She paid to get into the show, so what's his complaint? He has the right to complain if he is paying for something and it's not right, but not the other way around.
She paid to get into the show and didn't sit and enjoy it, when someone else could have had her seats and actually enjoyed it. Also, Disturbed is performing and someone is being rude and possibly breaking their concentration, resulting in a lower quality show for everyone else.
Yes, but Disturbed is the paid entertainment for the evening. Fans pay and then do as they wish so long as they are not violent or disruptive. I'm sure lots of people in the crowd were doing things that made it hard to concentrate such as screaming, shouting and whistling loudly among others. That's just what you're going to have to deal with at a rock concert.
Yeah, but maybe it's not only about the money. If I was a singer, I would feel offended too if I'm spilling my lungs out to perform for the crowd and some idiot is staring at their phone - like, why the fuck did you came here if you're not gonna pay attention to the show? It's disrespectful and I would probably react the same, especially if I already had a career and a shit tone of money, just because she paid for a ticket wouldn't change anything. So, yeah, I kinda understand David and he has all the right to get angry about it, he's human after all and many others would probably get pissed off in this situation.
John Miles but I've just explained how maybe he didn't give a fuck about her money and just founded her gesture to be rude. He has the right to get angry. Just because she paid for a ticket doesn't mean anything.
"She thinks that I did something wrong to her". Well, you did just humiliate her in front of the whole crowd simply for using her phone on a concert she paid to hear.

