Hello Chandi, Emily O’Dell is my wife and knitting has been what has saved her throughout our tough situation that has spanned four years. Literally saved her life. The way you have displayed this design and your calming words touched both of us and she is currently watching your video for the fourth time. Knitting and crochet is the only thing that brings her peace as we mourn our ambiguous loss of our children through trafficking. You have brought her such a profound sense of peace with this video and I want to extend my sincerest gratitude to you and your followers for helping save my wife. God bless all of you and from my family to yours Thank you all ❤️

I felt so much better, it relaxed & brought a smile to my mind, heart and soul. 'So, I just keep praying, knitting & crocheting. I’m going to make this shawl for sure. Thanks Chandi.

Knitting helped me while I was supporting my sister through her stem cell treatment for cancer. For weeks I sat beside her bed knitting hats and shawls that she could use on her then bald head in the softest of fibres that wouldn't cause any itch. The act of knitting helped both of us during that time and we both have wonderful memories of the laughter, the tears, the fear, and the elation when her cancer went into remission. Take the time and get in touch with yourself one stitch at a time while also adding hope and love into every one of those same stitches. A handmade item is truly a priceless gift in my opinion.

Knitting has helped me find peace and calm when I was hospitalised with my 1st pregnancy. I've collapsed in the middle of my 8th month of pregnancy and was rushed to the hospital, it was in the middle of the pandemic and all the stress and overworking myself, trying to prepare my small business for my little one's arrival, had been too much for my body. Because of all the precautions I couldn't have any visitors the whole time I was hospitalised, but my husband managed to get me my work-in-progress. I was working on a gorgeous shawl with an intricate but soothing pattern, the feel of my wooden needles and the buttery yarn were what kept me calm and balanced during that rough time.
Today my daughter is 2,5 years old and loves watching me knit. She always wants to try with me, she also loves to wear what I knit for her and proudly announces "mommie made this!" to anyone willing to listen. I'm pregnant again, and have vowed to be nicer to myself this time around, taking little moment to myself with my knitting is the key for me.
Thank you for this beautiful video, it is always like a chicken soup for my soul ❤

If several days have gone by where I haven't worked on something, I can feel the absence in my body and am drawn to sit down and pick it up again. Soothing, meditative, centering, and grounding. So grateful to have hands that have all their fingers and work well, a brain that can figure things out, money to afford yarn and nice needles, and time to devote to the craft. Thank you for your virtual calming, uplifting presence. ❤

Knitting keeps me calm on a daily basis. I've always said that it's therapeutic and so satisfying to see the end results of your work, especially when it's a gift for someone you love. I learned to knit from my mother and picked it up at a time in my life when my world seemed to be falling apart. I was living in a shelter with my two young daughters and within months of each other, I was diagnosed with MS and my younger daughter with bipolar disorder. We were there for over a year before we finally found a place to live. Knitting got me through all that. Now, some twenty years later, I'm the proud mother of a nurse and making gifts for my grandchildren. I owe my current life to knitting because it kept me from sinking into despair even at my lowest points.

I just love the way you connect knitting to an attitude of living. It speaks to the way I lived for several years while my husband’s battle with Parkinson’s intensified and he finally had to be moved to a nursing home. Knitting was a large part of ‘showing myself that I am alive, am still able to find joy and pride in spite of heartache, that creativity largely helps to rescue one from drowning. My husband passed over a year ago and now knitting helps me find a sense of worth and joy and passing some otherwise lonely hours. Joined a knitting club which reinforces all those things. Yes, we don’t just knit beautiful or useful items, we engage in something that calms, brings joy, gifts us with useful life-lessons of perseverance, patience and trust in the process. Thank you ❤️

I learned to knit, following your UA-cam tutorials, near the end of 2019. As we all know, 2020 was a year for the record books. Whenever I am overwhelmed by life, whatever it has thrown my way, my hook brings me back to center. A simple single crochet thermal stitch potholder and my mind can stop thinking about the days troubles and just focus on the motion of going into the stitch, picking up a loop and going back through both. Again and again. At some point I start to sing in my head or pray then I feel the peace come over me. Alas all is well, for now. Thank you for a beautiful pattern. I learned to knit last year, hoping to become so much better next year as it will be my craft of focus. ❤

I have always said that knitting is very zen for me. Knitting makes me concentrate on what I’m doing so every other thought or care vanishes for the time that passes while knitting and I actually feel more peaceful afterwards.

Chandi you are such a gentle soul. You give us so much with your words.
Knitting and crocheting have helped me cope with the loss of my husband three and half years ago. I had not done either for decades, too busy with work. But I picked it back up and it's been a lifesaver, them and my cats lol.

Beautiful pattern! And lovely colors. I love to knit, but I learned to crochet when I was 8 years old. My grandma taught me. So that is my go-to when things are not going well, because crochet is comforting to me.

When I knit 🧶 I'm in the zone and any of life's frustrations are completely forgotten about. I look forward to every Friday for that special pattern you share. This week's pattern is so gorgeous and I'm going to treat myself to the yarn and making this for me. Thank you and I'm so grateful for you and all the information and lovely messages you give. You are the knitting angel.

