If you want to use up those dates, I recently found a 'sticky date pudding' overnight weetbix, but I imagine it could be made as overnight oats or porridge. Works well for old dates because they absorb the liquid and then they're just a sweet flavour really. Oh and your texture comment made me think how I find eating a dried apricot gives me a nice chewy texture and somehow stops the craving to eat any sweet junk in the cupboard.
I find that drinking black coffee with a sweet treat dulls my urge to splurge. (Bitter and sweet is so yum.) My weakness is bread. I love me some bread.
Would recommend watching an interview with Jessie Inchauspée who advises the order in which to each foods so you don’t get such big sugar spikes! I’ve found it useful, I don’t have such a big crash in the afternoon
Dates and peanut butter are amaaaazing. I'm at that point that natural peanut butter is more delicious to me, so the extra sugar feels unnecessary. If you haven't put dates in your oatmeal yet...girl. ❤
