+Sakura Spring Aww thanks so much for watching this video. We love sharing these travel adventures with you guys. I know they aren't our most popular videos, but I feel that they are rather special. So it means a lot to us. Thanks!
OMG that looks really amazing. It is so cool how japanese farmers go through a lot of effort to grow fruit. The grapes we get in the UK are imported from South America and does not have the same quality. I recently tried mango grapes from Spain and they tastes like candy floss. I highly recommend it as it is really sweet and juicy unlike the normal grapes which are sour and furry.
+TheOnlyKevster Ohhh I definitely would love to try those mango grapes from Spain. Normal grapes are sour over there? Hmmm....never had sour grapes before. Curious. :D
Oh wow! All those grapes look absolutely delicious! I've never seen actual grapes growing in the wild before. I'd love to try those wines and juices too!
+TabiEats It's now definitely one of my "must go places" list! I shall visit that place if I ever get to go during grape season. How long does grape season last?
TheGazeLove actually I just found out the season is much longer than I thought. Here's a link to some useful information. www.yamanashi-kankou.jp/umaiinet/facility/grape/index.html
I loved this video, as the different variety of grapes looked so appealing, but the information that the owner provided was fascinating. (I am a huge nerd on any type of trivia and knowledge). I look forward to more content like this, as well as the others.
wow I love these videos I love seeing Japan I learn so much. I've been strawberry and raspberry picking but not grape. I have squashed grapes with my feet in massive barrel to make wine, that was so much fun. great video guys
+edusp Thanks for joining us! We actually imagine that's what we're doing when we film and hope that people would feel like they are on the journey with us. Cheers!
oh really? That seems quite strange, I would have thought they would be one of the most popular haha. Anyway I hope you don't stop sharing them then :-)
love this. so peaceful and delicious, as strange as that sounds. I really admire you guys for creating this collection of videos that down the road would be so much fun to re-watch just for yourselves to remember the interesting places and people that you've met. I like the kindly and patient grape farmer and the way he made you guys feel really good. also the cheerful lady who explained the wine making process and tastings. nice contrast in personalities. they seem so familiar to me, like people I've met before.
+belovedpeartree I know exactly what you mean. After almost a year doing this on youtube, it's starting to dawn on us that we're creating memories on video for ourselves as well. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Cheers!
We have a lot of wine vineyards where I live, and also some newer olive groves, where they grow olives for making olive oil! Thanks for the video - those grapes are gorgeous!
Yes, in Cali you can drive not too far and visit vineyards. They are all over. Also some of my friends with a backyard have grapes vines growing. The environment in Cali is very easy for growing grapes it seems.
I live in the south of the United States. I’ve never seen grape farms because they usually don’t grow well here but however we have a local wine made here locally from Arkansas grapes but it’s very rare. It’s a very good wine and I love that It’s local! Usually though we have livestock such as cows, pigs, and lambs. We have horses as well but I’m not sure if it’s allowed to sell them as produce here. The most commonly seen farm in the Arkansas/Texarkana area is rice farms. It’s super cheap here which I don’t complain about because I love having rice as my starch!
Such a nice View..We have also lots of Vineyards here in Germany thats why we have multiple of assorted Wines and Sparkling Wines from many different Region ..Now i want Grapes too..Nice Video..thumbs up.!!
+Ruthy Quiban Thanks so much for watching. We really appreciate it especially when our travel videos get watched. They aren't too popular. LOL. Did you know that I first started drinking wine on my visit to Frankfurt? It was my first European destination!
Really??I think its so fun to watch your traveling Vidz , coz i learn some things about the Country and the People which i think is very interesting.. I believe you..we have lods of Wines starting from Red to white to Rose etc..You really will start drinking coz you want them to try dem all Lol :-D...
