4:45 I’m only this far in the video so pardon if you figure out later, but the Piklopedia actually explains that Pikmin are in their own kingdom separate from animals and plants. This kingdom shares animal and plant traits. So normal plants are still just normal plants. Critters that also have animal and plant traits are part of the same kingdom, and many animals also just use mimicry. This is to say, are they meat or veg? They are both.
Pikmin is no longer about captains herding Pikmin under the time limit of losing sunlight. It is about Rin herding RT under the time limit of losing sanity.
Even if RT was kidnapped, sent to the UK and chained up in the gallows by Rin, at least RT got to experience Absolute Peakmin gaming in a game that makes you think it's actually a Kirby game in disguise if RT is wondering what the Pikmin taste like
It's like the contrast between JaidenAnimations and Alpharad's first nuzlockes. To steal a comment from Alpha's vid, 'Jaiden's nuzlocke was filled with heroic sacrifice and dramatic victory, while Alpharad rolls up like " 'Sup? These are my pets. Wanna see me chuck them in this woodchipper?" '
0:28 fun fact: in the next game Pikmin 4, there’s a collectopedia for each enemy in the game, along with notes from different characters One of these characters details the steps into cooking them. And Pikmin are included the list. (Though I believe he decided a not to eat them due to their usefulness, but is really curious)
One of my favorite little details of this game is that if you have an army of 20 of each type of pikmin then they'll sometimes sing the Pikmin theme, and if you have a squad consisting solely of the 3 captains then they'll start singing the Koppai national anthem.
I love how RT's first instincts when it comes to this game is Pikmin murder: Pikmin exists? Can we eat them? We should eat them. Pikmin drown in water? Thrown one in the deep end.

It was a post about how you shouldn’t use condoms because they aren’t biodegradable responded to with “babies also aren’t biodegradable” followed by “no no no babies absolutely are biodegradable” Edit: never mind they answered it but this is just extra context
One of my favourite examples of Pikmin being surprisingly dark and sad is in the first game if you meet certain conditions the Pikmin will start singing a song in Japanese which basically translates to them saying they love you and would follow you anywhere even if you view them as disposable and will eventually leave them and they won’t even ask you to love them back. So canonically despite everything he did, the Pikmin still love Dan.
Yeah but earth the planet its fine. Its the humans who killed themselves. Presumably if it weren't for the explorers finding cultivatable food the Hocotate planet would be devoid of all animal life
Dan being so genuinely concerned near the end that Olimar will get eaten and Rin's 'he's in a spacesuit!!!' whilst once more trying to keep Dan on track was glorious

Pikmin 3 is actually much more forgiving than pikmin 2. A lot of things that would kill a pikmin in that game are fine here. Like, throwing a non-yellow pikmin into an electric fence? Instant death in pikmin 2. That game also gets really hard in the postgame, very easy to lose dozens of pikmin at once
Yeah, 3 was my first experience of Pikmin, then I picked up the 1&2 bundle when it came out on Switch and drowned so many bc the recall time is so much shorter!
Also Pikmin 2 you would have to spam the recall button if they were drowning because they'd move, then start drowning again and you'd end up losing some anyways
@@galuxius1861You don't. It's harder to recall them if you spam the whistle from what I remember. You whistle once for long and they will swim towards you with moderate speed.
@@MarceloKatayama The whistle gave the pikmin s, and spamming it let them escape the water, that's how I remember not letting them drown when I played on the wii

Theres a beauty in when playing Pikmin 3 with a pal. One half of this video is spent playing the actual game, the other half is blaming each other of killing a certain number of Pikmin.

This kingdom shares animal and plant traits. So normal plants are still just normal plants. Critters that also have animal and plant traits are part of the same kingdom, and many animals also just use mimicry.
This is to say, are they meat or veg?
They are both.
Maybe theyre fungi?
That’s a full stew right there!
They're part plant, part animal, and highly parasitic!
You cut one open and it's just sushi like that one dungeon meshi episode
Pikmin is no longer about captains herding Pikmin under the time limit of losing sunlight.
It is about Rin herding RT under the time limit of losing sanity.
Even if RT was kidnapped, sent to the UK and chained up in the gallows by Rin, at least RT got to experience Absolute Peakmin gaming in a game that makes you think it's actually a Kirby game in disguise if RT is wondering what the Pikmin taste like
Doesn't rt just live across the sea on the neighboring island of Ireland or am I incorrect

