I have Shimano Calcutta Conquest DC 100 and DC 200HG reels. Shimano manual says NOT to put the line through the holes because there would be contact between the line and the inner spool support mechanism. The advise is to align the knot you tie over a hole in the spool.

But what do you do if there's no holes in the spool? Do you use hemostats to grab the line because I do it makes it a lot easier
