Oathbreaker is a beast to behold. Caro Tanghe is an absolutely untouchable vocalist whose delivery can jump from snarling high screams to traditional growling lows to soul-crushing cleans in a single bound. The band's slamming percussion and wailing guitar lines create a grinding current for Tanghe's mesmerizing, chameleonic voice to travel within. I know Levi left Amenra and two members of Oathbreaker are also in Wiegedood who just released a new record that took them about two years to make. now that that's done here's to hoping I suppose!
They were scheduled to play Arctangent festival in the UK in 2021, it was going to be their first show together as a band in years. Unfortunately Covid delayed the festival and when it was moved to 2022 they were removed from the lineup without any reasoning. So there’s still hope that they have at least been in talks about doing shows and getting back together and if it wasn’t for covid we may have had Oathbreaker back.

-Yeah... a Banshee showed up at my uncle's window to announce his imminent death and we asked her if she wanted to sing in a black metal band and she said yes.
She really sounds haunting, when she sings clean.
Funny enough I saw them in Detroit when they were here and had to sketch a banshee when I got home.

Rheia is a true piece of art, everything is so emotional, the vocals, the instrumental performance, the production... definitely one of the greatest albums of 2016, maybe the best, one month left.

Whoa, thanks for that comment, because I might have not watched the whole thing. Nothing has hit me that hard since I had heard Rinoa for the first time. Similar vibes. If you haven't heard them, check out Rinoa - Fires in the Distant North, you'll love it. I'll need to give Oathbreaker a good listen, amazing band.

Somehow I ended up here after watching random ASMR videos, Madchild music videos, and a Hopsin video and I have to say I LOVE THIS. I'm a huge fan of Deafheaven and metal in general and this is such a beautiful mix of clean, haunting vocals and that black/doom metal-esque sound. Very awe-inspiring.
One of the best Black Gaze bands. I hate the term, but it fits. Rheia is better than anything Deafheaven has done outside if Simunbather. And even that is debateable. Their early stuff is more hardcore than Metal. Also, Brutus is monstrous, too.
Like the term black gaze better than "death metal" and all the bands with no meaning trying to be as edgy as possible to find a niche.
