That "mi xao tao quan" was very popular in my younger days, as it was one of the first dry noodle brands sold in Vietnam and it comes with the box to drain the water and the plastic fork. When the country was poor, nobody wanted to pay for those "extras", but as the economy grew, people started to appreciate the convenience that packaging brings
Chad!! The holy trinity of instant noodles are Shin Ramyun BLACK, Buldak Carbonara, and the Baijia Instant Vermicelli. All super different vibes, all amazing in their own way. Shin Black is my go-to
That last one is from the "Buldak" (Bul = Fire and Dak = chicken) line from Samyang...there's at least about 8-10 different flavors (Carbonara, Habanero Lime, Jjjang, etc.) and their signature taste is SPICY. I don't know if you recently saw but Denmark has banned these noodles and pulled them off the shelves because of the spice level being possibly "toxic" for consumption.
Update: A few days ago Denmark lifted the ban 2 our of the 3 Samyang Buldak Ramyun stating the capsaicin levels does not exceed standard and those are back on shelves.
Not quite, Miliket was the second instant noodle to enter the Vietnamese market - but they were a lot more popular. Miliket is often used as noodles for hotpot due to its affordability, and people tend to discard the seasoning package because it sucks. I remeber the flavour used to be a lot worst - it got this weird chemicaly taste to it. Fun fact: We also call them “mì cân (kilogram noodle)” as they used to be sold in a kg bag.
So surprised you’re not familiar with the Buldak line of noodles! They’re all spicy. Would love to see you try all of their flavors. I love Samyang’s noodle textures
As an instant noodle lover, I would recommend you some other types to try, I'm typing in VNese so you can also easily searching them: - Mì spaghetti Bistro (there are 2 flavours you can try both); - Miến măng gà & Phở bò - Chinsu (I suggest the bowl option cause it look more premium 😂 ) - Cup noodles Hải sản Nhật Bản flavour & Cua sốt cay Singapore flavour - NISSIN (I like the broth, but not the noodles, too soft for me) - Mì trộn mama trứng muối flavor & tomyum flavor - OK; - Jin jjajang ramen - Ottogi (Same product line with Jin ramen, but it's jjajang) - Mì lạnh Omachi vị Xốt Táo - Omachi (not my highly recommended, but it's fun to try) These above may not be in high tier, but hopefully you would have fun in exploring various kind of flavour and instant noodles.

If you want to try something spicy, the green one is sour and spicy, I believe it’s better than the Hao Hao because the noodles is thick. I highly recommend!!!!
Hey there's a "meme" noodle that was incredibly trendy on social media awhile ago, the "Mì Thanh Long Caty", which they infused Dragon Fruit into the noodle. You should really try them, as they come in like a big box of different style and varieties as well so there's no lacking for content just from tasting one brand.
Bún Bò Huế that you’ve found in the South, like HCMC, always is served with thick noodles but actually the original Bún Bò Huế in Huế and Đà Nẵng is different. so I think that Instant BBH somehow has presented the original one quite accurately
In the next part, u can try the noodles in the box, it's different from the original (omachi in the box hits differently). Recommend the self-boiling hot pot "Lẩu riêu cua" from Masan and also the line Hủ tiếu, miến from Acecook
In long time ago, when people were in poor, they bought miliket noodles because it was extremely cheap (simple noodles). Later, the economy improved and many types of noodles were born, so they were used to using new types of various flavors, including pho and rice noodles... Now, they use it almost exclusively for hot pot because it's cheap. However, Vietnamese people still do not forget the memories of poverty with Miliket noodles. ❤
It's... partly. Old Miliket mì 2 tôm had the real taste of shrimp, yes you really can taste it. Now most of the instant noodles just have artificial msg.
I love this series! Again, you have opened my eyes to instant noodles that I have never heard. I'm not sure if I would eat one with tomato sauce or cheese powder. And I'm too old to be eating spicy seasoning. 😂
If you're looking for the best instant noodles, Prima laksa lamian is the way to go. Quality-wise, I've never had anything that could beat its flavour depth and sophistication, plus it claims no msg. Korean Paldo company used to have Bul Jjamppong developed by chef Lee Yeon Bok and the broth was amazing with real smokey flavour. Their contract ended though and they've repackaged it but I'm not sure if it tastes the same.
