I'm literally so impressed! Awsome work dude, looks so realistic and really matches the tank and a real happening scenario! I'm defenetly gonna go back to this video, when I'm trying something like this too!
Building a diorama is always a bit of a "back-and-forth" process, i am happy to see you showed that in the video! It will be helpful for both beginners and experts. You know what i think of the diorama you built there already :)
You're the only modeller - apart from myself - who uses felt pads under a diorama. That crackling paste idea... I am stealing it. Thanks for yet another quality video. All the best!
A really well done diorama. Simplicity is often better - especially for a single model. Instead of hair spray, watered down PVA (white glue) through a spray bottle is effective for fixing sand, dirt, etc to bases. If you need to make the insulation look like rock/stone, you can texture with rolled up aluminum foil (idea from Black Magic Craft), and torn up cork stacked up can be effective looking stones, etc.
Great work! I really like the cracked river bed. I have a proxxon hot wire table and it’s great, with a bit of practice you can get very clean and repeatable cuts. Although it’s not cheap I’d recommend it to anyone that builds lots of dioramas and or buildings.
Very informative. Thanks for the video, BTW, nice job on your Panzer III. I just finished one in AK camp, and will make a base using some of your techniques
about 17 mins in it also looks good as a wet mud base. Top job. I'm amazed you can actually buy a product to simulate cracks on a surface! The attitude of the tank would make it a very good candidate for metal tracks to get the "real sag".
That Mk iii is beautifully finished. A great diorama too. A memory from a North Africa veteran regards the physical setting, "It was a shabby, rocky, gritty landscape, ridges stick up in knife-edges like a comb of rock....pinnacles like the jagged spine of a Brontasaurus".
That base of yours is very well done as is your tutorial video! I like putting my tanks on a base as well as it first, tells a story of where the vehicle operated as well as the terrain and second, when displayed at a show the judges don’t actually touch the model. Once again well done!
Thanks for making such a detailed video! I haven't build a diorama in a few months now, your video inspires me to get back to it haha. Anyway i really like your result, especially the crackled river bed!
Excellent work on the diorama, terrain, detail and execution. And the Panzer III is marvelous. I’ve seen some dioramas that have way too much clutter (snow and mud) which loses the appeal to me. You did great, and excellent walk through. I did hit the subscribe to your YT channel.
Wow, you have Tank Art by Mic Renaldi. I have it too. It should be a reference book of painting technique. Anyway, desert texture of ground is excellent !!!!!
The foam is also plastic whereas the plaster/papermache is water based I would imagine. If you could mix the DAS with acetone or similar that would work i would imagine. Not the best though ;)
Seriously a fantastic piece. the minimalistic approach makes your imagination run wild. what has the commander spotted? is this seconds before the panzer takes a fatal blow? I love it.
Really do love this diorama (I think the "story" thing is taken too far by IPMS for sure- this scene puts the tank in a specific time and place and the crew are clearly there for a reason- sounds like a story to me! The specifics may be up to the viewer but I think letting the viewer imagine some extra story is a plus). Anyway it's very cool to watch the idea stay static but the techniques to achieve it evolve as you progress. I wonder how many of us draw these "the tank goes here" markings as we sort out the groundwork?? Haha. Very well researched, it's a smart scene that really sells the dry river bed and rocky terrain you're after. Looking forward to your next project! And if you want to save a little time and cut out some steps, if you can get some premixed, water based drywall spackle, it basically cuts out both the sculptamold and clay steps. And if you wanted to, you could add the dirt, sand, rocks, and fallen branches as it's drying to really lock it all together quickly. The end results are basically the same, but could save you some application/drying time.
The model and the scene are very successful. A few comments for improvement - from my point of view of course. The model is not sitting properly on the floor. The armored steel surfaces are a little too dull.
I'm new modeler. I primed my model with vallejo primer. Now I'm going to do some chipping effects. I want to apply now smooth coat of vallejo medium chipping effect and then paint with mr color C series. Will it work? If not how to do chipping effect with mr color C series paints?
Does enyone have an idea, why my tamiya panzerkampfwagen 38t 1/48 after accurate build still have some little bits left on where you have to cut them out. They do have numbers but they are not represented or even shown in instruction sheet.Thank you for help guys
Panzermeister36 cheers buddy for answer. But it’s quite strange to me how can u have some bits left on one model, for instance where they can be used if for example u won’t be building same tank
Sinking into the ground usually only occurs when the vehicle is stationary and has has time to settle - even then it's usually not much except if the ground is wet. There's a picture here that shows when tanks are on the move they create very little depressions in the ground apart from the track. c8.alamy.com/comp/C45EE2/german-panzer-iii-in-north-africa-C45EE2.jpg
Technically, it's a "vignette', and NOT a "diorama"....there is only a single vehicle, with crew onboard, on a scenic base. That's all. Nothing else. No STORY.....No ACTION.... Hey, just sayin. It's really excellent work, though!
Best explanation I've seen of how to do a north Africa diorama, thanks!!!
I like at the end you said you had a lot of fun making it.... that’s what this is all about having fun. Amazing work 🙌
Exactly Jeff
Really great walk through of building a simple but very attractive diorama. Thank you!
Very nice bud. Looks very real. Love your techniques. You have given me some ideas. Cheers bro.

