I had a similar car, but pre-facelift and pretty much bare-bones trim. 1.4 litre 75HP BBY if I recall correctly. The acceleration for that kind of car was a little sluggish, but acceptable. But the biggest flaw of this motor was the rattle sound (like diesel) and it ate oil like the american cheeseburger. But I fondly remember this car anyway, as it's construction was quite simple and it's servicing was cheap.
I have this one but 2003 9n and yes it does sound like diesel. So its normal that it sounds like that apparently…🤣🤣
We have a polo aswell, and I consider it a hybrid with how much oil it uses lol. First German car, and I'm not sure if I'm happy with it so far. It has some nice things and a lot of bad things too. But after driving a modern Cupra, I definitely appreciate the polo a lot more. It has so many nice things that many modern cars just don't have.
Like a handbrake, proper steering wheel, a normal gear shifter, I can even use the handbrake whenever I want, and starting up the car is way easier compared to that car as well. To get to the climate controls I just turn a Nob instead of going through 5 million submenus on a stupid touch screen literally no one asked for.
That car was just a nightmare all around. Sure the polo somehow uses more than a inline 6 despite just being a 1.4L 4 cylinder, uses way to much oil, is Really expensive in maintenance, insurance and taxes. But at least it can do all things I just mentioned which many modern cars can not / it has many things that modern cars do not.

There is 2 option what make this sound:
-Piston Slap
-Hydraulic valve tappets
But in first one you have rebuild all engine
In second one remove camshaft
But you can drive with this sound without problems

Had the same car and it was really slow. The 1.2 fabia turbo felt faster

I have read somewhere that post-2005 Polos 1.4 engines make 80 hp instead of 75. Would you also think, by driving, that the car feels more powerful than 75 hp?

Ty for the video, i was curious at what speed u change from 4th gear to 5th, I personally do it wan I reache 100km/h. I wasn't sure if I won't brake the engine or something cuz it's my first car.
If you change the gears like this every day it wouldnt be good for the engine, but if you do it only once or twice it should be a problem for the car. This is also my first car and i never had a problem with the engine. This video is about accelleration and top speed, so you have to drive like this. In everyday life I somtimes change into the 5th gear at 60km/h.

Was verbraucht der Wagen so? Hattest du schon größere Reparaturen?
Also, ich hab halt keinen Boardcomputer, aber da in den Tank 38 Liter passen und ich mit einer Füllung ca 450 km schaffe, wäre das ein Durchschnittsverbrauch von ca 8,4L/100km. Hab aber auch nh relativ sportliche Fahrweise.
Und zu Reparaturen kann ich nur sagen, dass ich das Auto jetzt 2,5 Jahre hab und da sind jetzt beide Querlenker vorne kaputt und müssen gewechselt werden und die Bremsen müssen auch dieses Jahr neu gemacht werden. Sonst eigentlich nichts weiter.
@@autode2526 passen nicht 45l in den Tank? Komme auch nur 500km weit. Obwohl ich möglichst spritsparend fahre.....
Ps: klackert der Motor bei dir auch so , wenn er kalt ist?
Ja, stimmt, ich wusste es nicht genau und hatte sogar extra schon gegoogelt, aber anscheinend ein falschen Eintrag gefunden. 45 L sind richtig.
Und ja wenn ich ihn starte dann höre ich auch so ein leichtes kleckern, aber das geht eig immer nach ein paar Sekunden wieder weg 👌🏼

Bei mir klackert der Motor bis 90° Wassertemperatur erreicht sind. Aber wenn er Betriebswarm ist klackert er so gut wie garnicht mehr.
Finde den Verbrauch relativ hoch...
Im kalten Winter, kleckern der bei mir auch bis zu 90°C, ich denke mal das is normal.
Und ja, den Verbrauch finde ich auch wirklich sehr hoch, ich meine mit 45 L komme ich meistens so 450 bis 550 km, wobei 550 eher selten sind.
Und dann für so ein kleines leichtes Auto einen Verbrauch von um die 10L is doch ganz schön viel 🤷♂️

My bite point is rather high, I have a 2006 1.4 3dr manual polo, but the bite on my 1.2 polo same year was perfect!
Could this be the clutch or just different engine?

@autoDE kannst du den Wagen empfehlen? Ich habe genau das selbe modell gefunden erstzulassung 2006 mit neuer kette und ein jahr tüv, 113.000kmh für knapp über 3000 Euro. Meinst du der Wagen lohnt sich oder würdest du mir lieber den Toyota Yaris empfehlen? Gruss
Also wenn du keine Mängel findest, dann finde ich lohnt er sich schon. Meiner hat jetzt auch so 103000 runter und bis auf Verschleißteile und ein bisschen rost, was ja noch 15 Jahren normal ist, hat er eigentlich nichts gehabt. Allerdings finde ich den Preis vllt etwas zu hoch. Meiner hat vor 2 Jahren mit 72000km und neuem TÜV 4000€ gekostet und er wäre laut wirkaufendeinautode noch 2000€ wert.

Naja, es gibt ja fast von jeder Marke im prinzip Kleinwagen. Zb Opel Corsa, Mitsubishi Colt, peugeot 207, Renault Clio, Hyundai i10, skoda fabia, Ford Fiesta, Mini Cooper, Seat Ibiza uvm😅 und die gibt es auch im Bereich zwischen 2500 und 3500, hatte selber eben mal geschaut. Also musst du wissen, was die mehr gefällt, zur Verlässlichkeit kann ich dir zu denen allerdings nichts sagen.
Der Preis ist ok, habe letzten monat auch den 1.4 geholt baujahr 2007 mit 3500 euro. das auto ist besser wie die japaner wo die ersatzteile sehr teuer sind . der polo 4 ist zu empfehlen!
Denke der Preis ist in Ordnung .. hab gestern Erstzulassung 2008 Model 1.4 mit 128.000 km gekauft mit relativ neuem zahnriemen für 3750
und die frage, gibt es eine motorabdeckung vorn unter der haube , beim kauf bei mir war keine vorhanden.

15 minutes of car noise. Couldn't even see the speed it was driving. Would have been useful to have made some comments so viewers could actually learn something about this car.
You not reached the top speed. I have this polo also, 1.4 16v but with 101 hp, and i reached 195 km/h on 6000 rpm. You not reached the 6000 rpm, and is really annoing that you are always indexing, from one band to other. Your index it will broke :)))) If you make a top speed test, why you dont stay on the second band? and you wont decrease the speed with the band cheanging.
Thanks for you comment, but if your polo has more HP it is logical, that it reachs a higher top speed. It is not the same car because you have a different engine than this one. The top speed of this car officially is 172km/h and I reached 190km/h on the dash, because the highway goes down. The GPS speed is only 180km/h because of the GPS is more accurate than the dash. My feet was all of the time when it was possible comlpetly on the gas pedal so the is no possibility to reach a higher top speed with this car and this engine.
@@autode2526 Thank you for the answere, for me it was interesting, that you are on full throttle and you not reach the max rpm on the dash. Maybe the engine not have enough power in 5th gear to speed up the car to reach more rpm. Youa have to try if the car reach 6000 rpm, on 2 or 3th gear.
