- Dave shows you some tips and hacks to run your 2 point sling like a pro. It is no secret that Dave's preference is the 2 point but after watching this video you can understand why. Not only does it secure and retain your rifle, but it can also be used as a hasty support sling, on barricades and objects. These lessons were learned at various rifle classes, sniper classes, matched and Dave's experience using a patrol rifle over the last two decades.

whitch one would be good for running
Excellent video, straight to the point, with zero fluff....I'll be back
I just built my first AR and am unfamiliar with how a sling set up should function. This was very helpful.
Thanks, please subscribe
Same for me! It was crazy, makes a lot more sense now
Thanks you saved me an awkward statement!!!
Always run a two point sling. Great video, very informative. Learned a couple of new techniques. Thanks Dave!!
To be honest, I'm new to utilizing a sling, this video was very informative! Thank you for your definitive explanation and examples of use. I think I'll start off with a 2 point. Liked this a lot!
Great video and great tips! I had never seen the off body use of a sling in any other video...definitely something I'll keep in the back of my head.
I agree. Nice comment.
I've tried all diffrent types of slings over the years. The one sling I now use is the WPS Sling with Magpul QD Cups . I absolutely love not having any adjustments. I didnt think I was going to like it but I ran it at 4 2Gun matches . It's definitely my go too SLING and it works best for my application.
HSP D3 , VCAS 221 or Proctor Sling was my go too for a lot of year.
Very informative clip. You cover just about everything that you can do with the two point sling. Thanks again for the clip. Ive saved the video and are continuing to practice every day until it’s simply natural.
Thanks for elaborating on on this more after the 2 vs 1 point video. After playing around with setup on my DDM4 PDW 300blk, which is a very short 7" barrel, I find that attaching to the QD on the castle nut and the QD on the rail, I get quite a bit of mobility with a 2 point connection. There is certainly more freedom of movement with just a single point on the castle, but the drawback is that there is way too much movement when at rest.
This video does not have enough views. Here's a like good sir. Was already leaning towards a two point sling for my new AR15, but this was great. Very informative.
Greetings from South Africa!
This is one of the best videos I have seen, 2 point sling always.
Thanks for the info Dave 🙌
Super informative video! Thank you for the education and the tips and tricks
Thanks for that tutorial. When I was in the service, we only used two point slings. I got out of the service in 1984, and had no idea how to use a single point sling.
This is the nicest explanation of a rifle sling and its uses. I was always looking for good reasons for a vertical grip, and you included those reasons. I really mean this. You do a good job. Thank you.
Thanks for the comment, I always appreciate them. I do remember a question asking about vertical grips not that long ago but I could not remember if it was yours or not. Glad you found the info helpful
Good stuff especially using the sling to stabilize our rifles 👍👍
Been using a two point forever! I use a forward QD, a QD in front of the receiver, a QD on the buffer tube, and a QD on the rear of the stock. I use them all depending on the optic for balance. Great video brother!
Have a Slingster on my FN Tac-15 carbine and BFG Vickers sling on my Aero AR-9. I was considering a different sling for my AR pistol build that I am getting ready to do and this video was very helpful.
Thank you for the excellent instruction from real world practical stuff.
Great training!
Thanx for this video!
Always great content
Great video on probably the best way to use a 2 point sling.
Great video. End plate qd is always clutch
Nice job! Presented in a well organized and concise style. I'm researching which sling arrangement would be best and you have convinced me to go with the 2 point. Thanks.
Thank you so much for the kind comment, please subscribe for more quality content and if you have any video suggestions, let me know.
Excellent info & video! Thanks
Funny enough I have been researching for a few weeks on putting a sling setup on my Americas Rifle 15. I got everything setup on it last week. Today I came across your video and i’ll be dammed if our setups aren’t nearly identical in type, placement and operation.
Thank you for the excellent video which covers everything it took me weeks to figure out. Subscribed 👍
Thanks for watching and the sub!
Good info! Thank you
Very good stuff! Thank you!
Super good video and nice job! Very informative!
Thank you!
Great video brother. Off body tips were new to me.
Great video! Thank you!
I’m a 2 point sling guy.
Blue force gear vickers tactical sling.
Good job on this video. I've tried different ways of rigging the sling, but being a bass and guitar player of twenty years, I found that the same way im used to wearing my guitars on stage or in practice worked just as well with my AR. Yes, I did put a guitar strap on it at first, but the new rifle strap has now taken its place. (Although I may have to try the AR sling on one of the guitars!) Thanks again for a great video. God bless.
☝️🙂🔥 Edit...and I can get the left forearm wrapped once on the draw, without any effort, way better. Falls into place. Thanks.