Wow, so amazing, so many varieties of grapes! Living in California, I have seen a LOT of growing things. When I was little, we had apricots, bananas, figs, strawberries, and a small vegetable garden as well. There are many "pick-your-own" placed quite near where I live now, and it is fun to go in the spring to get cherries, and later to get stone fruits. But even in the store, fruit is not so expensive as in Japan. Granted, it isn't wrapped up like a new born baby, and one usually has to select their own fruit or vegetables from a pile, but cherries for $2.99 a pound or grapes for the same is worth it. I tried the cotton candy variety this year, it is TOO sweet! And lately there have been the "witches' fingers" type, which are long and slim. I only get green seedless grapes, I'm allergic to grapes with seeds as well as most wines! Growing up we did NOT get grapes, I suppose my mother was supporting Cesar Chavez and the people who pick the grapes, they got paid pennies a day, and had to pick a lot of grapes to stay employed, and were treated so poorly. It was a tough time. Not as tough as in the 19th century though. European grape growers started finding that their vines were getting a blight. It was found to be an aphid (called phylloxera, which actually came from the US when they tried to grow French vines here). The "cure" was to graft European vines to American roots that were resistant to the aphids. So when you hear people talk all snooty about how inferior American wine is, you can let them know there would be NO French wine without American grapevines!
+bcgrote ahhh I would be in heaven if I were able to pick all those fruits you mentioned. And thank you for the bit of wine history. Very interesting indeed!!!
I love your travel videos so much! I really want to visit Japan someday and this makes me feel like I"m living vicariously through you guys, hehe! Those grapes looked incredible, usually in the supermarket my only choice is "red" or "green", sometimes on rare occasion you see black. Both the grape harvester and the wine maker seemed so friendly and knowledgeable. This makes me want to go visit a vineyard so bad!
+Preeya Sharma It's so good to hear that you like our travel videos as they aren't as popular as our cooking ones. We love showing you guys around Japan and the world. Thanks so much for watching!
Shinichi and Satoshi! My girlfriend and I are waiting for the plane to fly to Tokyo right now and we just want to thank you for all of your great vidoes! They have given us so many great ideas for our trip and we greatly appreciate you two for showing off all the great things to do in Tokyo! You guys are just great and so fun to watch! If we find the jelly turtle gatcha we will definitely let you know! arigatou gozaimasu
+jsero00 wow that is so exciting!!!! And what a great time to visit! The weather is perfect (except for the rain) not too hot, not too cold. It's the peak season for many fruits such as grapes, persimmons and pears. If you like fruits, please get some at the supermarket or department store B1 level. Have fun and if you need any help let us know!
+TabiEats thank you so the tips! we were worried about the rain, how bad is it! though I am excited to get a clear umbrella over there if we need it. I don't know why but I love how they look! we definitely shallYou try out the fruit. do they sell the grapes from the orchard you went to at the super market? Those just look so delicious! Thank you again for the help!
+jsero00 Yes you can find the Shine Muscat at the food floor of Isetan or Takashimaya in Shinjuku. Definitely check out the food floor in Isetan Shinjuku ok. You guys will love it. If you love pastries, please try Sadaharu Aoki in Isetan. Their cake called Bamboo is amazing! The place is grouped into sections...Japanese food, Japanese sweets, Japanese high class sweets, Western desserts, deli, bread area, etc. Have fun guys!
+TabiEats Konnichiwa again! I don't know if you are still looking for the jelly turtle gacha but we did find one yesterday in akihabara. it was in front of the akiba idol shop just down the main road that crosses the river and just outside of the main section of akihabara ith all the lit up buildings. it is on the left side of the road as you are walking away from the river!
What an absolutely beautiful video to watch! I seen so many beautiful grapes that I want to draw. I have been working on a surprise from on of your videos for you. I'm about half finished. :) I loved this video though, really nice!
Although I don't drink any alcohol at all, I really love visiting vineyards. The atmosphere there is so refreshing/relaxing, just amazing. Thank you for taking us with you and sharing your experience. Much appreciated !(^^)!
+val1n thanks so much for coming along on this journey with us. Everytime we create these travel videos, we have you guys in mind and pretend that we're taking you guys with us! That makes it all the more fun! Once again thanks!
Wow, fruit seems really expensive there! Here in Rome you can easily buy 10 of those bunches with 15€ (2000 yen) in a common market. I think the difference is that you grow fruit in a very unique and careful way. I never have seen grapes with a 'hat' before! :D
+Isos Wow I am so jealous! I wish we could buy 10 bunches for 2000 yen. Usually at the supermarket, one bunch of grapes is around 500-2000 yen. In department stores, they can run up to 10,000 yen per bunch!
