Just in time for the Halo 2 Server revival on Insignia!
Hyperkin is releasing the s type wireless controller soon I think.
@@banditkeithkingofduelmonsters If it has memory card/communicator support, I’m all for it!
I got two of these controllers. One has sluggish responsiveness, other one is fine. Looks like their quality is still spotty.
Yeah, I got one too, and the joysticks have deadzones...
Wireless logitech controllers are really common on the original xbox. They are easily the best wireless controllers I've used and the batteries will last you 6 months to a year with heavy play.
I want to get one, but I'm trying to find a bargain on one in great condition with the wireless receiver, a lot of eBay sellers only sell the controller and don't have the receiver, I check their other items, they don't have it.
What Logitech controllers specifically? Would you possibly have a link to one?
PSA: Analogs don't do diagonals very well, in any shooter for example, you can look any direction, lets say left for the example. With the stick pushed left, you can move the stick up or down 30 degrees and there will be no change in game. The camera will stay perfectly straight the whole time. And the dpad has a faulty section in the membrane for the left button. They sent me a replacement and it had the exact same issue
A wireless OG Xbox controller, very good to see. Thanks for showing this off as always Adam.
Hey Adam it was nice meeting you today at the Game On Expo. Thank you for all your help throughout the years 🤘
Hey Chris, thanks for coming by!
@@AdamKoralik absolutely
me personally have found one use for those optional memory cards: to backup your saves. not having those slots on these controllers isn’t a huge deal because I still got the original wired controllers at the end of the day. I will definitely have to check these out for they’re the only wireless controllers I’ve seen on the market that are rechargeable
Only thing I ever used memory cards for back in the day was to Put my PSO character on and play split screen at my friend's house.
Thanks for the review. I am definitely going to pick one up.
Can’t wait to get mine. Great video Adam!
Thanks for the review! I’ve only tried two games with it so far, both racing games. It seemed fine for those but I’ll keep testing. It does sound like it needs a firmware update and that is coming. Looking forward to playing more game types with it!
They need to release the Firmware Fix like yesterday. It is very slow to respond and very sluggish feeling. But I'm glad they can tune it in said firmware updates, at least.
Really? :(
@@DuckAlertBeats its fixable though. Their older ones you couldn't adjust the firmware. Its not that its not responsive in it's signal, just the sensitivity of the joysticks is not well tuned in the slightest. But they can change that, its hall effect :D.
The firmware update finally got release. But it didn't fully fix the problem. I still noticed this issue with the joysticks when playing Halo 1 / 2 on PC
Those Logitech controllers for PS2 & Xbox were spectacularly good. The analog sticks on third party controllers from that era were notoriously inaccurate, with really huge dead zones. That wasn’t the case with Logitech stuff, which supported rumble and lasted forever on two AA batteries. They released TWO wireless versions for Xbox, they both looked identical but the latter one did not have vibration and was therefore very light.
I wouldnt recommend this controller for people that are interested in using it to play Halo 2 through insignia. the right joystick settings are really off so it really makes FPS games not worth using this controller for
I bought one for my n64 and couldn’t aim with it. Really struggled with goldeneye for example.
Keep Dreaming...?
Seriously though, those are nice looking controllers, and I can see them being popular since a lot of people didn't like the Duke for the OG Xbox when it launched let alone in the modern day.
This is great! This means every 6th gen console has a wireless controller. 😁 I'm sure the halo purist will put this controller to the test, but for casual use this is a fantastic option.
The Logitech Cordless is pretty good. They were excessively expensive at the time at 150€ new (The Xbox cost 300€ at that point). I have one and it's my go to controller. The memory cards work with that one since the dongle came with a memory card slot.
It’s a god send that those wave bird and Logitech Xbox controllers are using AA batteries. If they weren’t those controllers would have been dead right now because good luck finding a replacement lithium pack. It’s also why I applaud Microsoft for giving you an option to use AA batteries in their controllers.
