    W(o)W! Thaddeus truly uses his bass like a microphone to his soul- AMAZING. As a bassist, i have to force myself to listen to him as a fan, so that I don't covet his gift, and so that i don't despise my own gift. What an inspiration.

    I look at it this way... CLEARLY Thad was having fun right here. But at the same time, we ALL know what he is really capable of. He doesn't play like this ALL the time. Just in this video, he was having some fun. We've all heard him play for Tye on all their records, heard him play for Jill... And we know he IS a disciplined bassist. You never know what was going through his mind when he played that day. But at the end of the day, we ALL know that he doesn't play like this all the time.

    One of the many things I like about his playing is his CHOICES of notes he plays during certain chords in addition to how many notes he can play at any given time. And then, of course, there's the fact that he gets excited about the sound and direction a chord progression takes on from choosing a different note than the expected one. It lets me know that he's thinking about more than impressing people with impressive licks, riffs and runs.

    • @jasonreid923
      @jasonreid923 9 років тому +4

      ssabnami That is pretty much what I just said. I admire the fact that he pays attention to the musical aspects of his instrument and what it/he can do AS WELL AS being able to provide his audience with impressive licks, riffs and runs.

Thad wouldn't DARE do this with Kirk or Lagy GG or Jill Scott. He knows his artist, his setting, and his audience expectation is all I'm saying. To everyone saying that thad's doing too much on the bass....please stop. Why would God put him on the earth with such a gift to be criticized by others? It's not fair to him, God, or anybody who actually enjoyed the video. It's okay to have an opinion, but you're flooding the comments section with things that I'm a hundred percent sure the uploader didn't intend to be here. Would you say that about a keyboard player, or a guitar solo, that they're taking you out the spirit? Show this guy some love and thank God for his gift.
    Now, that being said, Thad, Spanky, and Brandon would KILL... lol.

If you look at Thaddeus play for other people he has a SOLID pocket but this just so happens to be what Tye Tribbett likes and a REAL musician will give the artist what they want, they will in a sense become a chameleon aka adapt to the expectation. Don't get me wrong I don't like too much playing either but I'd it's required/requested then hey take your marching orders and perform them to the artists HIGHEST expectation

      There's a differnce between playing in the spirit and playing in the flesh...(He is playing in the flesh).I've been playing in church, playing the drums since I was 3 years old(im now 17 about to be 18 years old,Ive been playing drums 15 to 16 years now)I now play the piano,the guitar (electric and acoustic) I basically have the prospective of all parts of the band except bass,Which I will learn Eventually ...Now with all that being said(I as a worshiper and musican- would not want to play drums, play piano, or even sing behind a guy like this.Because he is not playing with the band, he's soloing as if he's playing by his self. It's not just him either ...the whole band needs to evaulte what they are doing up there and what their motives are.
      He's distracting people that want to worship and focus on God.What he is doing is drawing attention to himself(wether on purpose or unintentional)And that should not happen at all.He needs to sit down and evaluate why he's even playing.because right now he's not Glorifying God.....He's glorifying himself!!! it's not Just him either,The whole band needs to sit down and evaulte why they are up there..Because clearly they are all solo artists and not in a band .

      This is the reason why I stick to CCM(Contemparay Christian Music) no one in CCM is trying to show off and they all play to blend in with the rest of the band.that's why one of the reasons why I love it so much.

    • @SynSynVelli
      @SynSynVelli 5 років тому +5

      Kameron Jackson how do you know he is distracting people? At a concert? Yes God gets the glory but its a show...the important thing to know it’s not just a show....thing is people in the musician section are in the musician section because they are are musicians and lets be real alot of musicians tend to hang around to be apart of what goes on in our section for show...but from seeing thad in action on many occasions the brother is gifted and anointed and knows the move of the spirit him and his the are in sync....so please before you try to be so deep...no matter what is going on...because in have seen horrible people throw a song off but at the end of the day when you come to praise and worship when your heart and mind is set on Jesus you are gonna do what you came to do and receive what you came to get no matter if the music stop...which is why after even when they bump theres always that person shouting before the bump even starts...and theres always someone still emerged deep in the spirit still going the spirit after all the bumping and singing is going on...so with all do respect....kill the noise

  • @some1islooking

    in spirit or not, overplaying is overplaying. look at sharay reed. he gets in the spirit and still blends with everyone.

