    Thanks for this view of pro-mod. I like these cars. partially because they have so many of the older car bodies used. Nothing like watching 57 chevs, 67 camaros, 63 corvettes, and all those good looking cars

    Thanks for this guys! This is brilliant to watch, as for those of us that can only dream about such high level motorsport, this really does give us an insite into what it takes to get one of these monsters ready.
    Great job and thanks :)

    These are the 'hidden heroes' of the sport, as the spectators usually just associate the driver with the car. There is a lot more going on than just the car making a run down the drag strip, so thanks for the look behind the scenes. It's interesting to note that the transmission isn't usually pulled after each run to service the clutch assembly by resurfacing the floater plates to ensure flatness, and also to check the wear on the clutch discs, all in an effort to maintain repeatability or consistency from one run to the next. Regardless, thanks for the video.

    • @RobinsonRaceCars
      @RobinsonRaceCars  9 років тому +1

      Chevy Fan Fast turn round on race day means that we don't routinely pull the transmission/clutch unless the check with the dial gauge shows a problem or the trace shows shows a problem. Typically we do full service on the clutch each day of qualifying, which for us is every two runs. We do carry a clutch grinder and use it as necessary.

    they tow it around by the blower? fuk if that doesn't say bad ass I don't know what to tell you ( it's probably a tow bar just in front of the engine it just looks cool I guess)

    • @ROBERRL2004
      @ROBERRL2004 8 років тому

      There is a plate sandwiched between the blower and the hat which is used to attach the restraint straps, it also has a hole to attach the tow rope.

    did they not have a right hand drive? or is it a drag racing rule? I'm baffled as to why an aussie or britt sounding team would want to race on the American side of the car.

    • @RobinsonRaceCars
      @RobinsonRaceCars  9 років тому +2

      +Atlas Mason. The main reason is that torque reaction at launch lifts the left of the car which makes the load on rear tyres uneven. Now we try to manage this with anti-roll bars but traditionally we use the weight of the driver to help reduce the torque effect. Of course the driver isn't just a weight !!!

    • @PlaterpussLOL
      @PlaterpussLOL 9 років тому +1

      Andy Robinson I feel silly for not thinking about that. Left hand side of the car better for drag racing got it. Thanks!

    • @slowpoke96Z28
      @slowpoke96Z28 7 років тому

      MortenBandit lol, not sure if youre just joking or not, but in case you're serious, ill reply. this isn't an American team or an American track. where ever they are cars are right hand, not left hand ( ie American) drive. for the reason Andy said though, they still build their pro mods with the steering in the left. I hadn't considered how unsettling that could be for the driver.

      2 speed vs 3 speed ..how does that work out for that car?

    • @slowpoke96Z28
      @slowpoke96Z28 7 років тому +1

      what do u mean? this car here is a 3 speed. for a lenco, count the actual planetary sections (the ones with shifter linkages or air pods on the top) and then add 1. that gives you how many gears that particular lenco transmission has.

    • @ROBERRL2004
      @ROBERRL2004 7 років тому +1

      We're limited to 3 speed by the regulations. We do sometimes play with gear ratios depending on track conditions. If you're not familiar with Lencos think of them as a series of two speed transmissions joined together, as slowpoke says we have two which gives us 3 combinations of ratios.
