    Thank you so much Artur ! I was looking for some ways to improve mine (I also have the 1.8 nb BritishRacingGreen). I got the SW388 15" rims from Spoon and Yoko Advan A052. But I liked the A048 more, especially on wet conditions. I broke 2 wheel studs last time on track (Geoparc St-Dié France) on the right front one. These were 22 years old btw ! Are yours stock too or have you replaced them ? I managed to get a front set from US brand ARP supposed to be tougher.
    I noticed that you had to relocate the washing bottle too, as my stock one melt because of the Racing Beat manifold exhaust I put lol !
    I'm not pretty sure I got it regarding the inlet manifold, because that's a long time I think about getting the CAI. Does it fit with standard nb inlet manifold ?
    Great video !

      @arturturcu  Рік тому +1

      Hi. Yes, I got 22 years old studs as well, still going strong. The ILM CAI box will fit any stock throttle body and skunk2 as well. The inlet manifold is irrelevant. The point I was making was that to get the full benefit of larger TB you need to rework the manifold opening.

    Thanks for sharing, great build and driving video's. I am putting together a 99 BP4W for my 90 Miata. What size injectors are you running, harmonic balancer? and aftermarket ECU? Thanks

    • @arturturcu
      @arturturcu  Рік тому +4

      I am running on NBfl injectors which have slightly higher flow than NB but actually borderline for this power. I did install fluidampr after rebuild in 2021. After 6 years of duty the King Bearing main and rod bearings were toast. I am running MS2 pnp but recommend getting newer gen ECU like MSPRO or EMU.

    After watching your Ring videos it is very nice to see your build! How is the wear on your particular tyres? Do they last long on a trackday?
    I have a '99 10AE. This winter I will install a VVT engine, after the machine-shop completes work on the head. New valve springs (Volvo), valve seals and a head skim of 0,75 mm to keep the engine non-interference.

    • @arturturcu
      @arturturcu  Рік тому +1

      Cool stuff. The non-interference on BP VVT engines seems to be common myth though - busted by Car Passion some time ago.
      I was using 195/50 and 215/50 direzzas 03G in R3 compound and 205/50 H1 and the wear is surprisingly good for the grip the tyre provides. I was able to drive 600km on track with the 205/50 H1s till these were gone. With 215 R3s I think I could drive the whole season so like 1000 track km. With 195s R3s understandably less but still good wear rate. Highly recommend to give them a try.

    Thanks for the video! How do the abs work with the brake bias valve? I was thinking about this mod, but I didn't want to bypass the abs...
    99 1.8 from France !

    • @arturturcu
      @arturturcu  Рік тому +3

      ABS on NB is a separate module to the proportioning valve. By replacing the stock valve to an adjustable one and adjusting bias you are helping ABS to do less work. It is a must have with bigger calipers as usually after such upgrade the bias becomes skewed and braking gets worse! The less ABS interferes the more efficient the braking.

      It does make the tranny tunnel niticeably cooler (from cockipt) hence it might help with escaping the exhaust gases quicker and have some effect on performance as well.

      Because it traps moisture/condensation underneath the wrap and rots out your exhaust components.

      It can become a fire hazard if you have a leaky engine

      I was running crankcase breather filter straight from the exhaust side port just above the manifold. Bad idea! When I overfilled the catch from PCV side the oil started leaking from the breather filter straight on the mani wrap. I was lucky to not caught fire.

    Is the power steering unit in Europe different than the North American one? That power steering pump (I think that's what I'm looking at) certainly doesn't look like mine. Is it a stand alone, electric pump so you don't need to have any parasitic drag on the engine?

    • @arturturcu
      @arturturcu  15 днів тому

      It is an electro-hydraulic pump from Opel Astra/Zafira. Still drags power from alternator but should be less than oem pump which we all know can drag as much as 10HP! On the downside it assists too much and the steering feel is completely numb, worse than my g25 PC wheel ;) Looking now for alternatives with power controller.

    • @arturturcu
      @arturturcu  Рік тому +2

      @MrTAKIS1984, high compression N/A build requires additional cooling incl. oil cooler. Keep your oil under 120°C and it will be good. Cold air intake is recommended. You need aftermarket ECU to set the fuel and ignition advance maps. This setup would not be safe otherwise.

    • @arturturcu
      @arturturcu  11 місяців тому

      You are the first one asking this question. It is possible to travel about 450 km on one tank. It is the short final gear that eats the efficiency on the road since you are travelling at +1000rpm higher.

    • @mhh3
      @mhh3 11 місяців тому

      @@arturturcu haha well i ask because you have used higher compression ratio pistons but yeah i guess the gear ratio and all the other mods would make the fuel economy worse. 450km would mean 10l. my 1.6nb uses ~7l at 110-120kmh on the autobahn. the older gen mx5's are really not very efficient lol

    • @arturturcu

      Im using 205/50r15. I was using 215s last year and found it was not exciting enough. Prefer smaller tyre as the car is more responsive and agile. Running on 195s was a blast but grip levels were probably too low for the weight and power.