I'm glad I bought this controller because I have bought used original controllers that eventually fell apart, the rubber on the thumb sticks came off. I hope retro fighters will make more with different colors 😅
thought you were the completionist, subscribed
My refurbished og Xbox disc drive died. Damn you Thompson. If I get another drive up and running this looks interesting.
Man the Thomson disc drives are so janky. Definitely the ones to avoid. It's a shame it isn't easier to get replacement disc drives on their own too easily
@KatsuyaTheFuuk I found a site that sells just drives but it looked suspicious. There's a few on ebay. Phillips and Samsung. Hate its not working. Love og xbox. Instead of wireless controllers folks need to make replacement drives for older disc consoles!
I really need one of those
I need to hook up my Xbox and pull out some games 😀
Gotta get them both so mega cool 😎
Those are really cool Xbox controllers 👍🏻
I've been waiting for this forever and the finally make it when my job won't give me any hours so i'm broke great.
I got one of the wireless mad cats OG Xbox controllers and it’s awesome… dude was going to throw out his Xbox and the controller and I said stop 🛑 I will come get it from you … never understood the idea of throwing out technology.
Nice
I hope they end up doing the blue one. I don't like buying black controllers if I can avoid it, and I want two different colours for multiplayer. The controller does have some issues from my experience, mainly face button pressure discrepancies when compared to the original and also analogue movement does not go as far as it should diagonally. All that said though, Retro Fighters is fixing these issues if I'm not mistaken and I think it's a pretty excellent controller otherwise.
Its a great controller. I dont use it for insignia on account of lacking accessory ports.
If you get this apply the firmware update its a massive improvement also if you lose your USB Dongle you can connect the xbox dongle via type C and play as usual
The firmware update still doesn't quite fix the issue. The joysticks are still a bit sluggish.
i like their controllers i have the retro fighter ps2 controller that's awesome they have it for the Xbox. That might be a must buy just for the hall effect sticks.
Actually considering this controller, for insignia and PC :) will be perfect for me. hall effect joysticks, if you know you know!
I assume there's no way to use a headset with this controller, which with the timing would be kind of a shame. Halo 2 is now back online as of yesterday with Insignia, so being able to use a headset on a more modern controller would really help for some people I'm sure
It would be pretty neat if Microsoft would allow use of it on Xbox One / Series X|S via the USB dongle.
I had a wireless Madcatz controller in Canada, but anything wireless always hates me. Xbox I started out wireless, then I would always just end up keeping them plugged in because it wasn't easy for me to impulsively get new batteries. What tends to happen is. Gaming session > Battery dead > Get wire > Forget about it.
Was interested in this, but I heard it loses pressure sensitive buttons when using on the PC.
Might still get one for my Xbox, but, emulation is my primary use-case for all these modern controllers.
sweet
My biggest thing is the rumble/vibration. How is that in comparison to the original wired controllers? Is it as strong? Thanks in advance
I didn't personally notice any significant difference, but I admit I didn't do a deep dive comparison on that aspect.
Wow it looks better than the Duke controller 💯🎮
Are the black and white buttons functional? Heard reports that they weren't
Sure seem to be.
Ohhhh the original XboX not the DRMbox one, cool👍
Hey Adam, there is a flashcard for the 3ds after all I found one and it works.
Oh?
It’s called the stargate flashcard. It’s from China. It was $70 and so far it works great and it’s the most friendly user flashcard I ever used.
Huh, neat!
Adam ever looked into the analogue pocket?
I've heard of it, but I don't have one.
I would like one but they are very expensive.
Adam rules Dreamcast
In your opinion does it have good vibration or just meh?
It seemed fine, neither impressive nor invasive.
That my have USB support becuase PSO had an USB apbtuer that goes in the X-Box contorters mem shot for USB Keybords as part of it's online chat option. Otter games may also support it but PSO is the only one I konw of.
With how long the Xbox controller cables are I don't see the need for wireless! Haha
Will this work on an unmodded og xbox?
Of course.
I love the s controller 🤷🏻♂️
Not really a fan wireless controllers
First
If it's not the Duke it's not OG imho
Just get an OGX360 and play with new Xbox controllers (and others) via an 8bitdo...everything works perfectly including vibration.