Simply outstanding. Very detailed and easy to follow video...well done!
Love this. The river bed is fantastic! Good job sir
I love how the tank blends right into the diorama
Love it, using the material you have at home, no special trip to the Hobby Centre.
Thank you!
You're the only modeller - apart from myself - who uses felt pads under a diorama. That crackling paste idea... I am stealing it. Thanks for yet another quality video. All the best!
Very nicely done. I particularly like the color balance between the Pz.III & the ground - they look like they belong together.
So true.
Very informative and like the approach of using what’s on hand
great vignette, the dry river bed is 👌🙌
Correct. Vignette, NOT diorama, lol....
Great Tobruk diorama , excelent work , great landscape and Panzerkampfwagen III . 👍🏆🥇
With the DAS clay i first lay down some white glue and sticks just fine!
Thank you for the advice.
@@Panzermeister36 A small payment in kind for all that I've learned here! Thank you!
Outstanding work and presentation.

Awesome finished build. I’m working on a desert blending into a moon scape and this has been very helpful. Thanks.

Great dio, wonderful scenery...and this ground looks so real!!👍👍👍
Thank you very much!

Great Work! Great explanations of how to do.. Thankyou!

Thank you Jan!
Dusty, nice and just pointed me to some unused picture canvas. 10 out of 10.
That look excellent! Extremely realistic.
Excellent work on the diorama, terrain, detail and execution. And the Panzer III is marvelous.

Thank you for the comment and the subscription! I really appreciate it.
Great work as always!!! All your videos are very interesting and very helpfull!!! Greetings from Portugal!!!!
Bravo! Great work from the beginnig to the end!!!
Great diorama mate, would love you to do more larger diorama scenes👍 keep up the great work!
Thanks, will do!
Amazing work! As always brudda!!
Great result, great tutorial.
Nice Job. Looks great
Your Dio looks realy good and your buddybuild with Hamilkar was a nice idea!
Very well done my friend!
For the das clay to stick better I would use a stiff wire brush to roughen the foam surface. I love your videos. Keep up the fantastic work!
Thank you for the advice!
Very nicely done

Amazing stuff... as always! Greatly inspiring!!!
This is really nice man
Fantastic job!
That was awesome. Looks fantastic.
Thank you Stevie!
Looks great. Still waiting to do my first dio.
amazing diorama

Great Work!
Very nice work!
Absolutely beautiful Panzer !
Thank you!
Great work. Wondered how you did the ground work for this, now we know! Great vid, thanks for sharing.
Bro this tutorial was awesome!!!
Enjoyed your video, thank you
congratulations great achievement
Great work as always, I would love to see you considerable skills transferred to an aircraft kit or ship mate.
Thank you! I will certainly do an aircraft some day.
Cool diorama, personally I would give a little lighter shade to the desert, but the concept is really good
Seriously a fantastic piece. the minimalistic approach makes your imagination run wild. what has the commander spotted? is this seconds before the panzer takes a fatal blow? I love it.
Thank you! I am glad you enjoy my little scene so much :)
Fantastic!!!

True craftsman!

Simple and effective diorama, well done.
Would spackling/filler work as well?
I know many people use those products instead, so it should be fine :)
Awesome

Probably spare parts left over from other kits based on that tank much as Marder III.
Panzermeister36 cheers buddy for answer. But it’s quite strange to me how can u have some bits left on one model, for instance where they can be used if for example u won’t be building same tank
some sprues are used between different kits so they will result in unused parts depending on which box/kit the sprue is with.
Anybody know where you can get a foam block like that?
that's just pink insulation foam I bought at home depot.
Most model shops do it, mine’s do it in a blue version that’s excellent to work with and has various thicknesses on offer.
If you want das to stick wet the foam
I did wet it. That's why there are red stains on the foam after tried.
Notices that pz3 show no weight on the ground its sitting on top of the ground need pressing into the ground to show weight
Tanks have lower ground pressure than a person does. I don't sink into a rocky riverbed so neither will the tank.

Deserts tend to have extremely hard surfaces so it would be ok to do it this way compared to say Russia or Europe.
Nice
GOOD!
thank you!
What does DAK mean?
Deutsches Afrika Korps
@Panzermeister36 Oh yeah, thanks. I thought it was something to do with a place in Africa 😅
👌
Woww
👍👍👍👍👍
Noice 👍
Очень красиво. Браво маэстро... Достойный вариант, даже очень достойный... Лайк поставил от души...
You needed to make the Stewie Griffin CoolWhhhip joke ;)

You're absolutely correct but diorama is what people understand when they see the video title.
