The King cobra (Ophiophagus hannah) is the longest venomous snake in the world and the Mulga snake (Pseudechis australis) is the largest venomous snake of Australia. Both species have huge venom yields and they prey upon other snakes. Both the King cobra and the Mulga snake /King brown snake are very powerful. But which one is deadlier? In this video we use 5 categories to find out who would win a hypothetical battle between these deadly snakes! We compare the behavior, size, speed, venom and also how difficult it is to handle these snakes.
Remember that snakes are never aggressive, only defensive if they feel threatened! Calm handler = calm snake. - Домашні улюбленці та дикі тварини
Love the vids. Keep up the great work.
Glad you like them! Thank you!
Thank u 4 another great video
Thank you for coming to our channel regularly!
Living Zoology you always do great comparisons.
I agree with you the King Cobra only because of its size but it would be no pushover the two snakes of comparable size would be a much more interesting contest. One advantage the Mulga has is it can strike faster holds on and delivers equally large amounts of venom. We know both snakes are immune to the most lethal neurotoxins of the Elapidae although snakes from a different geographical area may not be immune to each other's venom whether the Mulga is immune to the KCs venom may be debatable but is the KC able to tolerate massive doses of highly potent mycotoxins, cytotoxins, hemotoxins, and other compounds in the venom?
It may be the case that both snakes end up dead.
The King cobra and the Mulga snake of a similar size would be a tough battle for sure. The King cobra is not fully immune even to venoms of snakes it hunts naturally. It is very probable that both species would have troubles surviving a bite from each other. Thank you for watching!
Yes, it seems that the King Cobra may not be immune to the Mulga's 4 different venom types whereas the Mulga is immune to the deadliest snake in the world, the Inland Taipan. If the Mulga bit the King Cobra first, with its faster strike, I don't see how the King Cobra could come out the winner.

Big hello from Bali Reptile Reacue again. Another great Vid. Who did you the filming with for the Mulga, was it Rex in Alice Springs?
Hello! Thank you! We met Rex but he did not even allow us to film his rescues due to legislation in Northern Territory. We usually work alone, we found Mulgas by ourselves :)
Thank you for this comprehensive
I agree with the verdict, the King wins. But, for me, I think it’s the King’s intelligence that makes the difference.
Yes, the King cobra is definitely very intelligent!
"The most dangerous snake is the one that just bit you" - Viperkeeper, Al Coritz. That guy knows venomous snakes.
Yes, when you are bitten by a venomous snake…It never happened to us, so we don’t know that feeling 🙂

Right even a copperhead bite isn’t gonna be a fun time.
Where in Australia did you shoot this footage? Nice vid btw!
Thanks a lot! It's from the southern part of the Northern Territory.

When I was a child a kid in my class brought a live brown snake (which is more poisonous then the king brown a.k.a mulga snake) to school on the bus in a box. His dad apparently caught it whilst gardening after finding it nesting near his house . He showed the class the snake for morning news and then the teacher put it in its box on the shelf until home time when the kid took it back home and let it go. This was in the late 80's and I guess this would be frowned upon these days .
Interesting, it sounds like it happened during the 80's!
eastern brown snake are not poisonous.
@@graemebell8929 True, Eastern brown snakes are venomous.
@@graemebell8929I have a feeling that he’s referring to the Pseudonaja genus of brown snake found in Australia, not the Storeria genus of North America. Both genus have a snake called the eastern brown snake but the one found in Australia is considered the second most venomous land snake in the world.
If he’s in North America though, whoever told him that it is more venomous than the king brown snake would have to be an idiot. That is definitely a possibility since I had a pet shop owner that said he was a snake expert tell me that I needed to be careful with my king snake. I asked why and this idiot actually said that because they ate rattlesnakes, it made their bite poisonous. First off, that is plainly BS and second, snake people don’t say poisonous when they mean venomous.

1500mg of venom from Mulga!! Wow! Given the toxicity, it’s amazing. Great video, once again.
Both these snakes inject huge amounts of venom! Thank you for watching our video! 🙂
even with that venom..it cant survive in front of king cobra..
Where was the battle take place?
These snakes live on different continents.
Considering both snakes have considerable resistance to venom I'm not sure how the venom even matters. Yes cobras are resistant to potent venom, but the mulga is resistance to more highly venomous snakes than the king cobra will encounter. King cobra may win but I'm not sure venom will play much of a role in it
We are comparing snakes using different categories and the venom is one of them.
King Cobras are the toughest snakes alive.
They are very tough, yes!
They can be be under the right circumstances
@@vinyl6668 Incorrect. There are no circumstances in which the King Cobra is not the toughest snake alive.
@@victorcarbino8736 I think a few vipers could beat it, but big enough things with a puncture wound to the head
@@vinyl6668 Not even the black-headed bushmaster would be a match for the king.
Two of my favorite snake species! Very large venomous snakes with huge venom yields and they both like eating other snakes!
Thank you for watching! We agree that these snakes are amazing!
I don't think a King Cobra would be able to eat a Mulga Snake . The Mulga Snake venom is very potent and they have built in chemical defences against bites from other more toxic venom Australian snakes and as seen with all snake fights both snakes are bitten in the struggle. The King Cobra would probably die after a confrontation with a Mulga Snake. Australian land snakes venom is the most potent in the world closely followed African snakes such as Black Mambas. The Mulga Snake would not be able to eat a King Cobra unless it was a baby.
Who knows how immune the Mulga snake is against venom of a snake which does not live in Australia. Also, the King cobra is intelligent and when it attacks venomous snakes it grabs them by the head so they don’t bite. Who knows what would happen if these two met, that’s why we compare them using 5 categories.
It's a bit sad that people fear the King so much when in reality it has a pretty good temperament coupled with their intelligence. Like with any snake, just leave it be and it will leave you be.
We agree! King cobras are so calm and peaceful!

