- A chief medical examiner and retired forensic pathologist shared her opinions on the death of 6-year-old Corey Micciolo. The chief medical examiner told Law&Crime's Michelle Yu that there is a "possibility" the child died from sepsis but said there would be evidence of it when he arrived at the hospital. Corey's father, Christopher Gregor, is accused of abusing his child to death after gaining shared custody.

She is qualified to review medical notes, recorded patient vital signs, blood tests and cultures, microscopic and macroscopic findings of the autopsy and even the short video of Corey speaking before his death. She is qualified to determine diagnosis of pneumonia and sepsis and the normal course of disease, findings indicative of disease and what would be contamination and not supported by the clinical picture of the patient.
@@sara_387even the last picture of Corey while he's still alive taken by his cruel father with his devilish smile. Corey doesn't looked distress in his sleep if we consider he's on the worst case of sepsis. He looked more like, he passed out after a huge blow. He even told dcpp via txt he's okay.
@@queenbandy3669 She was talking in general, not specific to Cory and what she said is true, my dad died in only a few hours but Cory's case is different, he never had pneumonia so not possible to have sepsis.

The doctor saying Corey had pneumonia should have his license removed he was paid to lie. He went to the doctor the day before and was not sick!

@@terryrife921 Well the defense have already put in their jury instructions that Corey died of natural causes - onset of pneumonia and sepsis, and stated that their expert witness will testify to that.
?? The hospital told the “mother” the child needed care the night before he died, and she REFUSED medical advice and took the boy to her house and kept him there for another 8 hours!

Because it's not pertinent to the cause of death. The forensic pathologist mentioned finding evidence during the autopsy of a wound on top of his head. It proves the first count of endangerment of a child.
Thing is: Corey didn't exhibit symptoms related to sepsis on arrival. If i listened to the last doctors testimony correctly (day 10) He didn't present any of the normal symptoms relating to sepsis. He killed that kid. NO doubt!!!

There is something wrong as it is. The family court system, Dcfs, and the monster Chris are to blame. The judge's prioritization of rush hour and the holiday is sickening. He seems to have forgotten the gravity of the situation - a child has tragically lost his life after being beaten. It is imperative that he refocuses, gets his court in order, and fulfills his duties as a judge. But instead, he is worried about the holiday weekend. Smh

You're absolutely correct. It's no way that child had sepsis. That tear in his liver and heart killed him. Dr. Andrew was excellent. The picture he painted of Corey's death sealed out for me. Baden is a hired gun who's been proven wrong multiple times.

It wasn’t his lungs it was his liver and you should look into what it takes for those injuries to be fatal.

Exactly! I had sepsis which was caused by a UTI. I had the UTI first that caused the Sepsis later.

Aside from bruises, he was as completely fine the day before, including _NOT_ having sepsis.
From someone who has survived sepsis, there is no way that is what he died of.

Dr Andrew was brilliantly articulate in explaining the damage done to Corey ultimately leading to his death.
Corey was in hospital less than 24 hours before death. No evidence of infection!!

The infectious disease doc explained it very clearly that Corey did not die from sepsis. When Breanna dropped him off for the last time to Christopher’s house it was then that he hit the child with such force lacerating his heart either by punching him to the chest or throwing a football (as he’s done before):with such force causing the internal injuries. This guy has got to be sentenced.
How is that possible without corresponding severe external injury. Even the heart outside looked ok until it was dissected. Would the father have used a sonic weapon? That sounds more like a post mortem injury to me for what it's worth

After seeing that treadmill video I just can't imagine what went on with this precious and innocent child behind closed doors.
The damage done to Corey from contusions and lacerations of the liver and heart led this child down the trajectory to death.

So, let's pretend he did die of sepsis. Corey would have been very sick with a high fever all day. He was in his father's care and he didn't bring Corey in until he was at death's doorstep. Did Chris call anyone to discuss his son's illness? Did he give his son any medication for his illness? Did he discuss his child being sick that day with any police officer or with the hospital staff when he brought Corey in? No, he immediately accused Breanna of having harmed the child, because he knew the child died from injuries, not from illness.
The defence is pushing that narrative but unfortunately for them the facts are the facts he died from blunt force trauma

The M.E. is a clown if he is still claiming sepsis was possible when the scans showing signs of it were done post-mortem ffs. It was already explained by someone with actual expertise and it's something that someone with any medical experience should have picked up on.
If he died from Sepis, he would have been sick and showed symptoms when his mother had dropped him off that morning to Christopher's apartments.

