I have been a part of such a trip. Maybe some suggestions, mostly for the fast driving sections. 1. Have a lead car, which is always doing the exact speed limit (or a bit faster if the driver is confident enough), cars behind will brake to a stop, wait 30s and then try to catch up. Lead car can be one car or rotate every 1h etc. 2. Have a person who is always a map reader/spotter on the trip. The spotter is on the passenger seat of the lead car and will alert about the cars coming, police, pot holes, debris, animals etc over the radio. 3. Take a radio/walkie talkie with an external on antenna which can be mounted on the car using magnets or something along those lines. Then the range will be up to 5km.
@@thepurplesband I don’t know Sam, nor was I on the tour but the first clip shows one car, so not sure what you infer by the ‘everyone’ comment ? And then secondly, isn’t the overtake complete before the sign and also before the solid white line on the road ?
This could easily be a 1 hour special, it was that good. Amazing footage and format. Thank you, for visiting Portugal once again. Can't wait to see the next trip.
Total gem of a video, thank you very much. Amazing scenery and thank you for incorporating the viewers on your first STG Family run. Well done: planned, announced, performed, congratulations!
Sam, I really loved this video. Being a Portuguese car enthusiast, I’ve driven many of the roads featured in the video. I love the roads in the interior of Alentejo and the Serra da Estrela nature park. I do not own a super car, but I can tell you those roads are just as exciting (and maybe more demanding) in my Diesel Volvo XC90. Keep up the great content!
Shouldn't that be the logic of convoy driving: -It's better that the lead goes too fast than too slow -People follow according to their comfort levels, those who want to go slow stay at the back of the convoy -The lead slows down every once in a while. This is logical because slowing down for a short while or taking a short pause isn't painfully uncomfortable to those wanting to drive spiritedly like following behind a Mr. Driving Miss Daisy all day would be. You want the lead to drive a bit too fast rather than too slow. -Everyone should know the route before setting off. In modern days this should be incredibly easy with all the possible mapping app features for that, or with the "share my location"-feature. At minimum just plot the course on the nav and send a screenshot to everyone. That's how we convoy'd with a Carrera GT.
Funny you fiddled with the Jag’s valves. As soon as I saw what Tony turned up in I thought to myself, if I was there, the first thing I would’ve done was disconnect them on the Spyder.
This is your best piece ever Sam & Tony. We need more of this. You could invite other car UA-camrs each time. Tavarish one trip, Ed Bolian the next.....
Been looking forward to this - well done; would have loved to see more roads, driving and hotels (the complete experience). BTW, this is a brilliant business move for you. As the business grows, you can expand it to vintage cars only tours, this will allow you to delve deeper into your passions.
I do this for my friends. It helps to have two groups. One more spirited and one more of a touring pace. People always get lost, so you need to remind them to keep an eye on the people in front of them. Awesome video😊
This video is absolutely incredible. As a viewer in the US I cannot describe how badly I wish I could've come on the trip. I swear you guys have to do a US trip at some point! Please please please film every trip like this. Loved every second of it.
Looked like an epic trip. The video was beautifully shot and loved the back and fourth format from commentary to film. It shows the power of having a car interest can create great moments like this trip. Very special
Welcome back to Portugal Sam and Tony!! This video was top notch, I'm sure you all had a great time in our roads with some beautiful landscape views. Cheers from West coast, Portugal
Seeing u over in Portugal is always crazy and every time turns into the craziest and best car meet and drive of the year , thanks for coming and showing our roads
We've not really had any warm weather so far this year in the UK, so it's always nice to see these videos. Oh, and the cars, especially the Porsches, of course!
Great start! Definitely better to lead too fast than too slow. As long as everyone has access to the same route, splitting into spirited vs chill groups is the way to go. Nothing worse than being stuck behind the slows for long periods when you want to send it.
THISSSSSSS!! What a dream this looked like. Now I’ve got to find a way to get my car across the Atlantic. Hope you never stop these and maybe one day do one in the US. Sure you’d have no problem filling a group over here. Most importantly how much do I need to save for one of these?!
I gotta say you simply bring memories from Top Gear . Also stories like the roundabout , the clio incidents better seen than only heard. I’m saying more clips of on board driving and reactions . Otherwise this was pretty brilliant Sam !
I’ve done many road trip with friends with numbers but my very first was with 17 other Cars of the same make in perfect weather up the whole west coast of Scotland. At one point you didn’t see another Car out with the group for a hour as we left early. This was before the NC500 was a thing. Everything just worked and the scenery was breathtaking, people outside the group enjoyed seeing the cars all line up at places. Always think I was spoiled because everyone was just great, great company and good food and best of all just a complete laugh start to finish over hundreds of miles. We all found our grove, some liked to push on more and others like myself to take it a bit more easy but the reality was you only arrived minutes behind the first car so it was all good. I’d pull in and say something was amazing be it a view or place and some would say “ where was that” because they were so focused on the Car in front that is all they seen on sections 😂 Sorry Scotlands to beautiful to let it pass you by. The trouble is you’ll be chasing that first experience now and probably only come close. But that looked a great experience everyone enjoyed and will remember. Nothing like sitting round a table at night talking over the drive of the day.
Sam, EPIC video! I look forward to watching your videos every Sunday morning over coffee. Your videos have been such an inspiration to me and I can't wait for more and more content from you.
It's very nice to see that you enjoy Portugal so much. Makes me wanna go on my car get to know my own country a bit more 🙏🏼 Very nice to see a trip like this and really looking forward to the video because I know what's coming next 🤭😎 Keep the amazing work
Sam & Tony congratulations on a amazing road trip with some amazing cars . Cool that lot of them where part of the gt line of porches. Jag and aston look amazing but that 296 was a stunner.
The pair of U.. Brilliant. You bounce of each other like Morecambe &Wise. Really Enjoyed it. Plz Do More. Bostin Bunch of people on tour with you. All looked like they had a great Time.. The Car's Weren't bad either..😊😊
Serra da Estrela is indeed the highest point, but in continental Portugal. The highest point in Portugal is a mountain called Pico, on Pico island, in the archipelago of Azores! You can only drive to the base of the mountain though, and have to hike to the top. Loved the video! keep up the good work Sam, love the Portuguese content!
This is my dream to organize such a trip. Amazing! Portugal is obviously a great choice 👌 Ehat I believe is that you need an easy app to customize your routes and upload, share with your participants. No one would get lost 😬
Great idea to run the tour, it would be great to perhaps get to see the people who are on the tour with you and hear there experiences of the roads, also what made them decide to do the tour, and a bit about their car choice etc
Súper nice video! Really liked the cuts and talking from the studio. All I gotta say is that I’m getting Top Gear Special. Would be nice to also see a map to follow you. 🤝🏽👍🏽