Awesome job.
awesome vid... i actually liked subscribe and now ill binge watch! lol
Solid info.... definitely 2 point
Super ! I realize how important a sling
Good info
Great video! Well thought out, instructive and informative without all the B.S. Keep it up! (Just Sub'd)
Great video and very informative.. was also wondering what your thoughts are on the leupold lpvo?
Great video. Nobody actually teaches how to actually USE a sling and how to wear a sling. I always just wore it around my neck like a necklace, this stuff really isn't taught it seems. Trying to learn about sling manipulation because it's always felt awkward to me.
Good info again
Thanks man!
thanks
2 pt. thanks
Ty
Double point. I have the same setup you spoke about.
I love 2 point. More familiar even with non AR style guns. Amazing how over complicated it can get.
Legit....great video...Thanks!...👍
Thanks! Please share
I run a 2-pt, but if I'm wearing my plate-carrier the sling rides up and rubs my neck raw, so I rigged a 1-pt on my carrier vest. I have QD on both.
I love to use chest rig with 2 point sling because they act as a cushion and prevent the rifle from knocking on my body.
Where can I buy that particular 2 point sling ???
this was useful, but my AR doesnt use QD points. just getting started so still learning subscribed
Thanks. I Mean That..
My sling is crap, what is a good 2 point QD sling?
GrovTec sentinel 2 point, for Me it's my goto for all my rifles
Question from a life long shooter that is relatively new to slings. Is it acceptable to to have your weapon barrel up when on your back. Or is it better barrel down? Thanks
Depends on your needs. That would be a great video topic.
The problem with not having the sling farther towards the muzzle is balance. Having the sling closer to the magwell unbalances the gun when sinched in. And tou can still put tension on the sling when it is out towards the barrel, just a little different technique. To each their own.
Switching shoulder when shooting from behind cover (a wall, building, whatever) is the most common use I see of switching shoulders. And it is fairly common actually. Not everyone does it but I've definitely seen people do it in Iraq and have done it myself. Also I've seen it on police body cams.
Please send me some links. I’d love to see it being used You can email me if you’d prefer as well. Not doubting you but I just don’t see it and when rounds are flying I haven’t seen a report of it being used at all
What sling are you using in this video? I lick the easy adjustment.
vtac
Good ideas. Still undecided her3….
2 point FTW
He is a street sling magician.
I prefer 2 point. You did leave out another large window of opportunity. Keep the forward qd in front of the magwell as you have it, move the sling qd from the butt stock to the castle nut qd position. This creates the movement ability while retaining two point advantages.
Agree 100 great method to mimic single point sling likeness
two point always
The unspoken con to a single-point sling: you can't run without your rifle hitting you in the junk.
Single.point slings are for 2 kinds of people 1) Shooters who never run or climb ladders with their rifle 2) Shooters who like getting hit in the junk by their rifle while they are running or climbing ladders. That is all. Carry on.
Been saying this for years 1 points have their place, 2 points have their place... Thinking that one is just "better" than the other is mostly ignorant. Like all things in life, it really just depends. I am generally running my rifle as a 2 point but my sling has a qd point on the sling so I can go from a 2point to a 1point very quickly (Magpul ms4, one of haleys slings also has it... Not the cheaper one). While YOU might not use it there are very good reasons for it, but it's (generally) more of an advanced and niche use case. Not to sound like I'm talking down or anything but going from a 2 point to a 1 point for some better cqb needs is a very real thing that is actually used by people. Will you use it? probably not. And for most people, a 2point is all they will ever use and ever need to use. Most people won't need to go to a 1point for cqb needs. And if they do, they're probably gonna wind up dead because doing cqb is mostly stupid unless you're with a team that trains together. SO. Once again... Llike most things in life it all just kinda depends. Depends on you and who you're with, what youre doing, whats going on, where youre at, your skills, etc.
I do think some things are better…for me. :-)
In a home defense rifle, it really doesn't matter, but simple is best. If it is a duty rifle, a single point sling is not a great idea. If you need to go to your pistol or need to just free your hands for whatever reason, the rifle becomes a floppy mess and a liability. Two point is the way to go in my experience for almost all of the situations it is used for. Three point is good for certain missions, but it's complexity is a detractor to it's overall usefulness.
Lol, I'd say switching shoulders is more realistic than wrapping the sling around a post😂
First time I used a single point sling I was walking to the deer stand and made it about 10’ from the truck and immediately hated it
Typo meant to say I like the adjustment.