Yes, it was amazing! Especially when he admitted to changing his estimated TOD. Not based any pathological findings but based on a 33 second "video" in which you never actually see Corey and during which Corey weakly speaks only 8 words.
Is there any security footage of Corey going from his mother's car into his father's apartment? Did he need help walking?
Her opinion doesn’t matter because, like she said, she has not seen the evidence, lab work, etc

The very first thing I heard was that Corey died of sepsis which is blood poisoning and often at the end of life. I almost died from it but it’s from underlying conditions.
but in this case it wasn't present at all. The signs they claimed were sepsis were just from normal post-mortem activity in the body. The Medical Examiner is an absolute clown.
This pathologist gave us no information and was not very helpful in this interview.

The finding of bacteria in his lung biopsy 3 hours after his death is not of clinical significance. Contamination during intubation or simply postmortem changes is the likely cause.
People also die from being beaten to death over a period of time

The treadmill incident was on March 20. Corey died on April 2nd.

Well it is significant in that the defense are alleging a completely different cause and manner of death than the prosecution. The defense allege that Corey died of natural causes - onset of pneumonia and sepsis.
The pedeatrician clearly said there was no infection.
The doctor who oversaw the autopsy says "" there was tear in heart tissue, tear in liver tissue, "" how did that happen?

The defense have called a few witnesses already. The case has not followed the normal course because some witnesses have had scheduling conflicts.
Edit: the defense have not called their medical expert yet, if that's what you are saying.

Their “medical expert” had not testified - and that’s what has been holding up the trial.
The only thing in my head is that gym situation after he was done with the kid he walked out and left him there and the child have to run and follow behind him after the kid have been injured. You'll go to law school and spend how many years and money just to have a common sense?

As a nurse I had a 24 year old die of sepsis but it was fever and sick to sicker to delirious sick. And the fight was done with multiple antibiotics IV and they didn’t work…it was the most disheartening day…nothing worked and he finally died after 24 hours.
I’m sick of this defense attorney. He’s full of bologna. Ugh!
Why has the coroner who did Corey’s autopsy been ignored? What about his/her testimony? Why were they not called to testify? This case is so sad as many failed him. He was such a cute kid.
Dr Dante Ragasa failed to determine a manner of death, leaving it 'undetermined'.
His autopsy report was supposedly reviewed by his supervisor after Dr Andrew reviewed it, and the manner changed.
Initially he found the cause of death: Blunt force injuries with cardiac and liver contusions with acute inflammation and sepsis.
I have not seen whether that changed after this review.
Corey was hit with a fist in his stomach by this murder's (dad).
I believe chris pushed corey s stomach and he vomited at home. his heart s tear up. corey have bruises on his chest! i’m believe chris did it! he s guilty! He ran off to tenn to see his gf two days after corey s death!
Speaking as an RN in Emergency. The sepsis pathway is used to diagnose Sepsis and the emergency staff would have been able to determine sepsis within minutes of him being in the department. The treatment for sepsis is commenced immediately. He would not have been sent to CT/MRI (imaging) without being treated first for sepsis if they suspected sepsis. This is so frustrating because I’m not sure if the Jury will know that.
With a presenting temp of 96.8 and SATs of 88%, I'm sure it would have been a potential diagnosis they knew had to be addressed provided he survived. At 96.4 his body loses the ability to clot. Corey coded twice - which apparently is beyond this "reporter" (or whoever wrote her script) comprehension.
They could easily have hung the antibiotic and tried to take him for a CT before it finished. I think the infectious disease pediatrician testified the cultures didn't grow anything out. I don't recall hearing testimony regarding which drugs he received. This isn't a case of the ER didn't act swiftly enough. Corey was admitted at 3:53p.m. and was pronounced at 5:03p.m.
What's frustrating for me is people aren't aware Corey had a lateral, internal, left ventricle laceration, a mid axillary contused lung, a lacerated liver and retroperitoneal bleeding with blood pooling in the pelvis. Eff this "It was sepsis" bs.
This type of fake title won't help little Corey to get justice as he deserves! The doctors that did the examination were very clear, the boy didn't die from sepsis or any infection! 😡
Remember how they said that a postmortem CT scan of the lungs must include the lungs being inflated with positive pressure to show the lungs as they would be normally. If you do a postmortem CT scan on lungs that aren’t inflated you’re not seeing the full picture because normally on CT scans the lungs are filled with air.
Well they did blood work on poor baby a day before, and the same day his dad brought him to hospital . None of them showed any infection. 3 or 4 doctors did not miss a severe infection that caused death

Chris trying to look sad is pathetic. He creeps me out and if allowed to get away with this due to corruption.....this sends a terrible message to the world. I pray the jury gets it right even though the judge is manipulating what they hear or don't.