I love how Rin will go out of her way to save a single Pikmin while RT is actively charging them into a British insult’s open mouth.
0:28 fun fact: in the next game Pikmin 4, there’s a collectopedia for each enemy in the game, along with notes from different characters
One of these characters details the steps into cooking them. And Pikmin are included the list.
(Though I believe he decided a not to eat them due to their usefulness, but is really curious)
glow pikmin - "doesn't smell alive."
the piklopedia is actually in 2 deluxe as well, including louie's notes on how to eat them.
@@_pancakes1734 the notes about the pikmin are only in 4 though
iirc it's either stated Louie has eaten a pikmin or wants to. He has eaten every creature on 404.
he thinks he chipped a tooth on a rock pikmin, so he at least tried to eat one. he also uses ice pikmin to refrigerate his food.
Not even a minute in and they're already talking about eating the pikmin

@@ScLuigi mb all I know nothing about Pikmin
RTGame is Louie??
One of my favorite little details of this game is that if you have an army of 20 of each type of pikmin then they'll sometimes sing the Pikmin theme, and if you have a squad consisting solely of the 3 captains then they'll start singing the Koppai national anthem.
That's really cute
I love how RT's first instincts when it comes to this game is Pikmin murder: Pikmin exists? Can we eat them? We should eat them. Pikmin drown in water? Thrown one in the deep end.
my favorite part about louie stealing your juice is that if the koppaittes failed to get it back he would've unintentionally doomed an entire planet to starvation
Seems pretty intentional to me. They are from the same planet, he must know of his people's woes. Hes just a bastard
Louie and Olimar are from a different planet than the three amigos here. One that, as far as I know, doesn't have that food issue, I think.
@@WystaerMacaron wait. What. They are the same race but different planets and the other planet was like "fk y'all starving fools, go thousands of light years away if you want some seeds."
@@skeetsmcgrew3282 not the same race, koppaites mainly/only eat fruits hocotatians mainly eat vegetables, and Louie well...idk about Louie. anyways according to the games their palettes don't really work with each other so the koppaites can't really get help from them.

0:27 louie.....
MY EXACT THOUGHTS
Funny enough there is no mention of Louie ever eating pikmin. He bit a rock pikmin but that's it. Still doesn't excuse the UA-cam he does though.
"someone's got to have cooked the pikmin at some point."
yeah, so about that...
He sure tried to cook them
"Is this a metaphor for where we're heading?" So who wants to tell him what planet this takes place on...
Yeah but earth the planet its fine. Its the humans who killed themselves. Presumably if it weren't for the explorers finding cultivatable food the Hocotate planet would be devoid of all animal life
I like how at this point, every guest on RT's streams has to have a "UA-cam." clip recorded for properly editing the VODs afterward.
0:14 he's already louie
Dan being so genuinely concerned near the end that Olimar will get eaten and Rin's 'he's in a spacesuit!!!' whilst once more trying to keep Dan on track was glorious
"A game is a piece of software that you play for enjoyment."
Off to a roaring start as always
“Stop making puns while you’re in strangling range” is such an amazing line that I will immediately be stealing
55:51 Rin putting RT in a headlock over a handful of Pikmin deaths will never not be funny to me
RECIPE: PIKMIN SOUP
Put LIVE PIKMIN (not dead) into a broth for flavor. Any type will work, but chicken is best.
IMMEDIATELY put lid on to keep the souls in (for flavor).
Simmer for 8 hours.
Season with salt, oregano, chives, pepper, and a hearty amount of garlic.
Serve with coffee and some salty crackers.
mmmmm tasty souls of the pikdammed
Which one is the chicken Pikmin? The winged ones?
@@galuxius1861 Weird. I remember spamming the whistle made them move slower, as it would reset their acceleration cycle. I also played 1 and 2 on the wii, and I remember that water was a death sentence because barely any of my pikmin could make it whenever I spammed the whistle.

Oh my lord, I'm gonna have to go and watch the vod(s). Probably the games that provided the best David Lynch like experience of cuteness obscuring something horrific.
The early part on Koppai is based on Thomas Malthus's theory of increase human population will outpace food security meaning more people equals less food resulting in famine. He doesnt take account in technological changes meaning as technology advances, we are getting better at making more food.
We still suck at distribution and our mass production methods are still producing dangerous amounts of pollution while requiring the destruction of wildlife... So unfortunately we need to get better still.

That machine gunner alongside the Loui boss were the least scariest of the 4 of those types of bosses for me. Only reason I don't play the 2nd game anymore (not playing 3 or 4 for similar reasons) are the other 2 bosses of that type.