True!!!! Asswipe is what he is! I I have to admit I saw them, but only because Rob zombie opened and left during disturbed. Which now is quite the appropriate name for this guy!
Come to find out, this woman was simply texting her 14 year old daughter because her daughter was in the middle of a severe hail/thunder storm at their home and she was trying to make her daughter feel better!! Chick buys a ticket she can do whatever she wants to do at the concert. Sounds like Disturbed was failing to impress her... not her fault. Douchebag move to call her out like that. C'mon David D, you can do better than that.
Imagine having the attention of 2,000 fans rocking out to your show and you feel like you have to take a full minute to berate a woman not giving you attention. As most mentioned, her daughter was in an emergency, so she was trying to calm her down. It’s one thing for him to mention it, it another thing to completely mortify a fan (likely former fan by now)
Yeah it kinda was. I understand the first 10 seconds but when he kept it going even after she was clearly mortified..honestly I consider myself pretty hard but that would've made me cry and I would have left after that, just because the feeling of being hated by everyone would be horrible.
Disturbed went from okay band to trash band after this... she paid the ticket, she obviously likes them. Sometimes texting you daughter to see if shes okay is more important.
She's putting money in your pocket you tool does it really matter how she chooses to spend her time. Has no one ever went to a concert they weren't a huge fan of just because their friend or spouse wanted to go?
david has a damn good point. it is rude to be on ur damn phone unless ur taking pics or videos. they put allot of time and effort to prepare for shows and honestly this video is better quality and is a better angle thanks
he later apologized when he found out she got a text from her 14 year old daughter who was freaking out at home alone because of a bad storm. she was trying to calm her daughter down.
+Lucas Ackerman Then she should have stepped out. Honestly I'd expect similar to movie etiquette and if someone did that during a movie it'd make no sense and be extremely rude. It sounded like she continually texted her enough for him to notice and call it out, so she had plenty of time to step away. Usually it's better to handle situations like that when you step away anyways. We all have things that come up and some of us try to minimize our own impacts on others. Honestly she should've just apologized and he'd probably had been fine with it.
+Matthew Langley She doesn't have to do jack shit. She fucking paid Drainman to be up there singing. Unless she's disturbing other guests she has the right to do whatever she wants.
+Kevin Cassidy Of course she doesn't have to do anything... Draiman also can perform however he wants, including calling out people who are being disrespectful. I was raised differently however, to consider others and the venue you're at. Again just like you wouldn't start texting during a movie it's disrespectful to do it during a live performance.
+nick delma That point would be valid if he were paying her to listen and watch ,but since she is paid him he should play like he got paid to and be happy there are thousands of other people that did too. There was NO GOOD REASON for him to call her out other than to rile the fans up ,Wasn't right at all
Almost feel bad for the girl. She obviously is a fan if she paid to see them. Who know most likely she was filming the show like most youngsters do these days. Regardless singer kind of pulled a douchy move by calling out the girl who is putting dinner on the singers table.
I heard that she was texting a family member who was in a really bad hail storm at that time. I don't know if that's true or not, but that's what I heard.
Disturbed was wrong for publicly humiliating that girl. She paid, end of story. Your gonna have assholes like this at shows, dude. I don't think I can look at him the same ever again.
One of the most stupidest reasons I've ever heard from this guy. He got hurt that she wasn't watching his show, that she probably paid for to see. So that's on her if she didn't like it, just wasting her money. Also, "If you don't want to watch, don't watch." She did, she didn't watch... I don't know who was ruder, her or him. That's not how you act. Sure, call her out, but don't be so rude just because she was being rude. She was even apologizing but he kept going. He should have just taken the apology instead of trying to make a statement on the "age of the internet." Good music, but what a child like response. He was just mad she wasn't watching.
+Richard T he's a performer, and it's insulting to have someone ignore the band regardless of whether she paid or not. it's the same as if you're going to an orchestral concert or an opera. you wouldn't sit on your ass and look at your phone, you'd pay attention to the performance. it's common courtesy. if you think you're so much more important, then don't bother attending, and if you have an emergency, step out and handle things then come back.
+TeenDream888 She was Rude, he was Rude. Neither of them was respectful to each other. David saw this and has already apologized for it. www.ew.com/article/2016/04/03/disturbed-david-draiman-apology-concertgoer-texting He should of asked what was up. Instead he ranted at her. I understand it was rude, but it was far ruder to rant at her like that. Sense when did it become okay to yell at some instead of simply asking them what is going on. When you are at a movie theater and a person is texting during the movie, does an employee yell at someone to stop and or leave, or does that employee silently gets that person who was texting to stop and or leave? As well, if there is ever something of importance, I will not just put whatever that important thing is on hold just so I can be courteous to those around me. I will first take care of it right then and there. And then if I can get somewhere else I would, but I am sure that is what you meant. That comes from an experience I had.
Bodee Truax Yeah, she could have. He could have also gave her a chance to talk, to have everyone stay silent for a minute to talk to her. To help explain how rude she was being. But she couldn't explain anything, because the crowd was too loud. This is all over now. I still like the band, just difference of opinions on how he handled it. Not like what I say hear is going to affect the band. At least I hope is doesn't.
I can't believe he did that -I mean, if she wants to *_pay_* for a show and then not even *_watch_* it, then get yo money and move along. I'm surprised at how mad he was about it lol.
s0ccer96 Oh, ok. Yeah, that makes sense. I mean, for me personally I wouldn't go to a concert *_NOT_* to watch it. So, I guess he taught her a lesson that day/night lol.
Get over yourself, Davie Draiman. You're no Sir Paul McCartney or someone. Their daughter was home while a severe lightening and hail storm was pummeling their house. She was checking on the kid who had just got back home from a church youth function. May have been more polite to hold the phone down out of sight, but who cares.
I like Disturbed and from what I've seen David Draiman seems like a really good guy, but he shouldn't have done that. I think that if you spend money to go to a show, you can do whatever the hell you want. From what I read, she wasn't even personally a fan of the band, but her husband was so she bought tickets to the show as a gift. He made a huge mistake doing this
A comment from another similar video: "Apparently her 14 year old daughter was freaking out over a hail storm at her house so the mom was texting her to calm her down. That's why she was texting. David already apologized, so this doesn't matter anymore. www.ew.com/article/2016/04/03/disturbed-david-draiman-apology-concertgoer-texting"
As much as I like David, I think he is completely wrong. This is douchebaggery at a very high level. She paid to be there, and has the right to listen to the music and enjoy it or waste the money and play mobile games instead. Also, what if it was important? He cannot possibly know. Also, humiliating someone in front of the whole crowd is extremely offensive and 100 times worse than her possible "crime", which cannot even be proved.
"What's that? A _single_ girl who is not interrupting the show in any way who paid for her ticket is texting on her phone and not devoting all attention and and not screaming like a maniac? Well, let me just stop the ENTIRE SHOW to call her out and embarrass her in front of thousands of people." This is apparently logical in some sort of way somehow?
He apologized for this but he was actually wrong. She was texting to make sure the babysitter was okay with the kids as the show was running late. Wasn't texting the whole show either. I'm glad he publicly apologized but this was such a fucking stupid crybaby fit for him to put out in front of everyone.
What really angers me and as a role model the singer should understand, there's a variety of possible reasons she could have been on her phone. Don't assume she's being rude because anything could be happening in her life at that moment
Please…if something important/bad was happening, would she still be at a disturbed show, of all places? The “comforting my daughter” excuse is good for about 5 minutes of phone time, tops…
That was ridiculous. Who gives a shit if she was on her phone. She still paid to be there. He made his money either way. Calling her out and embarrassing her was just wrong.
Even his apologies are moronic. “I’ve been doing it for years. I’m trying to engage the one person who seems passive and get them more involved.” He is proud of the fact that he embarrasses his paying fans without considering both sides of the story. He could make the best music in the world and I wouldn’t pay this a hole a dime.
a movie theater, comedy show, a play are totally different than a metal show. Her being on her cell phone the entire time isn't ruining the experience for anyone and shouldn't be distracting for a band. I'd imagine a ton of other people were on their phones recording parts of the concert but for some reason he singles out this one lady.
think of it this way you are at a concert and enjoying the music and your icon, the band you payed money to see calls you out and makes the whole crowd hate you for nothing, i love disturbed but it really depressed me the way he completely ruined her night
I actually just found out, she was texting her daughter, who apparently was in some kind of danger, a massive hailstorm or something like that. David actually apologized for this apparently. Not sure how true this is but yeah.

