i came forma different school entirely, but i respect these cats tremendously! rashid is a classy sound, spanky is very creative! i am glad i found these videos! i worked at guitar center north houston, there were several gospel drummers that would come shed, it was very educational. i had never seen a real gospel drummers chops before! amazing!!!
No one took anyone's gig... We are a family out here. Me and Spank have both done Jill's gig at separate times and continue to do so. He KILLS the gig!!!! The main thing is that we all work and cover for each other when needed... It's all Love!!!
I know this comment is from seven years ago, but you are seeing the full truth because some people out here look at it only one way or should I say from one standpoint. Thank you for giving us a better way of looking at life.
This is really fun to watch - I like the comradery/conversation/ call and response aspect to it - the point is not that one out does the other - it's like one inspires the other. THey're both listening to each other and responding. That's the best environment for creativity. Who is who - Spanky is the one with black jeans right? Hard to make out their faces until the end, but I can see what they're doing on the drums. FUN!!!
Dude, 2:07 was crazy sick! In a drum shed your drum ideas get to be the same after while, when someone brings something from outside like that its inspiring because it makes you come up with your own craziness.

rashid played better by far in my opinion. I don't know if it's a generational thing, but it was night and day to me. Two different styles, mine's w/ rashid's by a long shot

Now Tony isa beast, but i can understand him. u get me? id put tony, arron, and dana together.

But ive seen sheds where there were like 3-5 dudes playin wit Spank, this is JUST THEM. Sheed did his thing, but its HARD to follow 2:07-2:26, i mean, i almost had it til i tried to incorporate the hi-hat and crash like he did, LOL! Much respect to both of yall.

@BAMACUSTOM23 I have to respectfully disagree. I feel its way easier to make out what Rashid Is doing. I have no idea what to go home and practice on Spankys licks. Spanky is way more creative. For a whole fill he used just Hi Hat and snare and it was crazy. Rashid was around the kit every fill. If i could, i would be trying to play like Spanky way before Rashid. The creativity and his original sound and his "Deep Grooves" are just outstanding.
