Umm, I've had 3 Sasquatch experiences, you know what you heard was huge. Not a moose, elk, bear, cougar, deer, bobcat...just the sound you made yourself reminds me of them...the Tree People. Thanks for sharing that experience. They are everywhere in these parts.

The rut/mating season is in the fall. It was an elk. Male Elk are extremely vocal. They are very aggressive during this season. The moon phase was probably full. This last around 4 weeks. They make deep scary sounds & thrash around.. Make noise if walking around at dusk or sunrise. If if going to a pit toilet. Some People will say you heard a Sasquatch...

I lived at Diamond Lake for a few years. when i was 10 my older brother and i seen a massive creature we can only describe as what we knew to be bigfoot. it was standing in the doorway of our house taller then the door frame and the shape of a huge person roughly 10:00pm. my stepdad at the time was head of security at the resort and the next day he was telling my mother of how he chased something into the swamps the shape of a man but huge and foul smelling.. may seem like just a legend for some folks but to others who have witnessed something and heard its grunts and howls you cant shake our belief. put yourself out there in that dense forest for a few nights alone without a dog and chances are you will experience something you thought was just a made up story.

As other commenters have said, it was more than likely an Elk. They make some weird sounds. I have heard similar strange louds sounds in the forest when it was not rut season. I do not believe that there are any Burros around, however, in Big Bear California forest there is a bunch of them and they make some very strange bellowing sounds unlike anything you would think might come from an animal on Earth.

I had to do security overnight for a new condo development near Banff Alberta, Canada. There were elk around and they would scratch trees with their antlers and make groaning and grunting noises, it was rutting season. The scariest part was at about 2:30-3:00 am, I heard what could only be described as a woman screaming in the distance! It almost sounds like a rusty wrought iron gate slowly closing, but scarier! I was freaked the F out! I later learned that elk make that high pitched scream during rutting season, PHEW

I would guess it was a bull elk. Elk have huge 55-gallon sized drum-like lungs and they emit deep guttural groaning sounds as well as a high-pitched whistling during their annual September rutting season. They use those sounds to gather a harem and for challenging other bull elk who already have a harem. During the rut, they are in a very high state of sexual arousal and vocalize both day and night. I don't think it was a sasquatch because the males whistle and croon "By the Light of the Silvery Moon" to attract a mate... ;-)

Heard a pterodactyl like sound myself in the middle of the forest , at a cabin I had rented, in the middle of the night. I was having a puff outside alone, and was coughing, all a sudden, a screech like no other, that was probably no further than 25 ft away in the dark.... It scared the bejesus outta me. I got my ass back inside and was shaken. I have done my fair share of middle of nowhere camping and lived on this island my whole life . I have never heard this sound before , and so loud. Had chills down my spine. This was in Tofino , BC on Vancouver Island , Canada's West coast ! I've never heard anybody else describe the pterodactyl sound till now.....

I was wondering which animals would be nocturnal around there...You could be describing an elk, with the deep, rumbling or nasal heavy breathing or the up & down sounds - but do they travel around at night, alone? Aren't they the kind of critter that travels in small groups or herds during the day?
Owls can make some strange sounds, which you can hear at a distance - then suddenly hear much closer, as I heard once when walking my smallish dog at night. I heard it call out as we approached that end of the street. It was up in the trees - Oaks, evergreens, Maples that were all about 60', & 70+ ' tall...so we'd turned around & started walking back towards our house. I had a creepy scared feeling - knowing it could've easily swooped down to nab my dog. I wondered - it's night vision is still keen - s maybe it could tell that my dog was on a leash. Then it hooted again, & it was up in a tree - maybe the Colorado Blue spruce next to my house, or on my neighbor's roof - but it was so close so it creeped me out to realize it had followed us. We hurried up the steps & into the front door...
The owl sounds I've heard are deep, but not all are, & do not resemble growling, or rumbling sounds - but if they attacked a rabbit - the rabbits do scream - like a horrible intermittent shrieking - until their throats are cut, & the sounds of an owl landing on the rabbit on the ground, plus the struggling rabbit would make some strange rustling, thumping sounds...

Elk have a very high pitched, almost a whistle like sound. Big Foot make the sounds you’re describing 😳

From the noise made to mimic it its almost certainly a deer or elk but without hearing it properly its hard to say

Thank you for letting me come along virtually. I love listening to Becky laugh, she has a great laugh, I admire her so much too, I know she wishes Hank was there, he is so adorable. Thank you for sharing this adventure, it makes me want to go there, maybe I can by Autumn 2019 if my place sells. Crater Lake NP looks amazing!
I hope you had fun at Descend on Bend. Safe travels wherever you are now.
I almost forgot, thanks for introducing me to Hot Hot Coffee... love it, my kind of music!

Was lovin' the music from the beginning - then, when at the Crater Lake Visitors Ctr, when you recorded a bit inside the shop, you showed a painted image of the mountain blowin' it's top - with the steam, smoke & ash shooting up...& as I puzzled over the lightning bolts - the music was perfectly timed - with that weird synthesized sound - as if the sound effect for a cartoon spaceship...lol. And - love the 3D model of Crater Lake & the poster on the wall, at the end. It looks like a woodcut style, rarely seen anymore - so has a nostalgic feel - especially with that early motorcycle!
All together - a very satisfying vid, Jimmy! Has a bit of everything!

Probably an Elk or deer. Elk can really bellow and deer will snort and rustle around. They raid my bird feeders at night.

When I was in the Rockies on a Jeep pass I saw barefoot huge toeprints going up a hill. Like climbing up on their toes. Then I heard a snort. I got out of there quickly. Never to know....but I know what I saw that day

I know this is a few years back but at 06:20 in the video, upper right night, something moving around almost like an eye, sometimes 2 eyes. Whats strange is sometimes on the vertical, up there. Strange.

    LOL. Elk in rut.
Yeah they are pretty fierce sounding when they are in rut. My buck goats made those sounds, but they are smaller in size. An elk is about the size of a horse, so they sound more like a dragon when in rut.

See Jimmy, I am not the only one who believes in bigfoot. You go to these places where they have sightings. I have never seen on and dont want to. But I do believe.. You need to put out voice recorders to capture these sounds. I just love it LOVE LOVE IT Google bigfoot sounds. Do you ever look up bigfoot sightings in the areas that you are in? I would. Just remember your camera is as good as a gun when it comes to bigfoot. They will stay away from you. Stay safe and happy travels. Cant wait till your next bigfoot place. LOL

I laughed when you took off your glasses to read--I do too! Its weird getting older when you've always been nearsighted. I just turned 60, and although I generally still wear glasses I've noticed they're not really all that necessary except when I'm driving or watching TV. So I guess that's something you have to look forward to.
