- This gameplay tutorial for Mechwarrior Online shows you how to utilize your Mech to it's best extent. I'll give you a rundown of the build and what it is made for and show you the actual combat role in two games on the battlefield.
Mechwarrior Online is a competitive first person shooter where you build and pilot massive Mechs and prove yourself on the battlefield. The game is based on the Battletech franchise, which originally was a science fiction tabletop game in the 80s. Big part of the game is configuring your loadout and find the best match of missile, ballistic and energy weapons for your playstyle. The weapon variety ranges from devastating autocannons over particle projectors to deadly arrays of laser beams. On the battlefield your team of 12 Mechwarriors fight the enemies on rather small arena-type maps. Teamwork is crucial here because a single Mech does not survive long if it steps in front a full firing line. Communication and teamwork is key on your journey to glory and victory.

I am using Haven Kendrick's Soundpack! Download it here: / haven_kendrick . To install, simply locate your Mechwarrior Online installation folder, open "Game" and you will see lots of .pak files. Drop the sound mod file into that folder with the other .pak files, restart the client, and you are good to go!

That spider at the end had the armnor of 5 Atlases.
You do only have 1 life to live in a Spider.
Also, that Spider took at least 60 damage just while he was shut down, not counting the other glancing blows you delivered!

This kind of thing happens all the time in this game. you splat like 50 damage on something and nothing happens, you just see it a lot more with faster moving mechs.
2nd game was instant classic. Down 6-9 and Bara turns on the adrenaline and just reacts to every hit and takes three down himself to even it up. Legendary, and it seemed like you should have gotten the spider too

Yeah...I have been a Shadow Hawk fan since the tabletop game, it was just a jack of all trade type of medium mech. I remember how fun it was to play on the very first Mechwarrior game too, that was some fun stuff.
That dance with multiple mechs at the second match had me at the edge of my seat. Very nice!
I would love to see Bara do something else that is online/tactical. I mainly enjoy how he can explain situations and bring a tactical approach to online play - all while explaining it to us.
I don't even play MWO and I like his videos!

What a great game 2 was.
That first game looked like it had all the hallmarks of a loss right from the start. Team spreading out too much, early death on the team, people getting stuck in the canyons. I don't think changing your approach was going to save that one.

MWO has utterly broken hitreg. The faster something goes, the worse it gets. You can break it even further with map geometry, JJs, high ping, etc.

as light ac came out i changed my scattershot to similar 3 light AC5 and 4 lrm 5 XD

been play around with the LACs and I don't like them...they are just too slow to fire rate. Even basic AC5s are just a bit to slow to be useful. the multiple rounds per shot doesn't help them either. Most of the new weapons outside of the magshot (for lights) are pretty meh.
Mag shot really helps out light mechs that have weird layouts like 4 ballistics and a single energy type thing or things like the ember are given a way to dish out more pinpoint damage over damage over time like MGs have.
LACs are all over once you hit t1. With even moderate AC quirks their damage begins to quickly surpass the DPS variance even with the slower cooldown time opposed to the standard variant. I had to swap out most of my basic AC2 and AC5 builds with LAC versions just to keep up with people at the upper echelons of T1 because of the ridiculous DPS LACs can put out.
At the same time they don't invalidate base ACs, but LACs bit that mid-to close range fighting that 90% of games boil down to, and often allow you to bring much more bang for your buck over the standard.
I think they're both getting cooldown buffs in this month's patch.
I think the light ACs are good, there are lots of medium and hvy mechs that can fit a extra gun because of the wait savings. 2 Lac5s are an ac10 for 2 less tons.
I’ve had good results in my 8 LAC Faf. Not overwhelming damage, but enough with the survivability and speed for an assault to last.
Magshot are awesome if you can boat them, otherwise they're not worth the space (damned clan space magic making their version better...again).
They pair up beautifully with snubs and srms.

Nah, just lots of burning molten Sulphur. Kinda pretty IRL, but harmful to life.

1st fight: Bad position. NEVER go into that trench. it's the trench of doom. Mechs go in and die before they can get out. Better to go to D3 and counter rotate on the high ground.
