This is what Superman should be imo. The very definition of "Speak softly and carry a big stick". That is the core of Superman. Not Batman or anybody else. The further he gets away from that, the more he loses his identity and impact. He isn't Santa Clause. He's the champion of the opressed.
Superman/Doomsday Hunter/Prey. Darkseid met "The Armageddon Creature" as Doomsday was known 10 000 years ago. Only Dessad teleporting it back to Caladon saved Darkseid. A sequel and origin to Death of Superman and Doomsday.
Darkseid is called a ''New God'' for a reason. He's supposed to be beyond Zeus and the rest. Superman can do this to Darkseid, yet gets humiliated by Zeus. And people think that's valid according to canon. My day of comic books was pre-Crisis; the early '80s and before. Back then, it was pretty much only the Spectre -- when he was an agent of God -- who could humble Superman. And that made sense, that was consistent with almost 50 years of continuity. Ever since Crisis -- and the Byrne reboot -- its just been a yo-yo of whatever sells this week, and whoever's popular.
It was probably going to happen everntually, you can only tell the same(ish) story so many times. Though I agree that doesn't mean you don't remain consistant.
Superman has never gotten humiliated by Zeus as they have never fought in the main continuity and where did you get the idea that Darksied is beyond Zeus and the “rest”?
correct. any form darkseid takes in any universe is not his true form for he exists outside of all the multiverse. kind of similar to jesus being like god on earth

Given it has massive implications for the Christians and their worship, he would have clarified it. The Trinity requires word salad to defend itself. 1 John 4:15 doesn't require word salad, and doesn't paint God out as having multiple personality disorder...
I like Thanos better as a character, but without power ups like the Infinity Stones, Cosmic Cube, etc I think Darkseid is far more powerful, especially "True Form" (and btw, was this comic before the True Form version came out?)
