Just went to dealer today with the same noise, the tech said its the high pressure mechanical fuel pump. And the sound is normal, who believes this theory?
Have the same sound. One mechanic tried to say fuel pump. I made them ride around with me. Found the noise. Early symptoms of a bad throw out bearing. covered under the warranty. In the shop now. I'll update.
Subaru replaced the "clutch release bearing" aka throwout bearing. The clutch pedal was super smooth when I got it back, like it was really lubricated. After a couple of weeks it goes back to normal. Also, 4th gear had and has a slight vibration under acceleration. A few owners on these post have had it to. I'm 45000 of 100000 warranty. Probably wait to see if it gets worse. Apparently it's a common thing.
@@jacobk8755 Im under the certified preowned 100k power train and engine warranty. Was yours covered under a warranty and if so would this be the same warranty? My dealer is telling me that the clutch release bearing is not covered under said warranty.
@@D_effective I purchased mine new (17) and I had the option to buy the extended warranty. When I took it in, the invoice was under that. 100 deductible. They didnt do anything or charge me because there was no noise and the tech said it could be the fuel pump but could not duplicate. I drove it for another week recording all of the audio I could when I drove. And i watched a ton of UA-camand came across this video and wanted to share my experience. So i started my car and let it temp up to 190's. Noise sort of went away. If I barely pushed the clutch the pitch would change. Engine rev and secondary noise. I was able to duplicate this in my drive way. Next day I went to the dealership and of course they hear no noise. I had the tech get in the car and I drove around the parking lot in 1st and 2nd. No noise. Pulled back in the garage and i parked and turned off the ac, barely pushed the clutch , no in all the way just a thumbs width, a few times and duplicated the noise. Then I let him listen to the audio i recorded. Then, he said it was clutch bearing and it was covered under drivetrain warranty and not my extended warranty. To be clear, it was the subaru drivetrain 100000 warranty not the paid extended warranty. They said it was an early symptom of bearing failure and they replaced it with a redesigned one for the 18. Since then no noise. Also, no damage to clutch or anything else. Just don't drive it hard till it's fixed.
Have a 17 wrx with same sound. Dealer said it the early symptoms of a bad throw out bearing. Covered under warranty. In the shop right now. Will update.
Mykhaylo & Sofia Hroshko Hello, I have the exact same thing on my wrx, I removed the intercooler and put high temp bearing grease where the fork meets the cylinder. I also removed the boot at the base of the clutch fork and cleaned and rubbed grease inside all over. I still hear the noise. Did I do something wrong? Does the grease take time to work in? Thank you so much.

Mykhaylo & Sofia Hroshko Thank you for the quick reply! Super helpful. By chance could you tell me the exact length of spring you got? Thanks again!