Glad you enjoyed Portugal again!!! HMU when you comeback!!!
I would suggest getting in touch with GT Tourz. They organise European trips including hotel stays etc. It's not just the routes but the logistics of managing groups on the roads. I've learned loads from them for local stuff down here in Devon and they're lovely people. Petrol Ped has been on a tour with them and loved it. Worth a chat for hints and tips of how they organise things.
Any chance of sharing the route you took and hotels/dinner spots so those not lucky enough to join you and Tony can try and replicate some of it? I recognized the Torre de Palma Wine Hotel as I stayed there in March 2024. You had better weather than we did! Pissed down every day!
Well since Top Gear is no more, Sam you are our only hope.❤❤
I have been a part of such a trip. Maybe some suggestions, mostly for the fast driving sections.

Point 1 sounds terrible. Otherwise 👌
Hello one and all and welcome to the comments section
Great to see everyone breaking the law in the opening segment by overtaking where not allowed.
Good one.

@@thepurplesband the lads had a great time , that's all that matters

Love the back and forth style of this video with your commentary on it all. Great format for road trip videos!
This could easily be a 1 hour special, it was that good.
Amazing footage and format.
Thank you, for visiting Portugal once again.
Can't wait to see the next trip.

I’ve said it and I’ll say it again. This is the best automotive YT channel in the world !
Highly doubt it.

That 30 second sequence from 20:25 to 20:55 is absolutely perfect.

Nice to see Tony in front of the camera! Hope to see more content from the Dynamic Duo! 😄👍
The song and sequence at 20:54 🤌🏼 masterpiece
What amazing content.... you're the only channel I still watch from your original car fwend gang!
This is your best piece ever Sam & Tony. We need more of this. You could invite other car UA-camrs each time. Tavarish one trip, Ed Bolian the next.....
Quality of Sam's videos is fantastic. This is the one of the only channels I would pay a subscription for to support the creator.
It’s like a movie! Very well done
Congratulations Sam. It looks epic!
I really enjoyed listening to the folks that went with you, on the podcast.
Also, best wishes to Phil 😉