I think your median LD rating of the King Brown is wrong, research i have read from the Australian Universities state it as the same as a King Cobra,.
So what is the correct value according to your opinion?
Fabulous video of two most deadliest 🐍 🐍
Thank you very much!
It could be easier to compare if the information of these two species was listed side by side instead of one after the other.
We use this approach because we want to show great footage of both species and jumping from one to another immediately would be confusing.

Thanks for watching! King cobras are usually very calm snakes 🙂
Seriously? what is the likelihood of those two snakes ever encountering one-another? AND - if they did the Cobra would be nothing but a meal for the Mulga me thinks.
This video tries to show which snake is more deadly. The result of the fight would depend on the size of those two snakes.
we do know the Cobra grows larger. I gues we could pitt the Taipan against the Black Mamba but these (to my knowledge ) are not snake eaters @@LivingZoology

I dont get how the cobra wins in the venom category. I reckon the mulga snake wins as the deadlier snake. but that is just my opinion.
We compare LD50 values for these snakes and the King cobra has a slightly more toxic venom.
Both these snakes are stunning creatures who fill similar ecological niches on different continents, I feel sad that some people feel the need to keep such amazing wild animals as "pets".

Nice work. King cobras are also much closer to humans.
Thanks! King cobras are snakes the same way as the Mulga snake, so similarly far away from humans 🙂 But we get your point, they are so intelligent!
Thus far I was always sure that the King Cobra venom is purely neurotoxic.
Many people think so!
Against each other, king cobra wins. But i would not want to be bitten by a mulga, they just don't let go.
Yes, Mulgas bite and hold, they inject huge amounts of venom.
di negara saya banyak spesies ular yang memangsa sesama ular seperti ular cobra (naja sputatrix), (bungarus fasciatus), (bungarus candidus), (ptyas carinata)..

The King Cobra Isn't really a cobra but a species of Mamba!!
King Cobra Ophiophagus Hannah species elapid family of snakes . Black Mamba Dendroaspis Polylepis species elapid family of snakes . They are related but not the same species of snakes .
@@richardhincemon the reason King cobra doesn't belong to cobra as a species but related to Mamba, thats the message!.

The King cobra is more closely related to mambas than to true cobras.

Thanks!
King cobra would win, but it wouldn’t be easy since both have an immunity to venom.
Actually, it is thought that the King cobra does not have a full immunity to other snake’s venoms. That is why when the King cobra hunts a venomous snake, it grabs it specifically behind the head so it cannot be bitten.
@@LivingZoology again the king cobra would have to use its strength since they’re both immune venom
@@vinyl6668 King Cobra Ophiophagus Hannah is not immune to snake venom they kill by biting other snakes behind the head and overpowering them. Mulga snake is the largest venomous snake of Australia, it is a powerful species indeed!
But not more than the King. King is majestic🔥
@@ronsall7901 I actually prefer the Australian snakes, so deadly so many types.
@@user-mg8tw7yo4f Yes, they are so deadly in terms of their venom but not powerful as the King by strength. King Cobra's venom yield is much higher than the Australian's & also have higher muscle power as constrictor.
@@ronsall7901 They do not have anywhere near the venom yield of Australian snakes. That Mulga is 10 times as deadly as the Cobra and will not let go. When they milk the King Brown, they have to let the glass go in with the snake, then retrieve it when it lets go..

The king cobra would defeat a mulga and devour it, it’s bite force is very powerful, and they are immune from other venomous snakes
An adult Mulga snake would eat a small King cobra :) But yes, if an adult Mulga snake and an adult King cobra meet, the King cobra wins. However, the King cobra is not fully immune to venoms of other snakes.
The King Cobra wouldn't last very long in the outback, nor the Mulga in the jungle. They are adapted for very differnt environments!
It would be interesting to compare fatalities on a per square mile basis, factoring in number of humans per square mile. I think on this basis the Mulga would be the most deadly by far, as it is more aggressive the K Cobra.
No snake is aggressive, only defensive when it feels threatened. Mulga snakes bite more people than King cobras, yes.
@@LivingZoology Yet the Mulga lives in a very much lower humans per square mile region.
@@hampshireoak Both snakes have large range and mostly live far away from people. Even in India King cobras bite people very rarely because they are shy, secretive and usually don’t come close to cities or villages.

Myotoxic venom destroys the muscle tissue.