I get the same way when I'm at a concert. It pisses me off to see people fucking around on their phones instead of you watching the show you PAID to be at
Can you justo update yourself? First of all that woman declared that she was texting her 14 year old daughter because there was a huge hailstorm and her daughter was scared. Second of all David Draiman already apologized to that woman. Update yourself please.
That time Disturbed told the kids to get off their dang lawn. Back in their day, they had to walk uphill both ways to get back and forth between the rehearsal space and the gig.
She has since spoken up and said she was checking on her kid. I'm sorry but he was in the wrong here. If I'm at a show and wanna text my kid, I should be able to do so without getting embarrassed in front of that many people
Honestly you'd think that as a performer he'd know how to just ignore the ONE person not paying attention. I mean she obviously paid money to be there, what right does he have to call her out? Not like she's causing a problem to other people watching. If anything he wasted everyone's time with this and made himself look like a douche bag.
I would have kept texting. She paid the price of admission I'm assuming so she can spend the time doing whatever she wants, or no, even if it was a free show, shes entitled to text if she wants.. Mr Important singer cant stand not having all eyes on him huh? And yes I would say he is wrong for calling someone out for something that silly..
+Bob Downey When I was at Gigantour a couple years ago. He told two girls in the front row to leave if they couldn't bother to stand up for his performance. I got up and walked out. I agree with you. She paid to get in. What does it matter.
I've seen so many video's of this guy doing nothing but winge, about politicians , other bands , fans & so on. Damn he makes axl rose look down to earth!
I have trouble figuring out how anyone is better than the other here... 1- david is abusing of his power as a frontman 2-the girl IS being dissrespectful 3- the uploader is filming on his phone... cant you just enjoy the performance?... not better... than the girl in my opinion Plus, David is a very self conscious, down to earth and smart guy,im sure he must of been mad at how he handled it after the show cause honestly, even if the girl did not enjoy it as much as the others... she still paid her ticket :/ anyway, this video is pretty sad in my opinion, what did you guys think?
+jpismad Yup. I see what you did there and I agree. It's a pretty wide gray area where you can't pick the good or the bad guy. On the other hand, what a cool title for this video would be 'The Girl, The Uploader and The Draiman'?!
She's not being disrespectful by enjoying the concert the way that she sees fit. If she wants to be on her phone she can be, his job is to perform, not police how other people act as his concert.
David was lucky it was just a message from a little girl afraid of a hail storm. Imagine if it's something serious this woman is informed about at the concert like if a close relative died.
Harry Obser And I guess you are the kid who listens metal music for only getting attention and cursing other types of music's fans for getting their attention and making yourself seems like you're different
This reminds me of an Ozzfest show I went to years ago, probably around 2003 or 2004. This kid I knew that was obsessed with disturbed got to meet David. He asked for an autograph and he said something along the lines of "You're not a fan. If you were a real fan you'd be wearing a shirt. Go buy a fucking shirt and maybe I'll sign it." (He was wearing last year's ozzfest shirt iirc).
I have to agree with David on this. What the hell is the girl doing, buying tickets--expensive ones at that considering where she is sitting--to just text on her phone. Have some respect for the performers! P.S Before anyone responds with 'she had problems with her kids', I'll add this much. If you have troublesome kids, they are called *babysitters*, enough said...

