    What an interesting video. Out of curiosity do you plan on doing a tutorial for cities or battle damaged road dioramas in the future? It would be sweet to see more of that content in your diorama playlist.

    Thanks for sharing video how to. I'm planning on making a diorama of the Wright flyer (1/39 scale anniversary kit) as its about to take off from Kill Devil hills (formerly Kitty Hawk) The top of Dune is 1/39 scale for Bi-plane but the (orig.) 100 ft drop is 12" scaled down to 1/100. Would it look bad with 2 different scales or should I just do a flat "poster" as base showing everything in a 1/100 scale view of sea-level beach "below" the Dune Crest where Bi-plane will sit until I can do justice to diorama display? Thanks for any input. /Rosemary

    really nice, as always. I'll have to look in to those palms, I'm starting to hate making them anymore, it takes to much time. again nice.

      I prefer a water based product for groundwork (the old standby, Celluclay, is still my favourite - thanks Shep Paine!). Magic Sculpt is great stuff but I like it for making tarps, backpacks, duffel bags etc. Water based products are easier to spread and can be tinted, although they can't be molded and you have to watch for shrinkage. Still, great job, love your videos! About time I subscribe!

    Another great tutorial. One question though, in the diorama, is the tank supposed to have backed up to the trees...maybe seeking some shade?

    • @AndysHobbyHeadquarters
      @AndysHobbyHeadquarters  8 років тому

      yes , I wanted to created that exact diorama . if I can make it work I might try to add a line from the tank to the tree and add some shade cover . thanks for watching

    Palm trees are short generally in the desert except when they are near oasis. I was told by locals when i was in north africa. So, i recommend you cut them a little.

    Andy, have you ever tried using air drying modelling clay? I personally prefer it due to how easy it is to mound once you put some water on it. I would only really recommend it for small dioramas for singles tanks as it can get quite expensive, but it's really easy to add textures and shape it

    • @patmos09
      @patmos09 7 років тому +1

      I'm a fucking noob to dioramas, but i tried air dry modelling clay for a Tobruk diorama, and during the drying process it warped pretty bad, cracked and one edge raised 2 inches. I assumed something like this might happen a bit, but not so extensive. I binned it and made the diorama flat. What did i do wrong?

    • @friedeggnchips4095
      @friedeggnchips4095 7 років тому +1

      bad clay possibly? make sure its good quality and also that the base wont bend by using thick, non flexible material

    I'm working on a project which is Inspired by Raiders of the Lost Ark in One Scene there is a Convoy that is moving through the Desert Road delivering the Ark to the Submarine Base. No trees, just rocks and sand. Indy not included, srry :(
    The Vehicles I'll be needing are:
    - Coloniale Staff Car or Citroën Traction for the Staff Car Belloq, Toht, and Dietrich rode on.
    - CCKW 353 Utility Truck or Kfz.70 for the truck that carries the Ark to the Submarine Base.
    - Sd.Kfz 222 Afrika Korps for the Armored Vehicle that guards the truck from enemies ahead.
    - BMW Motorcycle with Sidecar for the bike in the scene.
    Extras:
    - Afrika Korps figures (optional)
    I will not be putting it on a piece of wood but I'll use an Illustration Board as the Stand (a.k.a. Power of Improvisation...)

    • @illusionclassicrock6742

      You know how railroad tracks have rocks that holds the wooden ties in place? That's called ballast. This ballast is scale stones used for model railroad tracks.
