I think General Atomics is Fallout's version of General Dynamics.
Also, the Mr Handys helped in the rebuilding efforts of Mexico City after the 2039 earthquake.
It very much could be, the were really big in America and Mexico. I wanted to fit that in but sadly these limit me to 1 minute🥲

I really just can’t believe that the Mr. Handy and it’s variants can be considered the more mentally rigid of the bunch. More often than any other robot are the Handies and even Gutsies shown to have their own complex personalities that have developed over time whereas bots like Sentries, Protectrons and Assaultrons often still stubbornly perform their preprogrammed tasks. The Handies do this too, but uniquely seem to be the only ones who pretend the world hasn’t ended out of some sort of mental trauma / coping mechanism.
I think that "old, mentally rigid" part was in reference to the Mr Handys in Fallout 1 and 2. Because thise robots were much bulkier, and you had to individually input commands for one during the Gecko power plant quest.
The newer Mr Handys seems to be the newer design that Robco helped with, since they are far more independent
They always remind me of sentry busters
What I love about the fallout series is the fact that it’s the future yet it has the 50’s era style to it, it’s somewhat comforting

While I thought this was ridiculous because of both general atomics and robco being rival companies, i remember tanks made by both Chevrolet and ford working together during WW2
The old robot eith like 6 lbs couldn't learn, the kne you showed with 3 was ulgraded and had to have inhibitors to stop it from learning to much as it could do tasks without a command unlike the early model
I love that they first thought to use brains to process information in robots before making microchips.

So Curie was upgraded to be capable of growth and adaptive thinking. But wasn’t Codsworth also capable of character development? How was he able to do that without any upgrades?
My head canon it’s that the handy model needs memory reset to keep working normal and if not doing will brake the machine to make it choose what to remember and not remember which will end in two ways, the common way it’s it just brake down and repeat it task and start glitching, the uncommon way it’s it start get self aware about it’s existence and becomes independent

Also, i remember nate talking about buying codsworth, but i wonder if his military standing could have also given them a mote advanced model or something. But i like the idea of him being a regular mr handy that became more and more self aware and sentient as time went on. 😅😁👍🏻 codswoth is one of my absolute favorites!
Yeah, Handy's shouldn't have the ability to have any kind of independent thought, in the OG Fallouts they were just beep boop robots for doing basic pre-programmed tasks. The only robots in Fallout capable of thought were the Robo-brains, and that's only because they had a human brain wired into them. (Which would degrade over time and go psychotic) Bethesda just wanted a robot companion and Handys were the most iconic Fallout robot design.
There's also the ZAX supercomputers but they are the size of a large room.

Since the voice accent for Mr. Handy is clearly a british. Up to this day i have no idea if he is either calling you mom or maam for the female character
Usually ma'am for random people, but i believe he says "Mum" since you wrre a mother if you played as a female. 😅 not fully sure, but that's what it seems like. Subtitles help too sometimes.

So WHAT THE HECK WAS TALKING TO THE SOLE SURVIVOR IN FALLOUT 4????? If this is true, the floating robot should not have been able to carry out that odd conversation with the sole survivor. No AI. So the Mr. Handy was an Institute spy the whole time? Could it have made certain bio-engineered modifications to Shaun before the planned kidnapping? This also opens a big question about Shaun's father. Was the Institute carrying out a sort of "gene seed" experiment? They KNEW that Shaun had the right mutation. They knew this because "Mr Handy" was passing information back to the Institute! Remember when the Robot mentioned "Charades?" It was a subtle give-away to the robot's true purpose. The sole-survivor never picked up on this clue. The reason why the robot didn't know anything about the kidnappers is: 1. They wiped his memory. 2. He led them to the Vault and was a prime player in the "charade" I think 2 is more likely.
What? The institute didn’t exist as it does now in 2077, it was still the CIT. plus they wanted an unmutated infant, still perfectly healthy, no dna degradation from age,

Fallout lore is so confusing to me. I thought it was set in the futuristic 50s-60s and then the Great War starts forcing everyone into vaults and then they open like 200 years later. Nope, it’s set in the future😂
