I know right? Like a lot of guys are doing in automotives right now, mixing old and new. That's where it's at as far as I'm concerned. My road bike builds always have classic and modern elements and I think this makes them more relevant. For example, as I'm sure many others are, I'm sick of black anodized cranks, stems, bars, rims etc. Vintage road bikes had bare aluminum bits you could polish up. I see this coming back. Hope so. Imagine a modern carbon road bike with some classic touches like bare alloy components. Or maybe chromed skewers instead of boring black. Or, deep section carbon rims with chromed spokes or maybe even bare alloy tall flange hubs. For styles sake.
Actually, I got my Lumos helmet 5.5 years ago (Dec 2016) and works great. This is not a new idea at all, Im really glad that some companies are starting to make those too.
Favorite new tech for me, so far, is that Giro helmet with lights/indicators and bar-mounted activator. And no, Ollie, a bike cannot be too aero. To say otherwise might break your heart, not something we want as you file your dispatches from Frankfurt. :)
Hi Ollie, sorry this comment is a little late but did you see any advances in camera tech? As far as I can see there are not many options out there and what is is quite bulky. Please tell me you ride a single speed, freewheel roadbike with a gear ratio of 64:16. If this is the case, that's rad. That is an impressive ratio. One of my road bikes is a vintage Miyata I converted to single speed. It's freewheel, not fixed, with a ratio of 52:16. Until I read your comment I felt pretty butch about my tall gear. @@chrissinclair6086 🙂I was the dishwasher for many years. It helps having a baby bottle brush to get inside of the bottle and at least on my bottle the valve can be pulled off.
I don't even wash my bottles. Just dump out the old shit and mix up the new.
Right now my mind is all set on renovating an old 80's racer, a Centurion Super le mans, but seeing Ollie nerding out on new tech is always fun! Anyone on the expo presenting new old parts, or retro tech? Or maybe cool things you can fit on your 40 year old bike?
Full carbon chainring is nice. A full carbon 3D printed cassette would be even better.
Christian what’s his face’s Cadex. Basically the younger brother of the Giant MCR. Get a ride on it Ollie. 👍
Bottle steriliser - you don't have kids, do you Ollie? 🤣
Sorry Giro, Aldi got there before you with the indicator helmet last year 🤪
I'm with Si on the Cadex shopper 🛒
Actually, I got my Lumos helmet 5.5 years ago (Dec 2016) and works great. This is not a new idea at all, Im really glad that some companies are starting to make those too.
Favorite new tech for me, so far, is that Giro helmet with lights/indicators and bar-mounted activator. And no, Ollie, a bike cannot be too aero. To say otherwise might break your heart, not something we want as you file your dispatches from Frankfurt. :)
I like the Ethos helmet!
5:09 so what you're saying is that the 'sticky bottle' is now available to everyone..?
*Does the job*
Thanks Ollie..the Scarper ? That looked pretty cool .
Hi Ollie, sorry this comment is a little late but did you see any advances in camera tech? As far as I can see there are not many options out there and what is is quite bulky. I'm surprised that with the camera and battery tech in our mobile phones we have seen something light and slimline developed. Perhaps this is a good subject for a future Tech show?
I love that you can get road bike with motor and also take it off.
The Classified hub looks like a significant improvement with a wide range of wheel partners.
if you combine higher speeds and high weight with electric cargo bikes ABS seems sensible. add inclement weather and its useful for sureee
Go check out ax-lightness !!
GTN said it best: classified isn't there yet till they have a disc wheel.
ABS is nice to have
Use the handheld mic as a prop; mic yourself with a Lav otherwise. The audio production will be much higher. Cheers.
Can you go look at some eBikes. Thanks!!
Hi Ollie, I would apreciate very much if you could visit Basso's stand.
Thanks for entertaining reports!
sandwishes all over their bikes🤣 well done! mate
Elite making a new "sticky" bottle? Stay Safe!!
Is the Eurobike at Eurobike this year? Any tech advancements for it? Or has it got even heavier?
I think the new slimline ABS should be a standard feature on big, heavy cargo bikes. Definitely makes a lot of sense for that.
I just got a 64t for my singlespeed, it is noticeably faster than the 56t I had on before, despite the overall ratio being the same (14t->16t in the back)
Yup. Big/big is smoother. It’s part of why I don’t like 1x drivetrains.
@@ericpmoss that's why I love 1x, it generally has bigger gears. I was able to increase my front chainring on my 1x bike to 56t, and run an 11-40 cassette
The overall ratio is not the same???? 56/14=4 and 64/14=4.57
@@benoittheminerandgamer I also mentioned that I switched from 14t-16t in the back 64x16 = 56x14
Hi, thanks for sharing your gear ratio. For whatever reason, most folks don't.
Now, I'm curious...are you referring to an actual single speed bike? Please tell me you ride a single speed, freewheel roadbike with a gear ratio of 64:16. If this is the case, that's rad. That is an impressive ratio. One of my road bikes is a vintage Miyata I converted to single speed. It's freewheel, not fixed, with a ratio of 52:16. Until I read your comment I felt pretty butch about my tall gear. But you are riding 4:1, that's seriously punk rock! Haha. What do you use it for? Do you have many hills or valleys in your area? Do you have trouble stretching chains? I'd love to see this monster.
