This is fantastic! Seeing the iconic footage with the great radio commentary gives it a whole new lease of life! We used to listen to the matches as kids on the radio. ♥️♥️
The fantastic Peter Jones I'll never forget his commentary on Sammy macilroy goal for Manchester united v arsenal to draw level at 2 -2 in the 1979 f a cup final only for arsenal to win 3 -2 alan Sunderland in the last minutr
Oh my word....I can't believe you made this video. I remember hearing these games on BBC radio sitting in the middle-east as a kid. I used to record them on my tape-recorder and hear it again and again. I just loved the radio commentary
Great idea Radio is the best way to enjoy football For example ya can be working away at gardening painting etc But with tv you have to sit in front of it Some goals you hear on radio stay in the memory as you could have been on the beach out walking Thanks Dave brilliantly done ✅
I used to have a BBC cassette tape called (I think) From Shankly to Dalglish, that had BBC radio commentaries from a number of big Liverpool games. I grew up listening mostly to local radio commentaries from Radio City (including Clive Tyldesley before he moved to ITV) and Radio Merseyside. But the BBC commentaries by Peter Jones and Bryon Butler were just fantastic and made me wish I'd listened to them more.
Used to listen to it laid in the bath, Alan Greene talked me through many a good Liverpool performance. Johnny Barnes and Peter Beardsley were just unbelievable backed up by Houghton with McMahon and Nicol and Hansen.. some side
Hi Dave, this is fantastic, thank you. Is there any chance you can make the full commentary of the 5-0 win over Nottingham Forest available? All the very best, Grant from New Zealand.
Hi Grant. Sorry I don't have a radio recording of the full 5-0 Forest game. The commentary on the goals on this video are from a tape with various highlights of Liverpool matches from the 80s.
The voice of the late great Peter Jones and Brian Butler together with the youthful voices of Mike Ingham and Alan Greene. Nostalgic
Need more off these my childhood listening to bbc radio 5 live
So lovely to hear Peter Jones's voice again.
Voice of my childhood and teenage years. ❤️⚽️
Never got over Hillsborough apparently and collapsed whilst commentating on the boat race.
And alan and mike and butler

Love this Dave. I used to listen to the games when I couldn’t go and I’d tape them also and listen to them back. Great memories.
