We had a shower leak in our brand new build home. It was the shower over the kitchen, I noticed water spots. Kept an eye on them, when they got bigger I called the builder. They had to cut open the ceiling. The insulation was absorbing most of the water, but it would have eventually been saturated. The leak was caused by them not using the silicone to seal one of the fittings. We had a big hole in our kitchen ceiling for a week while the moisture dried. Definitely use extra silicone.

Hey man, just wanted to thank you for your channel. I completely gutted and am remodeling my master bathroom alone with 0 experience in carpentry beforehand. Vast majority of the knowledge I gained to tackle it came from your well-presented videos.
Bathroom looks great and thanks for the shout out 😊 Love the full tiled wall and awesome work on the custom vanity. So excited to see the rest of the projects of your home!
maaaan this is so cool to see. Getting some creative insight with this beautiful bathroom. Love to see the torch marks on the mixing valve studs. I'd say it's better to tile first and vanity after so you can put the ladder straight up against the wall to tile close to the ceiling without stepping on the vanity. Also makes it easyer to not worry about cutting tiles close to fit to the vanity. That is a lot of tile cutting! Glad to see you coming so far to buy and renovate your own home, a prophecy fulfilled from your early videos where you said "If I do enough of these bathrooms, Maybe one day I'll own one." and now you have! Congratz brother.
We were planning to choose grey floors and black faucets for our bathrooms, but this video made us change our mind. Great choice of colors and craftsmanship.
Oh man, I can't believe I missed this video. I LOVE the small rectangular artisan tiles. And you did a beautiful job with the custom vanity. I always learn what not to do as I go with home renovation, which kinda sucks when you invest time and money into something that doesn't pan out. It's still a valuable experience to find out what works best or is the most efficient. I think I would have put the green tiles on the wall rather than in the shower because they're so beautiful and deserve to be seen. With the gold faucets and sconces? Ugh, that would be sooo gorgeous. But it's your own home so I hope you're content with the end result. 😊 Be proud, it looks beautiful.
Congrats on the new place! 🎉 The bathroom reno looks incredible, and we’re so excited to see our HOROW T05🚽as part of it. Thanks for featuring us in your new home-can’t wait to see more!
Welcome back. I love the finished work. If I won the lottery I'd fly you to my province and let you renovate the entire house; I love your work. I'm excited to see how you renovate the rest of your home.
9:47, keep the white tape hasple the other way around. That way you do not have to do that thingy with your thumb. Thus then the tape goes over the thread and then down towards the hasple. In the vid you have the tape on top of the thread and the on top of the hasple ( that white round holder). When the tape goes over the thread and then down to the hasple, you make the tension with the hasple and you do not need to use your thumb like that anymore. Like the 8 form or like the S shape.
Looks great. I like how you built the window frame in one piece and put it in. I thought I was the only one that did that. Definitely the high quality way of doing it. You can always judge skill level by the little things like that.
Just bought my house and I watch your videos hoping one day I’ll get the courage to DIY Reno vs paying someone. I think I’ll take the leap after my wedding. 😅 good work man love your channel. One of the best out there, straightforward. No production, no gimmicks. Love it
Looks great Liam! I like the combination of gold and black. We’re glad that you have finally found your home. Looking forward to see more of your renovations. Salutations to you and your coworker Sebastian. You’re a great team 😊
Im gonna be doing a full gut reno for my in laws bathroom after doing some major reno work in our own place for the first time and your vids have been incredibly informative. Oh and congrats on the new place!
Well done once again! great choices and impeccably executed in every respect, as usual. Interesting way to Y the singk drains. I just did a Y in the middle and put a cleanout access just below it if it ever needs snaking, but I am no pro. On a side tangent, I wonder why more folks don't opt for a shower panel instead of having all the plumbing behind the wall? I put shower panels in 3 of my bathroom renos and I love them. Upside is they are very easy to remove and replace completely with a new one if it every suffers some kind of failure. The 2 in my house have an LCD displaying the water temperature so I can get it just right before entering the shower, and cost $250 cdn each. cool LED lights built in powered by the water flow, no wiring needed. Much simpler plumbing and a single hole the pex pokes out of high up on the wall. fwiw
Thanks! A clean out would be simpler but then you need to be able to access it through the vanity. Personally I just prefer the look of standard fixtures over a shower panel but to each their own!
As someone who has 4 x 4 in grouted tiles in their shower my immediate thought when I saw the 2 x 6 tiles going in was that is going to be a b to clean. Eventually I will talk my husband into redoing our bathroom. Its OG to the house (1986) he wants to do a walk in shower but honestly if we are doing it ourselves id rather just shove another tub in there and use large format tiles for the tub surround.
Also want to add that i just went in and measured everything in our master bath.... looks like we will need a custom vanity done as our double sink vanity spans the entire 8'3" wall. oi vei
The only fallback to using a drywall screw vs a structural screw I would imagine is longevity in strength and exposure to moisture. I realize the systems you use, installation, and execution is above industry standard. I just can’t help but think about longterm movement around the fastening points. Drywall screws aren’t the strongest, but the load on your tub won’t weaken them too much. It’s definitely one of those circumstances where it’s fine and will be, but maybe susceptible to (one of those) long term situations we don’t foresee. Probably fine though bro. Good work man!
Instead of screwing plywood into the niche and having to patch it, you could cut two spacers that would hold the plywood up. Alternatively, you could use two trigger clamps in spreader mode to hold the plywood up. Beautiful job, btw.
Hi. Nice work! Can you tell me who makes that baseboard and casing profile? I don't know if it will help, because I don't live in Canada, but it might. Thanks.
What I love most about the toilet that there is no ugly tank showing. I would prefer a wall hung one. Still wondering when you will install that some time. (I' ve got 2 in our house, space saving, clean looking, a breeze to clean around and under).
I do have a video up where we installed a wall hung toilet. They are nice but most people don’t want to pay that price for a toilet. Especially now a days when for the same money you can get a bidet toilet like this one with all sorts of features