    • @akete_aka_te
      @akete_aka_te 8 років тому +7

      You gotta remember that his "overplaying" is still his way of blending with everyone. There's a reason he is up there. Just because you like sharay's taste better doesn't mean Thad is overplaying. He's puttin his all in and fucking killing it!

    • @some1islooking
      @some1islooking 8 років тому +3

      +Akete Knight I was just using sharay as an example. he can still blend and throw in some killer fills. but when he does it to the point where it becomes a bass solo vs the band he isnt really blending. he clearly has the skill but playing the right things at the right time matters too. it feels like hes shedding more than backing up a worship group. thats all in saying

    At the end of the day, you gotta know when to keep it simple and when to go ham. This was one of those where going ham was needed. Trust me, I play in churches all the time and as I drummer I love keeping it simple.
    However, there are times where I will be directed to go all-out. Why? Because if we're in charge of the atmosphere, then we must go higher as the climate does as well. If you see the Spirit is in the room and everyone is in high gear. Would it make sense to keep doing simple stuff? Not at all. Once you get to the point where you play in the spirit (I've been "there", and have seen other go "there") you will play dramatically different than you're used to.
    However, we're so used to that studio feel that we can't understand there is a different between a studio session, and a live session. This is live. So give it LIFE.

    Beast mode for God. Love it. As long as your heart is in the right place, and your in your word, you cannot outdo it. BUT I think the attention should be on God during worship, not the musicians. If the musicians are getting the attention, it's time to dial ourselves back. I pray these guys aren't paid...I don't believe in getting paid to play for God.

    • @joshuamarango4027
      @joshuamarango4027 10 років тому +3

      thats rubbish... so I cant put all my efforts in playing for God? cause if you put full time in how then do you put food on the table for your kids? by getting paid musicians are guranteed to be professional.. would you put your family aside for church functions?.. if you would you're on your way to hell because the bible a man who doesnt provide for his family is worse than an unbeliever.. man stop being too religious..

    • @Maverick274
      @Maverick274 10 років тому +2

      Bro, God bless you first of all. God of course want's all our efforts, but at a sacrifice. Worshiping God expecting in return is not in the right heart. We should do it because we love him first. I don't play expecting to provide for my family, He simply just does because I have faith like in Mathew 26:6. If you lack in faith for how he can provide, I pray you seek him more. I know a pastor who had been out of work for years, about to run out of unemployment benefits, and turned down a job offer because it would take him away from his church. Due to his faith he got a new house, paid by the government and still got a new job. Do you lack faith? Also, I feel sorry that you need to take God's job of judging people to Hell. It saddens my heart that a follower of Jesus would even say such a thing to another. Please read and seek God more. I love you bro.

      Joshua Marango the bible say your gift will make room for you. and music was so important in the bible aswell as the word!! Im not a fan of payment either but its in the bible not sure what book about the different functions in the church gettingofferings!

