In December I decided to break into the tech field. I took a Google Data Analytics course, and enrolled back into college! I'm a CS major and looking at jobs and internships right now. I'm still working on getting better at SQL, Python, and Excel, and taking a Cloud course now. It's a lot but I'm determined. I do wish I could find an entry-level position in data that will teach me SQL on the job. But I'll just network until then. I do have an opportunity for an internship with my local news station in the tech department. We will see!

I learnt to be frugal, minimal on spending, saving and paying myself first through Investing, made Plans, growing passive income, Read a lot of books on finance, followed my plan consistently.

Extremely useful. Currently in Junior College and began looking in Financial Analyst positions and I am surprised people don't apply early. The only discouraging part is that Companies "prefer 3-6 years experience" but everything else is actually what you learn in the first 2 years of college !!! :D

Hi Ziv, congratulations on your role. Your journey is so relatable to mine, except for the fact that I'm switching careers to Data Analytics from being a Marketing professional for over 6 years. I could relate so much to you looking at Linkedin jobs and not applying. I've been really upskilling myself over the last few months. I've learnt Sql, Excel and Tableau. But I'm not yet confident. Knowing that you were able to get a job without taking courses is such an eye opener. I guess I just have to trust myself and believe in my sauce. Great video btw.

Hello! Thank you! And wow, with 6 years of marketing experience AND sql, tableau and excel knowledge, you just need to start pumping out those applications. I get what you mean with the scrolling, you read the job description and it just sounds so scary 😂 I recommend you check out this insta: @badasscareers. This account and the free webinars she holds helped me so much with confidence. I was able to revamp my resume to showcase the experience I had (I just used the free resources but she has paid boot camps as well. But I think you can learn a lot with the free stuff). For you with 6 years experience you’d have an amazing resume. Good luck, just keep applying and definitely believe in your sauce!!!

Yes transition!🙌🏾 I’m currently trying to transition into data analytics and I’ve been so overwhelmed with trying to learn python, sql, excel tableau & feeling like I don’t know enough of it to apply for these roles. Also not having projects and a portfolio to prove I know the work. But hearing your story inspires me to just do it. Ok I definitely want to learn ultrix skills too. And data validation is a big word to explain processing data and is it useful or not. I also get Udemy for free so I will try that Boot Camp you mentioned. My job is offering a data analytics internship I can add to my resume. Your tableau looked great I haven’t used it myself. Your correct the objective section should provide key detail as to the field of interest ,however LinkedIn is not a resume alone its also a history profile and timeline in which many employer s can see all of your work history ,capabilities , Languages, licenses and skill set. I’m currently studying Informational Technology with majors in Software Development and Information Systems, I have a Data Engineering Certification from DataQuest. The work experience I have is Student Assistant under the Department of Applied Technologies for my Uni, will that suffice?

Hey, ziv I'm interested in the tech industry but I have no experience or background knowledge. Also, I'm afraid to enter the tech world too. What should I do? I have always wanted to have high salaries beyond my age even though I'm still a uni stud.😪
Hi Yoom. I’d start by researching the tech industry to see what I like. Tech industry is so broad it gets overwhelming. Since you know that you want a high paying job, search on UA-cam “high paying jobs in tech” and just research to see if any of those interest you and what the path to getting those jobs looks like. Then you can work backwards from there to see what skills you need to pick up. If you can pick up electives at uni that help then do that. Otherwise there are so many free courses on UA-cam. And also make sure you are working while you are at uni. Even if it’s at a supermarket or restaurant! Any employment is an opportunity to gain soft skills that you can put on your resume and showcase in interviews. It’s great that you have such high ambitions while still at uni. Just make a game plan and keep working hard. All the best!!