Goodness, that white is as clear as vodka! Squeezed instead of stomped, hooray! I wonder what they do with the grape skins and stuff? Pig feed maybe? Oh, the walking! Not only keep you skinny, but you can walk off some of the drunk! LOL! It still looked like a fun, interesting and delicious day!
のぶたかI was so tired because I was drunk! Also we just came back from Osaka the day before so was a bit low on energy. Plus we didn't eat anything until that wine! haha! But it was so nice and relaxing.
Like Satoshi I grew up in the country, so I am a bit immune to the wonder of where food comes from :S We currently have a grape vine in our backyard, it produces some nice grapes, but the best part in my opinion is the leaves! They're fantastic for making Dolmades, which are a favourite summer dish from Greece. I love, love LOVE muscat grapes. Japan has so many muscat flavoured candies and sodas - I was in heaven last time I visited :)
Thanks for sharing this video. 😄 Didn't get to go ourselves when we lived in Tokyo.. Now I definitely regret not going! Was this in September? Do you know when they harvest? Kanpai 🍷👍
LOVE all your vid's ! Wish i could taste those grapes. You guys are so lucky :) Our grapes here are usually sour :/ By the way what camera do you use to record this video? The video is so crisp and sharp ! Can i send some snacks from my country for you to try??
+Cheryl Yi Yes you can buy yamanashi grapes and wine in any food emporium on the basement floors of major department stores like Isetan, Takashimaya and Mitsukoshi. The Isetan in Shinjuku is a personal favorite.
Vineyards are always beautiful, no matter the country. I never knew Japan has a wine culture, though. Why the whispering? Looks like you're stealing grapes XD In my region there are a lot of muscat vineyards, which the use to make the insaaaanely sweet moscatel wine (among others).
+Carlos Vives I totally agree with you about vineyards being beautiful .Yes Japan has a small but growing wine culture, that's actually improving as the years go by. About my wispering, i absolutely have no idea why. Maybe because it was so quiet and the owner of the grape farm spoke so softly, I didn't want to be rude or something. I would LOVE to try that sweet moscatel wine. Sounds amazing!
+Carlos Vives I agree with this. Seems silly since I drink Geikekan and Choya Plum Wines (not an actual wine!), Saki and Sochu. I will now have to search Manhattan for Japanese wines.
I've never seen a normal grape tree. We do have grapes in Dominican Republic, but the cities with the larger farms are far from the north (I live in the north). The only grape's tree that I've seen are "uvas de playa" (grapes from the beach), These grapes are not real grapes :P I'll leave a link below if someone wants to know more about it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coccoloba_uvifera
I hope this is my first lesson to visit Japan. Could you write the name of the grape park you visited? Is it possible to speak English to the owner of the grape park? Is the price the same for those grape varieties? How much for 1 kg?
+eddharj the grape picking place we went to is called Meiseien. They do not have a website unfortunately. The winery was called Hishiyama Chuo Jyozo and they have a japanese website. Here's some info: Meiseien 1729-5 Katsunuma machi Katsunuma, Koshu city, Yamanashi Tel: 0553-44-1240 www.koshu-kankou.jp/map/budo/meiseien.html Hishiyama Chuo Jyozo 1425 katsunuma machi Hishiyama, Koshu city, Yamanashi Tel . 0553-44-0356 budoubatake.net/wine.html Unfortunately no English is spoken but perhaps there might be somebody. we don't actually remember how much it was per kilo, but it was way cheaper than than supermarkets. Hope this helps.
+TabiEats Thank you so much for the very informative answer, and the website. So Meiseien is the same with Kubota farm. I will plan to visit there in the next grape season.
Time flies. Yes I have decided to visit Meiseien or Kubota farm in Oct 15. I have found the location of these two farms. I will take the first limited express train from Shinjuku St. But I will visit Kofu Castle first and then to Katsunumabudokyo. Thanks for sharing this video and the information.