    • @BoHutchinson
      @BoHutchinson 10 років тому +4

      Maverick274 and ben walker: Brothers, I'm going to have to side with Joshua Marango and respectfully disagree with both of you on this particular matter. By the way, I'm speaking as a professional musician who is also a bi-vocational ordained Christian minister with a dual bachelors degree in Christian Biblical Studies and Computer Science from East Texas Baptist University (www.etbu.edu). For the purpose of edification, I come by this topic a lot; but it seems the universal source of this conundrum falls well along the lines of what Joshua said at the end of his reply (above): people tend to be so "religious aka legalistic" without actually knowing what scripture says about specific topic/issue because it may not be subject matter that is regularly taught or studied thoroughly. Both of you said "the bible says....." and "I don't believe in...." and "its in the bible not sure what book....". It is this form of "religious legalism" and "lack of knowledge" (without concrete scripture) that has been the thorn in the side of the Christian faith for so very long from the perspective viewpoint of those outside our faith used as a reason why they don't want to have anything to do us within the Christian faith and why some in the Christian faith unfortunately end up leaving it. Actually, The Word of God actually tells us that we DO have the right to share in the harvest (Luke 10:1-7, and most importantly, 1st Corinthians 9:1-14); but most people like to quickly say that Paul didn't do so and that's the example that "we" should follow. The problem however is that, even during the Greco-Roman era, Paul had income being earned in the form of the his residual income from several of his rent homes (Acts 28:30) and as well as being a tent maker. By the way, we all know how extremely popular Philippians 4:19 is in the Christian faith on the surface; but if you look at it in its entire context, you will see that Paul was speaking a word of blessing over them to thank the Church in Philippi for being the ONLY church to share in his trouble and provide for him when he was in need when he set out for Macedonia and when he was in Thessalonica (Philippians 4:14-18) which should help provide more clarity to the 1st Corinthians 9:1-14 scripture because the church in Corinth was one of his "problem child" churches as well. So as we continue to see our fellow brothers & sisters in music & of the faith being gifted and led to be a blessing to The Father's in the holy act of worship, we need to speak (sow) as much joyful words of blessing as we possibly can instead of "I pray that these guys aren't getting paid". First and foremost, we have no clue or idea whatsoever as to he may being battling/dealing with privately in his life. Last but not least, we have to always be aware of the life & power that our words have that we speak over others and over ourselves in this world (Proverbs 18:21 and Proverbs 26:2). Again, I'm writing this out of the sole purpose of edification because we as Christian musicians have more eyes watching us with far more scrutiny than the paparazzi on celebrities, but far more covertly than we could possibly ever realize until they catch us when we stumble.

    I come back to this video for inspiration at least every year or two and find someone who says that they're a Christian, worshipper, Child of God and the very first thing I see is....Judgement. I thought we were supposed to be in Prayer and Love for one another First! And to those with the judge the spirit by the fruits scripture, please... I'm not judging you nor anyone. I don't know your "fruits". I wouldn't judge them from one meeting of you either. So WHY such judgement spiritually or musical? God will let Thaddeus know his wrongs or rights. God will give him Grace, Mercy and Favor in these areas. So let it be so.
    Oh and my fleshy side would say to all the fellow bass players out there saying he's "over playing", it's UA-cam. Put your cover online and let's see how you play this song.

      +Garner Buckley I'm a musician (drummer)... but this most likely isn't a concert environment.
      Everyone is likely just enjoying themselves.
      There's a bass player I know that's just like this in church and everyone is excited when he plays.
      But when performing on big stages, he keeps it STRICTLY professional.
      This video doesn't dictate his entire playing style.

      Ben Kenobi don't phrase something in a way that misrepresents what people are saying. As I've said before, if people exalt Thad in their minds during this, then they aren't exalting God. It's distracting at some point.

    Ridiculous amount of talent on stage!! Bass player was hype, but I don't think he overshadowed anybody. (How do you outplay Tye? lol) I'm assuming the groupies are all young musicians trying to learn. The audience is focused on the choir, as most non-musicians tend to do.

    If i had never stumbled on this video, I would have never heard this song or is message. I love thad's interpretation of this God given message. For all of you nitpicking about his playing style or the people standing around him decide whether or not your bickering is really advancing the front lines of the battle between God and Satan.... If not your words are just hot air. I for one will continue to be uplifted and inspired by this video as a musician and more importantly as a child of GOD
