Each of these video game crossovers combined some of our favorite franchises and delighted us to no end. For this list, we’ll be looking at the best video games to combine our favorite franchises. However, we’re only looking at crossovers between IPs that were established in games first. We also aren’t including crossover events. Our countdown includes “Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney” (2014), the “Project X Zone” Series (2013-16), “Pokémon Conquest” (2012), “The King of Fighters” Series (1994-), and more! I was estatic af seeing King Of Fighters included! Pure nostalgia
Smash Bros. has transcended from being a gaming crossover. With a few exceptions from Playstation and Valve just to name a few, I'd say its more of a celebration of video games. At this point if a series has a playable fighter in Smash Bros., its almost like a gaming hall of fame award acknowledging the significance of a franchise and how iconic the playable fighter is to the gaming community.
The crossovers I liked are Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games series, Super Smash Bros. series, and Mario + Rabbids. I was skeptical about that crossover at first, but once I saw some videos of it, it started to get very funny. I can’t wait for the sequel to come out soon!

Wish the marvel vs capcom series has earned a spot it was one of the best crossover games ever made. It dominated the arcades.

Rabbids and Mario were actually legendary in of Nintendo. They have even announced a the brand new theme license crossover game.

The best Nintendo crossover is obviously super smash Bros because it’s a fun time to have with friends
in my opinion it's a good game and Grant Kirkhope proved that he could take a shot at Koji Kondo's masterpiece music and still make it sound phenomenal.
Smash Bros, starting with Melee, was me and my brother’s gateway into gaming and everything Nintendo and beyond. Truly our favorite gaming crossover, culminating with the three-year justifiable hype machine that is Ultimate.
The original Mario+Rabbids was one of my favorite Nintendo Switch games of all time, now I can’t wait for the sequel in October.
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle will always remain as my favorite Mario crossover, and since it’s my second favorite Mario game of all time, it’s definitely worth my honor. Definitely extremely excited for Sparks of Hope.

Awesome. I totally agree that Super Smash Bros is the best video game crossover. Also love Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. Haven't played the other games on this list, though I fancy Mario + Rabbids.
One of My Most Favorite Video Game Crossovers are Street Fighter x Tekken, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games franchises, Super Smash Bros. franchises, BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, Pokémon Conquest, Tokyo Mirage Sessions FE, Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney, Mario + Rabbids, Namco x Capcom, Project X Zone franchise, Marvel vs Capcom franchise and The King of Fighters franchise. These are My Most Favorite Video Game Crossovers franchise of All Time. I Absolutely Love them all! They're all just Wonderful, Spectacular, Amazing and Fantastic to play! 😄😁😊☺️

Street Fighter x Tekken is such a great game that you can mixed and matched teammates and transport from one stage to another. Plus, it has Cole MacGrath (inFamous series) as guest for the PlayStation content. Since Akuma did appear in Tekken 7, then question is when will these two worlds collide again.
There are rumors of tekken x street fighter in development it will use the tekken engine.
Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle Had no right to be as fun as it was. Like anyone else, I used to think the Rabbids were rather annoying, but now things are different. Really looking forward to Sparks of Hope when it comes out. 🐰
Funny thing about that game: When it was announced, a UA-camr who went by the name of "rabbidluigi" was somewhat shocked that "he" was now canon. Ubisoft even did him a solid by bringing him out to try the game before launch and even gave him a bunch of swag, including a Rabbid Luigi figurine.

Project cross zone series is VASTLY underrated.

Fact: Listening to the soundtrack of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle gives you a Banjo-Kazooie vibe. That’s because the music was composed by the legendary Grant Kirkhope.
I wanted Jade from Beyond Good & Evil in Super Smash Bros. She never got a chance.
I love a ton of the choices for this list. Aside from Smash Bros, I have had so much fun playing Pokemon: Conquest, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, and probably my favorite of this bunch, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE. TMS honestly might have my favorite Turn-Based RPG combat system of all time in the form of the Session Battles and the characters are pretty endearing.

Of course SSB has to be here but I’m glad King of Fighters gets to be in second place. SNK is rich with underappreciated franchises and characters. I have to say that Mario and Rabbids is a pleasant surprise. I remembered how people trashed it on the spot when a rumor about it was leaked and yet, it turned out to be an awesome game.
If Super Smash Brothers wasn't number one I was going to be furious just think about how much time and effort went into each game

@@SpikeTheWolf yes! That game is Namco X Capcom, it never got a western release tho. It's the game Reiji, Xiaomu, and Saya all debuted in. Also, THAT X IS PRONOUNCED CROSS DAGNABBIT.