Knit and crochet are the ways I wind down from my day. It's been my savior in stressful times for the last....5 years. Keeps the hands busy, which if it's even a slightly difficult pattern, it also keeps you focused on that, instead of whatever else is going on. ❤

The beginning of your video brought me to tears. Crochet saved me during a very difficult tragedy - December 2016. I learned to Crochet because I couldn't quilt. I couldnt use rotary cutters, sewing machine, needles and scissors because my mind couldn't concentrate without veering and making a mistake with sharp tools. In came Crochet and counting, so much counting, it helped ease my soul. I often turn to Crochet during difficult times now, but I love the beauty in the quiet slow and therapeutic benefits it gives me.

I'm always amazed at how a beautiful skein of yarn can give such joy and peace...it stops time for a moment...calms my mind. For that I'm so thankful. How satisfying it is to turn those yards of yarn into lovely knit or crochet items for myself, friends, family.

Yes Chandi, I have used knitting and crochet to calm myself and relax specially when my kids were small. I remember when I used to be stressed my kids would bring me the knitting basket and a cup of tea 🍵. Memories I still reach out to knitting to find time to 🤔. Thanks Chandi, for all you do.

I just want to say your voice is so soothing and calming. I logged on by chance and was captivated by your ability to take away my anxiety in a matter of minutes. I am a beginner knitter who suffered a brain injury and had to stop working as an RN. Overnight my life changed and I went from working full-time, going to school to be a nurse practitioner in graduate school full-time, to being on a ventilator and motorized wheelchair and no longer having the career I worked so hard for for so long. Now, I’ve been able to get out of the wheelchair when nobody thought that was possible but I walk with a cane and can’t work. I have anxiety and depression now and knitting has really helped but hearing your voice, and watching your videos and instructions have been so incredible and life changing. I know you probably think that sounds crazy and I don’t want you to think I’m trying to be overly dramatic but if you’ve ever felt overwhelmed multiply that and you might understand the feeling I get when I don’t feel like I can figure out how to handle the future and somehow handing things over to God doesn’t make it better. Anyway, your videos, your message, your yarn are are beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing!

I've never thought cables can be that easy 😊. Thank you Chandi, I'm always learning something new here. I don't want to get into details, but knitting and crocheting are very helpful for me this days to calm me down and think some positive thoughts. The rhythm, the stitch counting, see my project grow beautifully, sometimes just feeling the yarn makes me feel better. Thank you again. Have a wonderful, calm, happy weekend full of love and making and creating.💖

Like so many here, I have always found so much joy in my fiber arts. My knitting bag is a true friend that has traveled with me through all the ups and downs of this crazy journey…everywhere from sitting with my crazy fun knitter friends to just gathering a few moments to myself by grabbing my needles and curling up in a chair. It’s always always calmed my mind and heart. (It certainly got me through my kiddos’ teen years! They should be grateful to knits and pearls…just sayin’!) LOL

I knit when I was younger then picked it back up when I had 2 of my kids have life altering injuries. It helped me pass the time sitting in the hospital and at after care appointments. I was able to have that meditative calming to help me process all that was going on and what was involved going forward. I feel like this helped me through a really hard time and now I knit more for enjoyment and because you keep bringing out these beautiful yarns and projects. 😊❤

I find that crocheting is part of my evening routine. I have always found falling asleep to be difficult, the unresolved problems /unfinished work keeping me awake. Now I spend at least an hour in the evening listening to music or a book and crochet. Of course, if I find time to crochet in the daytime, I consider it a bonus! Thanks for all you kind thoughts and great videos.

Knitting and crocheting have gotten me through many challenging times. As a breast cancer survivor it takes my mind to another place. Beautiful yarn feels wonderful in your hands as it starts a creation from a single stitch. When the project is complete i have a lovely item to give away to hopefully brighten someone’s day

What a beautiful video. And the colors of the shawl are simply stunning. I keep two patternless WIPs on my end table--one crochet and one knit. Their purpose is in part to practice stitches, but because there is no pattern, their real purpose is to calm my mind with repetitive stitch making. Made of scrap yarn, they become blankets for the dogs and cats when big enough. Thank you for starting this Friday on such a lovely note.

I learned to knit during covid. I'm somewhat of a hobby collector dude to my adhd and knitting taught me that I'm capable of sticking with a hobby, instead of getting frustrated and giving up. Now, it's how I keep my hands busy while I watch TV or do basically anything else

Thank you for this lovely video, and thank you, too, to Emily O'Dell, for this lovely pattern. As a child, I always wanted to learn how to knit and sew, but had no one to teach me: literally, not a single person in my life knew how to knit, and the few who could sew were simply not available to me. Finally, in my 50s, I connected to a community of knitters at my local library, and the rest is history. (I learned to sew in my 50s, as well, but I have yet to conquer zippers.) Knitting has kept me sane on four hour plane flights. It has helped me to teach my granddaughter that mistakes are okay, especially in knitting, because they can be undone, even to the point of frogging the whole thing and putting the yarn back on the ball. (BTW, this 9 yr old granddaughter is knitting tiny scarves for her stuffies on those plastic yarn needles we use to weave in ends. She is amazing.) Knitting, for me, gives me grace and patience (see the aforementioned plane flights.) I can sit in doctors' waiting rooms and not get antsy about delayed appointments. Sitting in hospital rooms/ERs with my husband (or myself) is not so terrible, since it is time to knit; I even make sure they place the IV in a spot that doesn't interfere with my knitting, lol. And when I am at family gatherings with certain VERY talkative relatives, knitting helps me to listen better, and keep my mouth shut.
