Always say that, if he stayed, the band would've lasted like max 3 albums before collapsing, this way we got two great bands, and Mustaine got to evolve into greatness, because in Metallica he was co-writer/lead guitar/wannabe-leader, after creating Megadeth he evolved into main writer/all-around guitar player/singer/band leader, gave David Ellefson a chance to also do greatness and picked crazy talented musicians to fill up drums and lead guitar, like Gar, Poland, Friedman, Menza, DeGrasso, Drover, Broderick, LoMenzo, Dirk and Angra's legend Kiko Loureiro.
I love this album it was the 'new' album at the time I was getting into megadeth and metal in general. Kick the Chair and Blackmail the Universe are killer, but The Scorpion stood out to me recently

The System Has Failed is one of the best Megadeth albums, and is such a testament to Dave’s pure and unadulterated talent, as it’s really truly a solo album. ❤
Probably one of my top 3 Megadeth albums just for Kick the Chair, Tears in a Vial, and The Scorpion. The other songs are great, but those three really kick things up a notch and set the atmosphere and tone with the instruments to match the lyrics.
Dave, as a life long fan, I love seeing your humility and heart to go along with your always present cerebral self, you are finally a whole human being, reborn to grow to new heights
When I heard he liked Crowded House, that was the first time I heard that they had any success outside New Zealand, Australia and maybe the United Kingdom. They were obviously huge in New Zealand and Australia, but that doesn't always translate to international success.
The solo of Losing My Senses is really great and beautiful and the lyrics are very deep and touching. I'd wish more people were familiar with those "not-so-known" Megadeth songs.
If you weren't a fan of his before this interview, holy f*ck, you DEFINITELY can't deny how awesome he is... especially now that he's been humbled... he just keeps becoming more and more human
A LOT OF PEOPLE DON’T HAVE A LOT OF NICE THINGS TO SAY ABOUT DAVE BUT NONE OF US ARE PERFECT BUT HE IS A GENUINE DUDE WITH A GOOD HEART AND ONE OF THE GREATEST MUSICIANS OF ALL TIME 💀
Dave supports Christian Nationalism, and Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn, who wants to take away women's rights to abortion under any circumstances and even ban some ways of contraception. And, naturally, claims that Trump won the last election. He also appears on the show of Alex Jones, who claimed, among other crazy things, that the Sandy Hook Shooting was staged. That's not a genuine guy with a good heart to me.
"The girl who did the spoken part in the middle is a friend of mine named Jun. She worked at a sushi bar near the studio so we asked her to come and record with us. She is a cool chick and I still keep in touch with her. This song won us the Genesis award, given out by an animal activist group. At the star-studded Hollywood awards ceremony Ellefson and I tried hard to contain our laughter as these TV and movie stars got up on stage and anthropomorphosised in their acceptance speeches. "I'd like to thank so-and-so, so-and-so, so-and-so, but most importantly of all, Fluffy and Fido, for their constant inspiration, blah, blah, blah..." (Friedman, 2002).
God Bless you Dave, I was also born at The Same Hospital as you . Within Months of each other. Love You BRO!!!! . Grossmont Hospital. My Mom was Fourteen and My Dad was eighteen. Yoooooo Dave giving a shoutout to Losing My Senses made my day. I've been waiting to find tabs for that on Songsterr for years. One of my top 5 Megadeth songs

As long as they both don't fall back into any adictions that is, my guess it would b James tho. Absolutely! I was pissed that they didn't use the opportunity of Kirk losing his riff tapes to bring Dave back in for just one album for _Hardwired._ The Hetfield/Ulrich/Mustaine/Burton combination is what got this whole thing started for both bands, and while Cliff ain't with us anymore, Trujillo is as good as anyone to cover for Cliff. It'd just be good to actually hear James and Dave on the same album together weaving that chemistry together, coz as much as I like Kirk and think they made the right decision to fire Dave, Kirk was nowhere near as good as Dave as far as the _Kill Em All_ solos go.

