They generally do not use their full yield with a defensive bite, so they can inject venom again immediately. *If* they use all their venom, it immediately starts to build back up albeit slowly. It replenishes faster if the snake is healthy and well hydrated. I’d say it would take a few days to fully replenish from an empty tank but likely a day or so to replenish enough of a yield to hunt prey or defend themselves effectively.
I think your enthusiasm is affecting your handling manner. I’m glad you didn’t get bit but you’re putting yourself into some bad postures & positioning! Re-evaluate some of your handling please !
Beautiful tiger snake, jet black with yellow bands are magnificent color, very deadly if you provoke, i know a professional snake catcher here in Victoria Australia and he was bitten and nearly died in hospital.

You're braver than me. When I was up far north Queensland I saw one cassowary and we both backed away from each other. I know a guy who was out for 2 years after a tiger bit him in a vein. Another guy I know lost his sense of smell and taste from a tiger bite. Peter Mirchin (sp?) did studies on venoms and the Krefft's tiger was the most potent or the peninsula I forget. The late Eric Worrel used to drink a lot and then get a tiger to bite him and explain the symptoms, his wife went crazy over it and left him.
I love your videos Jack. I have learned so much from you. I was terrified of snakes and now my daughter has a hypo salmon red tail boa, a Roswell ladder tail boa, a albino lipstick kaul junglow boa, and a blue eyed Lucy ball. And I love ALL of them. Ty for opening my eyes to these beautiful animals!!! And I had a van that had six big female black widows in it. And before your videos I would not even drive it, but now I have a better understanding of them and realize they didn't want to kill me, just wanted to exist. Tysm again!!!! Much Love from Florida!
He has a skill of being able to handle the snake without freaking it out. The snake clearly was not agitated based on the fact that it didn't do the hood thing and you could just see that it was relatively calm. The only time it looked even a little bit sketchy was after he put it down.
Great video. I completely forgot about tigers until today. Usually it’s browns and taipans that make the list and the tigers get left behind the tv stars of death. Very cool snake. Almost like an adder and cobra had a baby.
Tiger snakes get twice the size and larger compared to the one caught in this footage. Ive encountered many of them and once i had a 5ft tiger slither over my foot, i heard its scales crisply rattle i looked down and saw it on my boot so i stayed still and it continued on its way into the grasses. We often get them mid spring into early mid summer breeding hunting in rural zones.
Omg 😱!!! Jack finally decided to do a snake bite side quest!!! I hope this continues to be the trajectory of your channel because there are a lot of snakes I’d love to see get bitten by 🤣
Many years ago a family had just arrived in Western Australia from Britain and bought a house just down the street from me. We lived in a rural setting with snakes everywhere both Tigers and Dugites. The parents were unaware of the dangers these snakes posed. The mother looking out from the kitchen window noticed her young daughter (3) playing with what appeared to be a stick in the bush garden it turned out to be a Tiger Snake my next door neighbor being a retired nurse applied first aid for snake bite and rushed the child to hospital. Sadly the child went into a coma and passed away - so sad.
Bravo. This was an extremely well done video, one of your best by far, man. Great progression of story AND information, can really see the new concepts starting to take form!
Do a video on these unusual Australian animals that few have even heard of, much less seen: Wagyl, Tiddalik, Rainbow Serpent, Bunyip, Otways Panther, Hawkesbury River Monster, Burrunjo, Yowie, or the Drop Bear.
We’re it that I had the cash for that kind of travel…. Nice looking reptile. Ever been bit? I was. Water moccasin as a kid. Damn near lost it. No anti-venin back then. Fouled up my organs.
Most of my encounters around my area are increasingly Tiger snakes. Most of the pets around my neighbourhood are killed by Tiger snakes. I was ‘dry bitten’ by a snake as I was getting through a tree that had fallen across a local bush track. I felt a bang on my leg and sharp pain. Once I was out the other side of the fallen tree I had two puncture marks on my leg but I wasn’t sure if I was actually bitten or I had been stuck by sharp branches as I didn’t actually see the snake… I walked back to the car slowly as I was alone & there was no mobile phone service where I was… but yep… turned out I received a ‘dry bite’ which is the snake telling you to back off without wasting its venom. However you still get a little bit of residual venom off the fangs as well as all the awesome bacteria. I still suffered light symptoms and stayed over night in hospital under supervision. I did have a cracking headache, aching in the knee and hip joints and very slight nausea. It was generally a pretty uncomfortable experience but was told nothing like the real deal. The bite took a couple of months to heal properly and I had to have a few courses of antibiotics.
Most Aussie snakes have girly and small fangs. If you wear decent footwear and pants, most snakes in Australia can't bite you. To me, the scariest snake here in Australia is the death adder. They don't run away, have the quickest bite of any snake, and have large, powerful fangs
The biggest fear ismt how fast the strike is, its how easy they are to step on lol Thats why you stomp in the bush. Let em know youre there so they can move, because gods know we wont see them in the tussocks Im up in the snowys and we get some gorgeous tiger and red belly black snakes. I remember we got a tiger hatchling at my high school once, we got put in lockdown whilst local handlers picked him up :>
I decided to take a break sitting on a small granite rock in the foothills of Perth looking down I saw a Death Adder wedged between my rock and the one next to me. Looking up at me flicking its tongue as if to say what do you want.
Thanks Jack. Seems most venonmess snakes have evolved to subdue their primary prey. Wonder why all three versions of venom for frogs? Apparent overkill. Note to self: absolutely NO exchanging of spit with tiger snakes! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It is amazing you had to go to the bush to find a tiger snake. You could have just walked around my backyard. I see them regularly. Of course the bite could be deadly but their first mechanism is to stay still and hope you haven't noticed them. I had one that lived near my house that decided my back step was a good place to shed its skin. Others lived in the blackberries. They would sit on the canes and look out. They were safe from me and I was safe from them. In effect they are so common that bites are surprisingly rare. One day I was sitting on a rock and a tiger snake slithered along and just past my toes. It kept going without even noticing I was there. I don't like them near the house but they haven't given me any trouble.
Yup, definitely not getting bit by this one! What a beauty, though. He looks really mean, looking at his face and the scales around his eyes, you know he means business

Coyote Peterson and Jack Schonhoff are wandering around in the Outback one day when Coyote yells, "Jack! I'm bit! He got me right on the you-know-what!" Jack wanders just out of earshot, whips out his phone and calls a medical doctor, who instructs him to suck out the venom. Coyote hollers, "What's does he say?" Jack hollers back, "He says you're gonna die!"
I get the feeling that this snake is either semi drugged or his venom taken out before filming…. Just a personal theory of mine. Most animals are very unpredictable… Especially the venomous ones.

Once one of these snakes or any venomous snake bites how long until their venom is ready again? Is it right away?