John Wayne did an old movie called “The Cowboys”, and in that movie he fights the antagonist played by Bruce Dern. During that fight, there’s a part where John Wayne slams Dern against a tree. That was real and a substantial break was given to Dern’s ribs (if I’m recalling correctly). But they had to stop production for a few days while Dern got back on his feet.
If you haven’t seen the movie, I highly suggest it if you like Westerns. One of my all time favs.

All of these crossovers are pretty epic. I've yet to play many of them.
One thing's for certain. Although it is a fighting game, Super Smash Bros is the crossover series that will probably never be outdone. The original made a huge impression on the gaming landscape. People were over the moon knowing you can put Donkey Kong against Samus or Kirby against Fox in an epic all-out battle.
Melee upped the antics with even more characters, stages and ways to play with unlockable trophies that gave you a very detailed look at what characters (playable or not) came from which franchises.
Brawl and Wii U/3DS continued that trend by including even crazier characters like Snake, Sonic, Pac-Man, Bayonetta and Cloud among others. No one could've imagined the mindblowing insanity of bringing in unthinkable 3rd party characters to partake in such a crossover event. It was kind of at that point that almost anyone could be brought into Smash Bros.
Ultimate took that insanity and cranked it up to 11 and broke the nob off. I don't think I need to say any more on that. Lol.
Maybe with the crazy crossover success that Smash Bros is, we can see that same craziness in games like Mario Kart and Mario Party? Now that'd be even wilder.
I feel like a jackass making this correction but I must🤣 the X in most Japanese crossover games isn't an X but a "cross" representing the fact the game is a CROSSover hence Street Fighter CROSS Tekken
My thoughts exactly. It is SO STUPID when they get the “sharp” in #FE right but not “X” as in CROSS.
THIS!!! I've made this correction a lot. I mean they even say "Projekuttu Kurossu Zone" when you put the cartridge in the 3DS!

This might not actually happen but I wanna see a crossover between Mario crash bandicoot and sonic and in the game they fight each other I have always wanted to see Mario punch crash bandicoot in the face Nintendo please make that I always wanted to see crash bandicoot beat the hell out of a hedgehog another crossover is that I wanna see princess peach beat the living crap out of Amy from sonic because princess peach is the best video game women And nothing will convince me
Honorable mention - Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes does a fantastic job blending the strategy and character bonding of Fire Emblem while retaining the fast one versus many action of a warriors game.
Love Project X zone 1 & 2
Pokémon conquest is amazing, I remember buying it recently, and although I didn’t continue after the main story; loved it and look forward to playing it again

Okay. Watchmojo. Amazed you put Tokyo Mirage Sessions over Pokemon Conquest, kind of glad you did... But CALLING IT THE SMT CROSSOVER *IT WAS MEANT TO BE* will EASILY anger Shin Megami Tensei diehards. SMT and Persona, despite Persona being a spinoff of SMT, are HEAVILY preferential and argued by their fanbases over which is better.
Tokyo Mirage Sessions, while it was supposed to be and SMT × Fire Emblem crossover is more like PERSONA × Fire Emblem, and SMT fans are LIKELY to call you out on it if they haven't already.

I know it wouldn’t work for this list because of the rule that they have to be game characters first, but Cartoon Network: FusionFall was one of the most fun crossover games I’ve ever seen. It breaks my heart that there is no chance that I’ll ever get to play it again unless CN decides to revive it, but I don’t think that’ll ever happen.
Too bad they didn’t mentioned Jump Force, Marvel vs Capcom, or PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. I know they were not the best games to play, but they did belong to this category of game
I would love to see the project x zone games come to the switch in some way. I played both of them and loved them.
Smash Ultimate will only earn the moniker of ''comemoration of video games'' if it had featured at least ONE character owned by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
To this day it blows my mind that Street Fighter x Tekken didn’t move enough units to bring us Tekken x Street Fighter; it should have been a no-brainer. I really wanted that game and I’m not even a Tekken fan tbh!
When you see all the bs Capcom did too it (The gem system being a p2w mechanic, the PS3 version including 5 more characters, using bad box art Mega Man just months after cancelling MML3 and putting the franchise on ice, the on-disc DLC fiasco) its not surprising SFxT didnt sell enough. Especially when they were assuming it would sell the combined number of both franchises without realizing there would likely be a bit of overlap between the two.
Anyone we all new super smash bros will always be the biggest most popular crossover of all times.
The almost impossible ones are Smash Bros as a whole, and Kingdom Hearts because of Disney and it being random.
Imagine Tekken, Street Fighter, AND Mortal Combat.

Probably because Nomura himself said that Final Fantasy characters weren't necessary in the series anymore. Which is STUPID in my opinion.
