  • After the "do I need an extractor for auto detailing" question comes the inevitable: "So, which one SHOULD I buy?" When this question gets asked on the forums, 90% of the people who chime in mention the Mytee Lite 8070 Heated Extractor. I wanted to give the machine an honest review -- and let you know if I think it's worth your money. I can tell you that there are some pros and cons -- and I'll be very honest with my opinions.

    Hey man, just ran into your channel today. I’m in high school and my friends and I started a boat detailing business a few years back and I’ve always had a passion for auto detailing. Love the great information and quality of your videos. Keep up the great work🤙🏻

      +Chris Robertson thanks Chris! It’s such a great way to make extra money. But the issue is not spending TOO MUCH money chasing the latest and greatest stuff or you will never make a profit. Hope some of this info can help you guys out (aka you can learn from some of my mistakes!). Being in high school it sounds like you are off to a great start!

      thanks dude! I mean I get why it's the "go to" in the industry. The continuous fill, the wheel lock, the 4-gallon basin...it's a nice little machine. Not perfect -- especially the handle design, or lack thereof -- when you compare it against something that is actually designed well. But definitely a solid machine.

    Nice informative video.
    I've been using a Mytee Lite II (the old green one, it looks a bit like the machine you compared the 8070 to) for about 10 years now mostly with a carpet wand for doing the carpet in my house, and occasionally the hand tool for tough stains and car detailing. It is not for business, just keeping the carpet clean in my home and detailing my cars. Bought it lightly used from a detailer for $400 back then, the machine is probably 15 years old by now and it still works great, have had no issues with it.
    I do take good care to drain it out after use, and find that running a little white vinegar through it now and then keeps it clean inside. My home also has a softener/filter system, which helps - hard water is tough on these machine I imagine. The heater is for friggin' real, it gets smoking hot, particularly with the hand tool, gloves are required or it will burn you. I like that kind of power, the heat can keep up with the carpet wand just fine. I do like that my older machine has the handle for easy carrying like the compared machine has.
    The best thing about having the extractor is have not had to buy beer in years. Everybody I know wants to borrow it, and I do some "charitable" carpet cleaning with it, refusing money and insisting on beer, because I like beer - LMAO.

    Hey man. Great video. Can you tell me in what order do you turn the buttons off. Like...I get the order to turn them on; Pump, then heat then vac. But is there a certain order to turn them off or doesn't it matter? Also Do you know how long can i have the heat and pump turned on before it becomes harmful to the machine? I would really appreciate it if you could get back to me. Been asking this question for a while and haven't found an answer yet and Im afraid to start using my machine before I know for sure.

    Thanks for the review on the extractor as I'm in the process of getting one myself. I wished you left he link to the other extractor or at least gave the name and brand so I can research it. Besides that great video. You also didn't show the suction power of the green machine either.

    • @HawkProDetailing
      @HawkProDetailing  4 роки тому +6

      with a good amount of time in between making this video and using the green extractor...here are my thoughts. It won't heat up cold water to hot, so make sure you put hot water in there first. It will maintain that very well. Suction power is fine -- but not overwhelming. This is called a spotter not a portable extractor (in carpet cleaning world). The Mytee 8070 is great because you can continuously fill it up and the heater function works pretty dang well... because you can cycle the water back into the basin from your wand....that's a nice trick to make sure the water is coming out hot and you don't lose any product. The Mytee is a superior machine, and priced accordingly. BUT. Which one do I take to mobile jobs? The small green one. It's super portable and easy to use--also easy to pull in one direction. If I need blasts of power or heat, I compliment the carpet work with my steamer, or perhaps more product or agitation. Or even dwell time for the product. It's all in how you use the tools. Check out interlink aramsco website and if you get one, just get the non-heated extractor and put hot water inside just before using:)

    A question, I know it's important to rinse after using high ph chemicals but is it important you use hot water? When I use a extractor I usually use my steamer then go in with the extractor. But always had a retail level extractor like rug doctor. I'm in the market for a new extractor but a hot water extractor is out of my budget. Right now I'm looking at one that is more on the professional level but is not heated. Your input is appreciated

    • @HawkProDetailing
      @HawkProDetailing  5 років тому +1

      +Cody D my understanding is that the heat is very beneficial for any of these chemicals - one, to help them clean. And 2, the powder like flex ice for instance just mixes so much better in hot water. Here is my hunch-you are “rinsing” the residue of the high ph when you extract. If it’s just water, I’m guessing it doesn’t clean and rinse that away *as well.* If you were to put a flex ice, for example, in regular temp water and rinse out/extract carpet that you had Pre sprayed with something high on the ph scale, I’m guessing it would do a decent enough job. One tip is pretty simple - use water from bath tub, as hot as you can get it, and put it in the rug doctor just before use. I’ll bet that does the trick!!

      Hawk Pro Detailing pumping hot water from clean water tank thru pump is hard on the pump and especially on the rubber seals and internals. You would be better off putting extremely hot water on carpet stain and then rinse with warm water with your extractor.

      +Daniel thanks Daniel! I think of things more in amps. So my new harbor freight can do 23 amps I think? But my old Honda was good for like 12 or 13 I think -Maybe14/15. Usually a machine will say how many amps it’s draws and you can figure out how that might affect your customer’s breakers lol

    • @Dshall88
      @Dshall88 5 років тому

      Hawk Pro Detailing one last question. I was reading the online manual of the mytee 1080 and above models and it says you Need to ground it. Do you ground it to your generator or how does that work?

    • @Dshall88
      @Dshall88 5 років тому

      Ok I got the answers Incase anyone else was wondering. The myteee 1080 and the mytee 120 calls for 20 running amps. So I definitely would only run the mytee by itself if you have 25 amps. Also as a reference for others I know most sites don’t include amps for there products so if you wanna find amps take the total watts and divide it by 120. Same if you only have the amps multiply by 120 to get total running watts. They’re on sale right now at detail king! Very good deals going on

      Say what? Not sure what u r asking. Mytee 8070 is probably the best all around extractor for most detailers. If you get a shop maybe you go bigger but if you go any cheaper than the 8070...you lose out on performance

    I have been detailing for over 20 years. I have honestly worked on over $50 million dollars worth of cars. I have a total slob with a massive case of ADD. My garage is a total mess and my tools are a nightmare. Keep up the good work. My only advice for you is to watch your back. At 48 I’m not far away from that old guy that barely walks upright. Oh and than sooner you can have other guys make your money the better your life will be.