If you feel like royalty using the new smart toilet, you will be giving it the royal flush after every use. I see why you wished you had gone with gold in the shower. It would have provided uniformity as well as symmetry, but in the end, it still looks high end and luxurious on a budget. Nice shout out to Golden Key Design, I have been subscribed to them for a while, and their bathroom renovation was beautifully done as well.
Water moisture will get those fasteners and over time they will rust and tore apart. Might take a few years but will happen. These fastener don’t do anything but just secured the tub to the wall. If they all break your tub unlikely move unless someone push it out.
I wish you made a walkthrough on the measurements. like how you find where to drill the holes in the drywall, in the sink for the faucets, and how you knew where to cut the tiles between the mirrors to find the electric wires.

I was told that schluter doesn’t recommend running the drita over the self leveler (not sure why) but was there something you needed to address to make it work?
Nope! I had cement ready for that purpose but when I was looking through the tubs sheets it said specifically not to do that. I suppose the idea is the black grid system underneath will fulfill that purpose. So far it’s been great, feels solid but we’ll see how it holds up.
Question, those gang able boxes do you still like to use such small boxes. With new smart switches they are so big and need more room. I have personally gone to 3" deep boxes and it makes wiring so much easier with the extra space. Any reason why you like the smaller ones?
Honestly it’s just as simple as habit. Back when I did electrical full time we would only use deep boxes when code dependant and I’ve just kinda kept doing that. For bathroom switch boxes it would make more sense to use the deeps for sure as almost all the switches end up being larger smart switches. However because I’ve done so much electrical work I’ve never had a problem with wire management and making them fit. But that would be a good idea for future projects as it will make it easier on the next guy and myself
@@WorkinwithWolkon Thanks for the reply and answer. Renovating my bathroom right now too. Looks like we chose the same tub. My builder has never used the tub frame that came with the tub, and is contemplating still using a mortar bed with it. What do you think?

