This is Awesome!! I already have Audacity for converting my Dad's old LPs into digital and onto DC for him. I really love how Audacity works. I have been very frustrated in onboard mics whether webcam or camera. I look forward to seeing how Power Director works. Been using a different video editor, so I think I might compare to see if the same process works. Thanks again for the all the information!!

Thx for the video! We have a big project to do for drama class where we will be talking for 25-inch puppets placed in real settings (i.e. kitchen, in a living room, in the bathroom etc). We will be filming funny 2-minute scenarios using a Nikon D3400..not more than two puppets at once. Do we do the voices while we are filming or should we do the voices after (only when we will be editing)? If doing the voices while we are editing, what kind of microphone should i get? And it plugs right into my computer to record the audio only? I am new at this. Just trying to understand the whole thing. Thk you kindly.
I would do the voiceover separate using audacity.
Microphone wise it depends on budget, but a Blue Yeti is always good

Thank you! I have an olympus mirrorless camera and there's no mic jack. After searching online for hours this was literally the only feasible answer on how to work around that. I opted to use a zoom f1 lp for my type of work and skipped audacity but this is awesome info.

Great video, thanks! Quick question: After syncing the audio, are there any issues with editing? Lets say you want to through a visual affect in or a voice over, will it be treated as a cohesive movie or will the audio no longer sync up?
You should be fine, i would do the overlays and transitions etc first and then sync it up.
Do you know if the sync by audio option is also available on Premiere Pro in some way?

You can use OBS studio and select the camera as the view and the mic as the voice in. I have the mic plugged in through usb on pc. And the camera plugged in through HDMI on pc. No need to sync. Unless of course you don’t have a usb mic.
OBS is good but you then need a capture device, also if you record in 4K there’s a delay in voice / video so need to vhs he settings to sync it up.
Not to mention that recording video via OBS is taking away raw quality from the camera. So the video will look less clear.
@@EK1Gaming I've been using this method and my videos are so much blurrier than they should be! So I decided to stop doing it as it does look less clear! Nice to see someone else clear it up as I wasnt too sure why.
@@Faeriepastels you can get a better image quality but you need to change settings on your camera and also have a capture card too.

Attach a mic to laptop, the laptop mic will not sound great.

Hey, cool video! Do you necessarily have to use audacity or use any other type of audio recorder? As well as that, is there any objects you can get that fit into an existing camera port but on the end have a microphone input port?
You can use any recording software audacity is just a free one I use. I don’t know of any way to get a mic in your camera without a port

We are using Sony hdr sr1 model with Ahuja external powered microphone, our Sony camcorder has external and inbuild mic options ,so we are using external mic to record our lectures, it's wireless... But it brings air noice..kindly help me to record videos with clear sound quality.

if you are cutting footage and editing the video, will the audio still automatically sinc? This video was really helpful but if you have a ton of footage that needs editing down, would I edit that first and then import the audio? Also I use Premier Pro (I will google it) but does anyone know if it has an option to sync audio? Cheers :)
I sync the audio (WAV - not MP3) to the video and save it as a single video file. I then bring the video back to Shotcut, (free video editor) and do the final edits of the video after sync/save.
Was the blue yetti plugged into the pc or the camera because my camera obviously does not have a mic port?

I do not understand, I have a Sony A6000 I bought a Video Rode Mini microphone, no audio jack, so I just need a special cable or do I need to return this microphone and buy a zoom microphone?????
The A6000 doesn’t have a mic port bro.. you need to follow this method - return your mic

My PC or My phone
.wav files have a much higher quality because they are uncompressed and have all of your audio data at the highest details. This will mean a much larger file size, but it is worth it 100% of the time. mp3 would be used simply to share audio quickly between people for demo audio/example audio. Pretty much always use .wav and you will find much more clarity! UA-cam compresses your audio if you reach a specific threshold anyways. Also, a little too long of a video for me IMHO

I don't understand why we need Audacity? Is it simply to transfer the audio file from the recorder to the computer or does it serves another purpose?
Audacity is a great FREE recording program, meaning your mic connects straight to the program. I’m not using a recorder it’s a mic connected to the pc.

This is IN NO WAY explaining how to use a mic ON any camera with no input, this is how to dual record
Use external mic “WITH” any camera - not ON any camera.
I literally just realized he’s using a green screen
Yeah it’s not very good, I took a photo of my setup and then set it as a green screen. His is very old though
Just Use mini hdmi output jack audio at ur a6k dude 😅
That is also an option sometimes get lagged voice Comms though
Really want to dislike the video as its really basic most people should already know. Was looking forward to a tiny device that can stick on the camera it's self like a mini recorder. (But I won't dislike)