Yes, but the crowd pays the bills. When she gets a check with his name on it then he has a right to bitch, not before.
Exactly, why would she pay to go to a concert, just to watch it through her phone?

Imagine having the attention of 2,000 fans rocking out to your show and you feel like you have to take a full minute to berate a woman not giving you attention. As most mentioned, her daughter was in an emergency, so she was trying to calm her down. It’s one thing for him to mention it, it another thing to completely mortify a fan (likely former fan by now)

I agree he does have a point but I was referring to reason why she was texting in the first place before he called her out.
Disturbed was wrong for publicly humiliating that girl. She paid, end of story. Your gonna have assholes like this at shows, dude. I don't think I can look at him the same ever again.
She was talking to her daughter caught in hailstorm to make sure she was okay.
+SurreaLectrus then she should have gone outside to call and not sit there and text the whole time
With all due respect. Who the hell are you to say what your ticket payers can and cannot do on their phones?
David saw this and has already apologized for it. www.ew.com/article/2016/04/03/disturbed-david-draiman-apology-concertgoer-texting
He should of asked what was up.
+Richard T I understand she apologized but she could've left and called her daughter instead of just sitting there
Bodee Truax Yeah, she could have.

What really angers me and as a role model the singer should understand, there's a variety of possible reasons she could have been on her phone. Don't assume she's being rude because anything could be happening in her life at that moment

Man! What kind of phone do you have? Great sound and video. Thanks for sharing!!
new cellphone now dont pick up the bass has much so the sound doesnt sound bad anymore when in concert.
David was lucky it was just a message from a little girl afraid of a hail storm. Imagine if it's something serious this woman is informed about at the concert like if a close relative died.
That singer is self centered as hell. She could have been actually checking up on something more important than Disturbed's shit music.
Ainsely Harriot i'm guessing you listen to pop/rap music.
Yeah youre right she was texting her daughter
Harry Obser And I guess you are the kid who listens metal music for only getting attention and cursing other types of music's fans for getting their attention and making yourself seems like you're different
She paid for the ticket to be there. If she wants to go to fucking sleep then she fucking can.
It doesn't matter if she paid for the ticket it's extremely disrespectful and rude. If you're gonna be on the phone stay home
Maybe directing his attention to singing on key would have been more beneficial to the overall performance.
lol and then he starts singing.. and sounds like a dying cat. id be texting too
Nich Miller lmao!😂😂
The real sad thing here is that she actually payed money to see a disturbed concert...
He could've called her out in a friendly way, said something nice, and kept it short.
what about it wasnt friendly? he didnt yell at her and start trying to berate her, he just told her what she was doing was disrespectful
She payed for the ticket so she gets to text or not if she wants to. And there shouldn't be respect that calls someone out in front of everybody.
Erubiel Erubiel2 It would be at the very least common courtesy to give the performers your full attention, surely?
+matthew standell Agreed as a band member myself its our job to entertain if youre on your phone the whole time its disrespectful. think about a corpo job when they do a presentation are the other people on their phones? no they are not.
It really depends. There are so many variables that could've been happening, you can't really say she was doing something wrong. Also, maybe she was just going because her boyfriend wanted her to. You never know.