Two point always
I like 2 point sling and have a qd mounted global osprey sling, never really tried 1 point sling but I heard you can clip yourself in the pills if set up and move around but maybe that's only if it's not hanging right. Lol
Coming from a guy who used to run a single point sling, you only do that once. Ask me how I know :-)
@@GunsandTactics always wondered that was a myth and I only can shoot lefty southpaw and have major left eye dominance but I can shoot right handed but not nearly as good of groups
what scope is that on your rifle?
Leupold Patrol 6HD, great scope
@@GunsandTactics
thank you
I have both… But I much prefer 2 point sling.
This dude has 2 first names lol
Next time wear a lighter colored shirt so we can see the rifle and sling better.
😂 that is so random but you have a point but he’s also showing you camouflage I guess
2 point here.
Have never liked the one point sling. Old school two point for me.
Ferro Concepts Naked Slingster.
Legit.
Two point
What sling do you use on your rifle?
I wouldsay shooting from behind cover/concealment is realistic and switching shoulders on duty could easily happen
@@rezdog187 I still have yet to see it in real life. If you find a video please let me know. In force on force training, review of rifle shoots etc haven’t seen it.
I started with a Blue Force Vickers sling because it seemed to be the thing at the time, but hated how the edge of the strap would cut into my neck. Switched all my slings to T.rex Arms slings which are way more comfortable, cheaper, and come in all my favorite flavors. I am curious about the Warpoet sling with the bungee section but I think I'm either going to really like it or really hate it. I don't want to spend that much money to find out!
VTAC 2-pt bungee sling. The bungee portion that goes around my neck is a super smooth seatbelt tube. It is super comfortable, so it works well for an entire day. The adjustable length also makes it easy to cinch the AR to the body.
Ferro Concepts Naked Slingster.
Legit.
Always 2 point! 2 point can do everything a single point can do. A single point can't do everything a 2 point can. Yes single point can do some things better.....but a 2 point can still do it.
Special Response, they really do switch hit😎
Clearing rooms , house's,some random ass building,,. Switch hit
That’s weird because of the thousands of swat students that have gone through high threat CQB and various other classes from my colleagues we never see that in force on force training when there is any sort of stress involved. They might train that way but it is not realistic hence why we never see it on any sort of actual action video. So then becomes the even bigger question why do we train something that people really never do?
Always switching shoulders in airsoft
Also, if your sling was loose, then it would get in the way of your reloads
What ever happened to the 3 point slings?
1997 called and took them back
@@GunsandTactics Yes but, y?
@@beachboardfan9544 because they weren’t that great. They were overly complicated, didn’t add much value with the cross strap. Sometimes simple is better
3 point slings are definitely the best of all worlds, I would take any part of 1997 back at this point in time. I don’t care if I have to search eBay for used slings
2 point slings are great if you buy a quality one.
RoaR
So I have to ask what does that mean? I may be showing my age but I see you comment that often and I don’t know what it means. Man I feel like such an old guy who is out of touch right now
@@GunsandTactics oh, lol, you're good.... That's my "comment literally anything" comment to contribute to people's algorithms.
🤙🏻👊🏻💪🏻🇺🇲
Id be ashamed if anyone saw how mines mounted now. Im gonna go fix it right now
Mmmmm witness marks…
you know it
I have only two point slings as I’m not into getting smacked in the 🥜
If you can shoot 100% the same from both shoulders and at a high level then ok, but fact is 99.9% OF people can't. Switching shoulders has been overrated for years and used ad a gimmick. Master your fundamentals with the gun and your tactics.
Of course ambidextrous shooting is not realistic because everyone refuses to do it. That doesn't change the fact that not switching shoulders before you emerge from cover to the left exposes the rest of your body before the bore of your barrel comes on target. And on the flipside if a right handed opponent appears from your right side of his cover without switching shoulders, he is exposed to you for quite a while before he can put rounds into you.
Have you thought about why though?
@@GunsandTactics for the same reason why some people don't put the safety on before lowering their muzzle, they think it takes too much time. Right?
Not exactly. I will add it to the list to make a video about this topic as well as switching hands while shooting a handgun, both just aren’t realistic.
@@GunsandTactics if you demonstrate some perspectives on camera that should make for an interesting video. Although I'd have liked an answer in comment form instead of waiting for a video.
2 point, and never not 2 point!
Two-points. There are no situations in which I'd find myself needing a single-point sling that I can't just swim out of a two-point sling or change the QD point.
Single point slings are good if you want your ar15 to hit you in the nuts
Single point slings are great if you like being hit in the nuts with a rifle
Lost a lot of credibility by saying who changes shoulders lol
Show me some videos of people doing it in real life? I get it we all train that way but any OIS or combat footage I haven’t seen it. Not saying it’s impossibly or doesn’t have its place but in stress all I see is dudes keeping their rifle shouldered on primary side