Nice video you have here, We're doing a promotional video for Yamanashi prefecture and would like to ask your permission to use a 2 second clip from this video for it. it's the video at 03:03 - 03:15. Hoping for a favorable response. Thanks
Delaware grapes were very inexpensive in Japan when I was a child(40-50 years ago, sorry) but when I got back in Japan last summer they were so pricey. And Kyohou. such adelicacy. Budou Gari is fun. In the US where I live for the last hearly 40 years. there are only brown and green seedless grapes. Boring!!! They are all right but don't have any grape flavor.
+miyubail Yes grapes have become very expensive here. Kyoho isn't so bad but Delaware wow! I agree with you about grapes in America. They are good but one can get bored with the two varieties. I've had some amazing grapes in France as well in the past.
As an American, I was amazed at the look of those grapes! You're right, our grapes are boring in comparison. My husband's best friend just moved back to his hometown (Yamanashi) from being in the U.S. for years. I can't wait to visit! Now we're planning to go during grape season. Thanks, TabiEats, for helping us to start our trip planning.
Angela Rogers If you visit Yamanashi, make sure you go to a noodle restaurant and order HOUTOU UDON. Yamanashi is also famous for their giant and juicy Asian pears.
i like how you commented on how kind the guy from the grape farm was. it's so important for an experience
+VRRV thanks! we agree with you. There were so many grape farms but we think we chose from the right one!
All those grapes looked wonderful.
+SilverAuk Thanks! They were!
Those grapes look perfect.
+bugs294 They were amazing!
+Sakura Spring Aww thanks so much for watching this video. We love sharing these travel adventures with you guys. I know they aren't our most popular videos, but I feel that they are rather special. So it means a lot to us. Thanks!
+TabiEats I love watching the " travel adventures" video's!! I get to see Japan and the surrounding area's.
甘口の白ワインとスパークリングワインが大好きなので羨ましかったです😭山梨行ってみたいな。
+toi love ここのワイナリーのワインとスパークリングは本当に最高でしたね。山梨はまた行ってみたい場所でした!
Oh I just love vineyards!!! They're so beautiful.
+Nicole Romero They really are aren't they? It was great to get away from the city.
+TabiEats when we lived in North Carolina, there were many many vineyards around us. We loved going to the Biltmore Estate for that reason
Nicole Romero that sounds amazing and incredibly relaxing! ahhhh
+TabiEats it is both and I miss it. We live 24 hours away from it now
OMG that looks really amazing.
Curious. :D
Most of the grapes from the big supermarkets are mass produced and imported from south america to cut costs. They do not taste nice at all.
Oh wow! All those grapes look absolutely delicious! I've never seen actual grapes growing in the wild before. I'd love to try those wines and juices too!
+TheGazeLove this was definitely a wonderful experience and grapes were beyond amazing! Thanks so much for coming along!
+TabiEats It's now definitely one of my "must go places" list! I shall visit that place if I ever get to go during grape season. How long does grape season last?
TheGazeLove grape season lasts about 3-4 weeks I believe.
+TabiEats Is it around September?
TheGazeLove actually I just found out the season is much longer than I thought. Here's a link to some useful information. www.yamanashi-kankou.jp/umaiinet/facility/grape/index.html
i'm eating my grapes while i watch this!
+Dreamy Elf perfect combination! :D
+Gregory Barber Thanks so much for watching! We also love strawberry picking but never had done raspberry before.
amazing video guys! great tour! it feels like you're taking us together

+Cheryl K (CherylsHomeCooking) They are huge and so plump and juicy. the plastic is to protect them from rain.
Really!!! WOW I would of thought that the rain would help with the growth of the grapes....Excellent video though..Thanks for sharing~
Beautiful!!
+Rickkye Gan thanks!
This was a great video --- love to see another video of this :) :) thank you :) :)

Love this video! Is this place open for tourists?
You can hear how juicy these grapes are!
Did you guys have fun drinking??
We sure did! So much fun!
TabiEats
Who got drunk first?
Me! (Shinichi)
LOL! the way you said "Me!!!" there's no regrets in that tone.....I love it!
I'm originally from California so yes I've seen grapes before outside the store
+Lucas Musser California wines. LOVE THEM!
