Oh right on! Can only imagine how comfy that’d be in a full size truck haha. Definitely been enjoying more of a minimized approach to my setup lately, plus can’t beat the no setup/ pack down either 😉🙌
Haha appreciate you seeing it from that perspective AND to prove you’ve been around the channel that long, thank you! While some think the setup changes are due to “other reasons”, I truly just like switching things up and trying what’s all out there. Cause, why not? 😉 I like your idea of having a video showcasing them and my experiences. I’ll try and put something together in the not too distant future!
@@ConquestOverland I think it would be great as people can see what will fit them at that particular time. I have a mix of ground tent and sleeping platform right now. But will be moving to a camper next since our family got a little bigger. Gear shuffle is a real thing with in car camping so it's nice to see how others handle it.
Love that a company is making these, cost is gonna be very close to an entry level RTT (900+) but if you're not able to build your own platform this is sure slick.
For sure! As much as I’d love to make my own, I simply do not have the time, skill, or resources. For less than $1k, free shipping, and being custom built around your vehicle it’s almost a no brainer for those wanting to save weight compared to other alternatives. I definitely love having it and look forward to more trips now that there’s nothing to dry out when I get back home 😉🤘
I agree. It’s a tough call between roof top tent and sleeping in the vehicle with something like this. This would basically be miserable in hot temps. Think sleeping in your car in the Utah desert in Moab in late spring, or during one of those bad heat waves the PNW has had the past couple summers. Roof tent has so much more ventilation! But on the flip side, camping in the rain, cold, or intense winds you can get, you’re going to sleep so much better, and you can put a more aerodynamic roof box on your roof instead to haul extra gear. Inflation/cost of living is insane now. I bought my Tepui Ayer 2 tent in 2016 for 850 bucks, those are now all over a grand new, and a custom sleeping platform like this is almost a grand. Crazy.
@@MagnumoftheMountains for sure! There’s just numerous factors involved for the end user and ultimately you have to make the decision based on your needs. Weight, cost, overall use, people going, gear management, what time of year etc. RTTs certainly have their place but usually are heavy and come at the consumption of MPG and several thousand price range. Looking forward to camping in this for the summer, gotta love having a PHEV to run the AC while having little consumption of the battery… 😉🤘
Really good stuff! As a 22 JGC Trailhawk owner, I’m definitely going to try that modular sleep system. I’ve asked in a previous video (no response), but wondered if you might also be able to give the details about the bug screens for the rear passenger windows. I’ve got some generics that don’t fit perfectly and would prefer a clean look and full window coverage like the model you are using. Thanks.
Thanks for watching and the support! I’m currently just using a random brand found on Amazon for the window covers, nothing fancy. See below: XL/Car Windows Sun Shades for... www.amazon.com/dp/B07HYXZYMN?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
@@ConquestOverland Thanks so much! I'll check that out. Mine is generic as well, but I clearly did not order the right size as it's wide enough for the rear doors, but does not reach all the way down to the bottom of the window. Still functional enough, but mosquitos still get in through the gaps! The struggle is real!
@@WanderAsOne Ireland is a small country but with a big heart ❤️ and the landscape is just beautiful co, Kerry is one of my favourite parts of Ireland and I’m not living to far away from a place called kinsale that has a lot of history dating back to the Viking years and the cost line in kinsale is just so beautiful and my ancestors are from kinsale and recently i tried to move to kinsale but it fell through but if i were rich i would of bought a house there take care love your channel ❤️👍

Great video. I just spoke with CarToCamp two weeks ago and asked if they were going to Flagstaff Overland Expo in May, and they told me no. Has this changed now?
Interesting… They’ve always been in attendance before, may have to double check that. Thanks for the heads up! Appreciate you watching and for the support 😊
Nice setup! The new 4Runner is coming. 😊
Thanks! Saw the sneak peek, looks exciting!
Brilliant design, dig the new setup 👌🏻
Appreciate it, thank you! Been working out pretty darn well so far!
Nice! I went to a similar set up in my Tundra, I love just hopping in the back at night and pulling off in the morning.
