Solid review! I bought the E340 when Eufy released these a couple of weeks ago. The E340 is feature-rich and very capable-a great way to add an extra layer of security and deterrence to your home security. The only suggestion I have for anyone installing security cameras is to mount them out of reach. A higher mount will also provide a better field of view and a larger illumination pattern for the spotlights. I understand some fixtures are already roughed in, so I would add additional cameras to overlap the surveillance area and fortify your security.
@NaterTater I totally understand! It wasn't a personal criticism; moving a fixture is a ton of work, and I wouldn't have done it either. I was just suggesting if other people find themselves in a similar position, they should overlap the surveillance with other cameras.
Another thing they need to improve on the app is they should make the pan left to right screen transparent because it blocks the bottom camera when you're using it
Nice review Nate. Did you check on how it did when you came from the side when the camera wasn't looking at you how long it took for it to pick you up and get the camera on target?
One thing you should note. I had a problem finding the activity zone. Click on Motion detection, then click the activity zone, click continue and adjust activity zone. Then if you have do it again, use pencil to change and click check mark to save.
I have two questions; 1- during the 24/7 mode, will the light be on all night? Will it record cold or B&W at night? 2- does the camera support SMTP? I want use it in “Home Assistant “ using “SCRYPTED”
1 - those options are user configured, you decided. 2 - i'm not sure, i know it does rstp and i know my brother uses Reolink with home assistant but not sure if he uses Scrypted.
What did you screw the plate of the camera to, i have a 4inch wide hole where my wires are , but only two screw holes that dont line up with any holes on the plate ?
It records in 3k. How are you recording? Like on your phone? Local sd on camera? Home base? Cloud? Different ones have different settings and capabilities.
Eufy tell me that recording is limited to 1080p when recording to Homebase and this is to optimise storage for motion events. What they say doesn’t make much sense as I have 16TB storage on Homebase S380 and motion events is when you need maximum resolution.
Just bought the floodlight but the google assistant integration does not work. I would like to cast the live feed to my tv via chromecast. Did it work for you?
Just curious about the camera during my harsh winter days. Possible the camera motion would be a issue turning if the snow and ice got to it ? winters can be sometimes rough here and where I would install it on my garage gets hit pretty good with wind and snow. your thoughts ? Thanks, Rich
I won't pretend anything is 100% immune to mother nature. In general it should be ok, it's outdoor rated and I'm sure it produces some heat so any snow that sticks would melt unless it's very cold ambient (but then the snow is typical dry and not sticky).
Let me guess, replacing Arlo? That’s what I’m looking at doing after the recent 60% cloud price increase. Great video and awesome wildlife! Do you think this can would work OK if I install it 12-14’ up on my garage? I know eufy says 8’ is best to maximize motion detection but that’s where my current floodlight is. I don’t need to detect all the way down the driveway.
Hello . Had this installed for a month . During the day it’s very very sensitive to every passing car even when I adjusted down sensitivity and set up activity zones . After dark it’s tracking and lights up when motion detected but doesn’t record anything . Can you please help ? I have a ticket to eufy and still waiting
Excellent review! I have a couple other eufy cams and I love them. May be adding this one too based on your feedback, but I don’t have a home base. Besides storage, am I missing out on anything else? I believe with the base it can differentiate between people, but you mentioned that’s not really reliable anyways (can’t set it to alarm if it doesn’t know the person). Any other reason I should also buy the home base? For example, does the home base reduce or extend the range compared to just connecting to your wifi?
The home base does have more AI features like you mention, i also notice its much faster for downloadong clips to your phone. The home base does have its own proprietary and required wireless signal for the cameras. I think in general it could be considered the same range as a single wifi router. In my case i have 9 wifi AP's that cover 4+ acres so my wifi is easily far superior to the homebase signal.
Its pretty good. Nothing is perfect but i'd say it detects a person pretty well. It does a worse job of detecting a specific person (facial recognition) in practice because it does need a clear shot of the face and thats not always available in my cases.
That’s a really bad height to install it it… someone can put their hood up walk up and literally take it off the wall and have your $200 camera in about 5 seconds.. ? This is crazy lol.. do people not understand you can’t have cameras at head level . It makes it super easy to take
There will always be a way to steal and circumvent "security". I was certainly not going to relocate the existing electrical box for the install. Cheaper to replace a camera.
@@XxAtomic646xX a robber or someone up too no good is gonna have their face out there for you to see lol? Yes they recommend around 8ft which this one isnt but as you said it was an existing fixture location and I did not want to move it.

Thank you for this review. I found the long detection trigger range useful, as I have a long drive.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the code. I used your code to get floodlight E340 and E330
Glad I could help! I am sure you will enjoy it.
@@NaterTater I'm surprised Eufy have BOGO 50% off. Alot of saving
Yes fall is a great time to buy!
Glad I'm not the only ones that use my cameras to watch turkey and coyote!
Nice review Nate. Did you check on how it did when you came from the side when the camera wasn't looking at you how long it took for it to pick you up and get the camera on target?
I did. I didnt show video of it doing that to me but the turkey example is really that use case. Works quickly.
The camera tracks the first object it registers, even if a second one comes along😉

good point!
Nate was going to ask, do these flood lights have any sort of dusk to dawn half brightness lighting feature much like a normal motion security light?
Yes, you can adjust the brightness and set it for dusk to dawk or a schedule. That light setting can be different than the motion activated one.
Do you know where can I get the extension wire for outlet plug in?
Thanks
Contact eufy.
Can i also use HomeBase2?
good to know you have coyotes visiting he isn't small either.
Yep, see them and hear them often!

It’s odd that the eufysecurity app lets you choose 3k recording but actually only records in 1080p

Bonjour , je voudrais l'installer à environ 4 mètres de hauteur au 2ème étage, pensez-vous que cela pourrais aller ? Merci 👍
It will work but they recommend more like 2.5m high. I means the tracking and AI might not work as well at 4m but it will still work.

After you add the preset positions, how do you view them? Do you have to go all the way back into the settings just to look at them? Thxs.
You can see them in the live view. Its a little hidden as you have to swipe left on the PT control to see the presets. Then you can click thru them.