Thanks for sharing this video. 😄 Didn't get to go ourselves when we lived in Tokyo.. Now I definitely regret not going! Was this in September? Do you know when they harvest? Kanpai 🍷👍
Yes this was in the middle of September I believe as it was still quite hot.
TabiEats Ah, it looked really warm. Thanks for replying 😊🍷
LOVE all your vid's ! Wish i could taste those grapes. You guys are so lucky :)
Our grapes here are usually sour :/
By the way what camera do you use to record this video? The video is so crisp and sharp !
Can i send some snacks from my country for you to try??
Hi there. We use a Sony RX100 Mark 4. Please send me a message at fabaquarius-66@ezweb.ne.jp
Thanks!
Which ones were the best? Muscat is my favourite, mmmm.
Hello, it is a great video.
My husband and I are going to Japan in the middle of June. I wonder if muscat grapes are in season in June and July?
You have to have a low stance GANIMATA gate. I know the grape vine height is a killer.
+miyubail haha exactly!
can you buy yamanashi grape juice/wine in tokyo? If so, where?
+Cheryl Yi Yes you can buy yamanashi grapes and wine in any food emporium on the basement floors of major department stores like Isetan, Takashimaya and Mitsukoshi. The Isetan in Shinjuku is a personal favorite.
いつも楽しみに拝見させていただいております(^^)
のどかですね〜♪素敵です(^.^)
+Shiho Okubo
Vineyards are always beautiful, no matter the country. I never knew Japan has a wine culture, though. Why the whispering? Looks like you're stealing grapes XD
In my region there are a lot of muscat vineyards, which the use to make the insaaaanely sweet moscatel wine (among others).
+Carlos Vives
I agree with this. Seems silly since I drink Geikekan and Choya Plum Wines (not an actual wine!), Saki and Sochu. I will now have to search Manhattan for Japanese wines.
Is there any entrance fees for the Grape Picking?
This place is free and you just pay for what you want to buy.
I've never seen a normal grape tree. We do have grapes in Dominican Republic, but the cities with the larger farms are far from the north (I live in the north). The only grape's tree that I've seen are "uvas de playa" (grapes from the beach), These grapes are not real grapes :P I'll leave a link below if someone wants to know more about it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coccoloba_uvifera
i never see grape pink color
+Daniel Law Ohh there are so many varieties here!
تحياتي للامة اليابانية انا من شمال افريقيا ، احب ان احصل على شجرة من هذا العنب ؟ هل يمكن بيع شجرة لهذا النوع ؟ تحياتي وشكرا
Here's some info:
Meiseien
1729-5 Katsunuma machi Katsunuma, Koshu city, Yamanashi
Tel: 0553-44-1240
www.koshu-kankou.jp/map/budo/meiseien.html
Hishiyama Chuo Jyozo
1425 katsunuma machi Hishiyama, Koshu city, Yamanashi
Tel . 0553-44-0356
budoubatake.net/wine.html
Unfortunately no English is spoken but perhaps there might be somebody. we don't actually remember how much it was per kilo, but it was way cheaper than than supermarkets.
Oishy desu tanoshi katta ,forgettable to my love life to yamanashi ken ,I fall in love to some one Tokyo boy.
Nice video you have here, We're doing a promotional video for Yamanashi prefecture and would like to ask your permission to use a 2 second clip from this video for it. it's the video at 03:03 - 03:15. Hoping for a favorable response. Thanks
Yes you can. We would appreciate it if you could credit our video. Thanks.
Angela Rogers I know you'll have a great time in Yamanashi. Please let us know if we can help in any way.
Angela Rogers If you visit Yamanashi, make sure you go to a noodle restaurant and order HOUTOU UDON. Yamanashi is also famous for their giant and juicy Asian pears.
+TabiEats Will do! Thanks.
the grape yard looked so beautiful! & the drunk part was my favorite haha 😆 definitely got the "asian glow" like me when i drink, bright red~
+Kimberly Yến Nhi haha! Satoshi is pretty strong but I cannot drink at all!!! LOL. But I LOVE wine so I still drink with all my Asian Glow!
