Textiles when I met up with Jess @sowhatifIsew
White floral shirting cotton is from Fabric & Textiles Shop, UK Fabric - Higgs & Higgs (no longer in stock)
Red and pink cotton duvet cover was purchased from a British Heart Foundation charity shop.

I like the clock fabric but agree the red duvet would be very apt, loved hearing a mention of Trago great reasonable fabrics. Have fun with the challenge 😊
Thank you! Lots of love for those two choices coming through in the comments. The nearest Trago to me is Merthyr Tydfil so I don’t get there very often.
Wow that patterns been on my list for ages, you lucky bee! I’d use the large leaf pattern with some of the clock together. Good luck xxx

I love the clocks for the shirt and save the floral for if you make the dress.
Don’t think I’d have enough of the floral for a dress but I know what you mean about the print working for a dress. Thanks for commenting.

I love the white floral for that shirt, and I agree that you could pair it with so many skirts or pants. Dressy enough for work, casual enough for jeans. I also think the navy blue batik, the clocks, or the leaves would be great in that shirt. Any one of those would be a good choice. Looking forward to seeing your finished work. And I subscribed today. Just found your channel.
Thanks for subscribing, and yes I agree the floral would be versatile. Glad you mentioned the batik - I really like it too but no- one else has mentioned it. I think it possibly looks better in real life than on camera.

1) Tokyo Nights (love that fabric), 2) Red duvet & 3) White floral

I've made a dress in the Nightlife Tokyo fabric and I love it. So, that's my choice for your shirt. Happy sewing.

My opinion - Tokyo nights is too busy for those seam lines. Save that fabric for a shift dress or skirt without a lot of seams.