Pex a is superior in every way Faster to make connections, easier to make connections, more flexible piping We used to use pex b because the expansion tool for pex a is costly but if you do enough of this it just makes sense
Where can I buy the smart toilet (Harrow T05)? I contacted the manufacturer and was told there is no distributer of this toilet or brand in Canada. I am surprised because you said (in the video) that you were given this unit for your review
Question! What course do u do to become a general tradesmen like you? U do plumbing, plastering, electric, tiling and etc, its almost 3 yrs course each in the uk
OBSERVATION...i always wondered why contractors throw debris on the ground, then pick it back up, then lug it to the dumster then throw it away...when demo occurs, why not throw it in a container, wagon or box and save a step? Great vids
Almost all of our projects are on second floors which means carrying it out in a garbage bin down the stairs. Ripping things apart and then carrying them down a flight of stairs is extremely tiring. It just feels easier to demo a good amount and then switch over to transportation mode. Almost like switching muscle groups during a workout and allowing the previous group to rest
Nope, chances are there were materials in this house that did contain asbestos. We used respirators, negative air and a hepa vac for anything that created dust or was suspect. The hvac system was also off during the entire process and ducts were plugged
Question : why put in a rainhead where the showerhead is supposed to go. Why not just run a line to the ceiling and have the rainhead come from there? Rainheads coming out of the wall always look chintzy to me. Excellent otherwise.
1. Most kits will include a wall mounted rain head instead of a ceiling mount so it’s just more readily available 2. It’s a lot more work to have to come from the ceiling then from the wall 3. With it coming from the wall it can be easily changed for a regular shower head as not everybody likes rain heads

Question: when you cutout the 2X4 & install 2X6 on the vanity wall do you go to other side and reinstall drywall screws?
Of course
Water moisture will get those fasteners and over time they will rust and tore apart. Might take a few years but will happen. These fastener don’t do anything but just secured the tub to the wall. If they all break your tub unlikely move unless someone push it out.
I just don’t follow that logic though

Have you used type B for pex and if so, why do you prefer type A over B?
Pex a is superior in every way
Faster to make connections, easier to make connections, more flexible piping
We used to use pex b because the expansion tool for pex a is costly but if you do enough of this it just makes sense
Hi. No metal plates over the electrical?
3/4 hole in the centre of the studs don’t require protection plates
i was looking forward to your next video
Thanks for that!
Where can I buy the smart toilet (Harrow T05)? I contacted the manufacturer and was told there is no distributer of this toilet or brand in Canada. I am surprised because you said (in the video) that you were given this unit for your review
I’ve just updated the description, they’ve launched the Canadian site now

OBSERVATION...i always wondered why contractors throw debris on the ground, then pick it back up, then lug it to the dumster then throw it away...when demo occurs, why not throw it in a container, wagon or box and save a step?
Great vids
Almost all of our projects are on second floors which means carrying it out in a garbage bin down the stairs. Ripping things apart and then carrying them down a flight of stairs is extremely tiring. It just feels easier to demo a good amount and then switch over to transportation mode. Almost like switching muscle groups during a workout and allowing the previous group to rest
Was that a P-trap or an S-Trap for the drain?
Always p trap never s trap
Very nice
Thanks!
Did you test for asbestos before doing the demo?
Nope, chances are there were materials in this house that did contain asbestos. We used respirators, negative air and a hepa vac for anything that created dust or was suspect. The hvac system was also off during the entire process and ducts were plugged
Well done
Thanks Mario
Question : why put in a rainhead where the showerhead is supposed to go. Why not just run a line to the ceiling and have the rainhead come from there? Rainheads coming out of the wall always look chintzy to me.
Excellent otherwise.
1. Most kits will include a wall mounted rain head instead of a ceiling mount so it’s just more readily available
2. It’s a lot more work to have to come from the ceiling then from the wall
3. With it coming from the wall it can be easily changed for a regular shower head as not everybody likes rain heads
It's not good. It's beautiful
Thank you!