Loved those two albums Dave mentioned, The System Has Failed and United Abominations. Lot of respect for Dave and as many have said, as tough as it was for Dave, I’m glad he was removed from Metallica as we wouldn’t have Megadeth had that not happened.
I'm not on anyone's 'team', so to speak, and I have no idea why people think it's some sort of rivalry. I don't understand that mentality. I fucken love Megadeth and am constantly listening to them, but have also grown up first with Metallica before I even knew of Megadeth many years later. I suppose in a way, that dog was part of why we have 2 of these great bands today.
the world needs a hero is a great album. my friend had it and i started singing "am i evil" over "when". then i bought the album and listened to it and played it all day for two years. then i read in terrorizer magazine that dave got injured and couldn't tour. "losing my senses" was a great song but the whole album was great.
He got nerve damage while in rehab in AZ It was a freak thing where he went to sleep in a chair, and the position his left arm was in for such a long time shut off blood flow to the main nerve in his arm. This was, I believe sometime after the Rude Awakening Tour (2002). He lost almost all use of his left arm and hand. The doctors told him he would never play guitar again. That he would probably not even regain full use of his hand or arm. He disbanded Megadeth for a while not knowing if he would ever get to play again, and took time off to retrain and rehabilitate his hand and arm and he managed through the grace of God to overcome what very easily could have ended his career. We are blessed by this man's perseverance and will to survive whatever life throws at him, most recently the throat cancer. Another gift from God that he was victorious over that horrible disease. Just not his time yet. Thankfull we have the master with us still.
Dave has matured greatly and seems to be quite the inspiration. His guitar playing, especially his angry solo style are what inspired me most as I was first learning guitar. I had a lot of anger having been alone and poor most of my life so I understand many of the struggles Dave has gone through maybe that’s why I’ve been a fan since the fateful Saturday MTV aired Holy Wars for the first time. Until that moment the only REAL metal album id heard was Justice and RIP was the only album to displace that album from my player until I naturally found Columbia house and did the tapes for 1 cent. Keep throwing out music Dave. Although I switched to bass lately (wanted to learn 6 string fretless a la Forest LaPointe/Steve DiGiorgio) metal still flows in my veins. Saw Megadeth in Nashville with LOG, Trivium and In Flames in 2022.
My all time favorite musician and the reason I picked up guitar and self taught myself. I hope he keeps living life like a the badass he is for a long time
Dave: "One hour from now, another species of life form will disappear off the face of the planet" Me who's trying to eat sandwich: "Half a minute from now, another pickle will fall off the face of the sandwich"
Should have played with Alexi Laiho. I think he toured with Children of Bodom...Best Metal Guitarist of his generation. Could do it all: rhythm AND solo
One of my favorite bands is Scatterbrain .humorous lyrics and outstanding guitar playing!! They had a couple hits on MTV.. Don’t Call Me Dude and Down With The Ship a medley of classic rock!! Here Comes Trouble is the name of the album!! It’s a good time!!

Nothing to regret, Dave. Had it not ended with Metallica, we would not be gifted with so many incredible Megadeth albums

I’ve loved you since Killing Is My Business... and the new record is awesome! Keep it up bro! Faster is better!
Loving the facelift album in the background!
Thanks for the upload. Dave your a role model and legend. FYI Satriani sings back ups on the First Crowded House album . I worked for homeless people and Dave your authenticity would be acknowledged by them. Being authentic is the key ✌️🤘🏴🇦🇺
Loved those two albums Dave mentioned, The System Has Failed and United Abominations.
Lot of respect for Dave and as many have said, as tough as it was for Dave, I’m glad he was removed from Metallica as we wouldn’t have Megadeth had that not happened.
Dude... MY LAST WORDS has my favorite Megadeth solo EVER!!!!
9:15 I wish Megadeth will record a live show with symphony orchestra someday!
Dave did it's on UA-cam
@@Duck_Dodgers yeah, I know, it was great but it was totally different thing tho. I would love to hear Megadeth' songs
Love you Dave thank you for your art and the Band and always your support to our Veterans
You know what...thank you to your dog Dave. 🙏 rip puppy
We wouldn't have MEGADETH today. I'm always on team MEGADETH!
Always great to hear from Dave!
the world needs a hero is a great album. my friend had it and i started singing "am i evil" over "when". then i bought the album and listened to it and played it all day for two years. then i read in terrorizer magazine that dave got injured and couldn't tour.
Rust In Peace! 🤘. My favorite Megadeth Album
Wish You Were Here with headphones IS ESSENTIAL!!! My fave of all the Floyd records!! Goodbye Yellowbrick Road is a classic!!
My all time favorite musician and the reason I picked up guitar and self taught myself. I hope he keeps living life like a the badass he is for a long time
If you watch this video, it is him answering questions, but he also lauded James as the greatest down picker among the big 4 thrash guitar players.
Dave Wights wife cries herself to sleep at night.
Cool interview with thoughtful questions. Long live MEGA-DAVE.
Good stuff Dave, thank you! Make more beer, I actually really like it man!
Brilliant interview! Thank you!
wow i love crowded house, lot of pretty vocals on that record
Mr.Dave you are the real deal. Thank you
Dave and James's relationship is like Scorpion and Sub zero
I'm humbly surprised to see him wearing a Neural DSP shirt. I wonder if we'll ever get a Archetype: Mustaine plugin, that would be awesome.
@Dave Scott Mustaine
Fan accounts pretending to be the artist are so fucking cringe.
I guess Dave woke up on the right side of the bed that day.
Hanger 18 is a guitar masterpiece.
Wow, I've never even heard of the system has failed. I'm glad Dave shared about it in this video.
Very underrated gem of an album several great tracks on it 🤘🏻
Dirt Dart, too cute! First gig on the moon! Love that! Long Live Dave Mustaine!
Dave: "One hour from now, another species of life form will disappear off the face of the planet"
Me who's trying to eat sandwich: "Half a minute from now, another pickle will fall off the face of the sandwich"
Dave is such an amazing dude.
That Steve Jones story had me rolling. “I don’t know a single girl that would want your meat in her mouth” 😂😂
Excellent format, cheers 👏
Would be curious to hear how he ended up with that Facelift record/plaque in the back...
I like how the light on top of Dave makes it look like he has a halo.
Should have played with Alexi Laiho. I think he toured with Children of Bodom...Best Metal Guitarist of his generation. Could do it all: rhythm AND solo
Mustaine speaks, I listen.
