Definitely you... since April we have fished Canada's Far North Arctic, Mexico, Alaska, California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Utah, and Florida... assuming I didn't forget any... not kidding. Excellent presentation on the buzz bait. The last segment where Tim demonstates how to cast and begin retrieving the lure before it can sink will be so helpful to me. I struggle to get the lure going before it collects grass beneath it. I'll certainly cast on braid going forward. Thank you.

Caught my PB largemouth on a buzzbait just the other day! It was 3 lbs. I'm from Montana where the state record is only 8.8 lbs lol so a 3 pounder is pretty decent I guess! I'm excited to break my goal of a 5 pounder. I'm hoping I can get that done this year, so I can start travelling more and pull a 10 pounder out from somewhere some day! But for now I'm focusing on a 5. I hear there is a good population of largemouth in a lake a couple hours away from me. I can't wait to get there and do some bassin!

What’s up Matt and Tim! Unrelated to this video but wondering your guys’ opinion on switching out bearings on a bait caster, specifically a Shimano Citica 200HG. I know it’s not the top of the line by any means, but as a 23 year old I’m working with what I have. I see a lot of people trying out these ceramic bearing from companies like Spool Speed and Boca and I cannot find an honest review. What would you guys suggest? Keep what I have or do a slight upgrade and switch out the bearings? Thanks you guys!

Great video Tim. Wish I would have thought about a buzz bait when I was on the water yesterday. Conditions exactly like you described. My Whopper Plopper kept collecting the grass so I went to a Teckel Sprinker frog. Got at least 15 bites but did not boat a single fish. You think you or Matt could do a video on fishing one of those. Really started to pick up the buzz bait this year. I never had confidence in them until I forced myself to fish em until I started catching. Now they are a strong go to in my box. My favorite thing to do with them is to tick the cover, just enough to mess the action up for a second, seems like the most aggressive strikes come from doing that!

Right now I don't need 8 different rod and reels. One day I hope to have a rod and reel for my crank baits, one for my frogs ( just brought my first three and cant wait to try. Been insanely how here) etc. Right now I just own a spinning reel combo that I got from Academy Sports.

They have a BOGO sale and I'm really interested in it, but I've also heard good things about Enigma rods as well. I'm a big fan of supporting and buying brands that arent the big names, and supporting those companies, but with that comes hesitation. I'm looking for a combo that I can throw pretty much anything with becuase I only have about $200 to spend. Any input on either of those brands? Or advice on the best baitcast/rod for around $200? I saw the video on the Shimano SLX and St. Croix Bass X, and am heavily debating those as well.

He mentioned that in the video but basically it boils down to buzzbaits being better over grass that is right under the surface ( vs. a whopper plopper, etc with belly trebles) and certain buzzbaits are able to be skipped which a whopper plopper or other surface bait cannot.

If anyone here can help: Is there a preferred line to tie to the buzzbait? I am almost always using braid as my main line and it seems like the line is getting tangled up in the prop or the wire of the lure. Do you guys use a leader like mono or fluro? I'd hazard a guess and say mono since fluro sinks and you don't want that on a topwater lure.
    Thanks!

I'm having trouble preventing a buzzbait from running on its side(not veering to the right or left, but actually laying on the side while running). It's infuriating. I try fast reels, slow reels, large blades, small blades, counter-rotating blades, with a skirt, without a skirt, frog trailer, swimbait trailer, creature trailer, no trailer, bending the wire in all kinds of different ways. NOTHING works other than running it SO SLOW that it almost sinks. There has GOT to be some kind of secret to tuning these things. Please help!!!

Don't buy cheap braid like Power Pro! It Fraze really easy and loses it color very quickly. I switched to Suffix 832 green moss 30 pound braid. It is strong holds color really well. Then make sure if your lines bury in to the reel. Using needle nose pliers bends the braid and Fraze it also which causes breakages. Not setting your reel properly or your line wrapping around the in of your rod. Will snap the braid too. Use a Palmor knot. Hope this helps you out! Shawn.
