      The EGR is intended to reduce the amount of fresh air in the inlet so that NOx is reduced when peak power isn’t demanded. Pumping losses due to the air filter and anything else are avoided. From that point of view it works. The EGR cooler makes the charge air at the inlet valve more dense, leading to higher effective compression with low oxygen, avoiding a lean burn condition. From that point it works.
      When the EGR works it’s good for the driver. When it doesn’t and the coolant ends up in the exhaust instead of the radiator, that is a reliability problem not a design problem

    Early 3.0 tdv6 end up with alot of oil in the intake, Had a couple try and run on 😳 be careful revving them up. They revised the oil return on the o/s secondary turbo, can retrofit it as a kit. Also if you watch live data on the later ones they activate the turbo (via tsov) if you leave it idling for 3 minutes to help clear oil build up! Remove the compressor switch over valve csov and drain the intercooler get a fair bit out. Work at a Land rover specialist for my sins

      Any awareness would be good, the reason pretty much no cars have a indicator of when theyre regenerating is because the average driver would just be bringing it back to the dealer every time the warning came on, so instead the car just tries to do it at random and usually doesnt finish, resulting in all the problems we face.

    Having fun with my SDV6 at mo, RESTRICTED PERFORMANCE 😂 only code I get is P006A-00 pending MAP, mass or volume air flow correlation. Issues being, some one didn't put a MAF back in carefully & the Oring to air filter was trapped badly, also the air bix housing joint going into the throttle body unit was crooked, part of the moulding was hitting a pipe forcing it out, so removed a plastic moulded fin that was catching the pipe, then the MAP sensor was some what grubby so tried cleaning it but still get the same code, whether under throttle, cruising downhill or just slowly driving. Sometimes it's RP every 2miles, sometimes not for 20-50miles. Thinking of changing the MAP sensor or the whole throttle body. Replaced the Oring in the MAF & cleaned those aswell. Bit of head scratching at mo. 😁

    Inputting DPF replacement without replacing the dpf created massive problems in the future and is just a lazy way to clear the fault code. Why not do a dynamic regeneration, and spray some crap directly into dpf, without the car (knowing about) regenerating anything? The diagnostic tool obviously shows you by remaining dpf volume that you didn’t clean anything from the dpf. So now the dpf is full and the car thinks it’s a brand new one. Now you need to actually replace the dpf in order to the actual values to match up with the computer. Congrats, you just created a multi-thousant £ problem.

    • @rokkorber375
      @rokkorber375 4 місяці тому

      Not true. After 5 minutes of measuring differential pressure on DPF, the soot mass and %of DPF blockage will be updated. Not a single thing goes wrong when you tell the car there is a new DPF inside. It's only risky if it's completely blocked and you tell it's a new one. You could damage the engine in those 5 minutes when the car is not in limp mode.
