In the benefit of doubt, these scammers are getting really good it being creative and covering their tracks. Especially with how AI is constantly evolving and how easy to use and everything.

there will always be gullible and naive people who fall for scams, unfortunately. the best we can do is notice who these gullible people are, and educate them the best we can to avoid being scammed. i don’t think there will ever be a time where people aren’t being scammed like this.

Genetics, good skincare and wearing sunscreen even when you stay inside (UV light can even damage your skin through the windows) and a good diet (lots of water and greens and fruits)
My problem with most the catfish victims is their main priority is finding an attractive partner while not being as attractive as the people they’re pursuing. Not saying they deserve to be catfished but at the end of the day they’re going after someone for shallow reasons. Always be suspicious of super gorgeous people you’ve never met giving you so much attention.
You are familiar with the dating site stats ? 80% of the women go for the top 20% of the guys completely ignoring the other 80% of "decent / average / below average men" While Guys are willing to go for 80% of the women from the pretty ones to the way below average ones. There is a very large pool of attention starved men while women have it relatively easy to hook up. I can't blame any guy for taking a shot at someone who gives them attention it's a shame women are abusing this for financial gain.

to be fair, nev gets really angry sometimes, and there's one episode that's not on streaming services bc he got so fed up he threw the catfishes phone straight into a lake, it was hilarious and awesome. i remember watching it the night it premiered and i legit stood up in shock bc i had never seen nev get so mad, but that guy was SUPER rude and disrespectful, not to mention a total scammer. nev knows most people do it bc they're lonely, but he is human and has his limits too.

these people are willingly sending these scammers money. technically the scammers aren’t doing anything illegal. they’re just benefiting off of stupidity.
They could be charged with fraud or criminal impersonation. But the maximum punishment would be a tiny slap on the wrist.
