    The blue on Renee is everything; it's your colour girl! Makes the melanin pop!

    Truths! I was speaking to a woman with terminal cancer this week. Whilst she was having chemo, it was her female friends coming to pick up her children to take them to school, not the children's father... This isn't to bash him (new relationship, new baby) but rather to lift up those female friends as a shining beacon.
    I can think of soooooo many times where, had it not be for the love and support of a Sister, where would I be? Honestly, just based on the many eggs in many baskets analogy, it's even a more logical investment of time and energy than a romantic relationship that has a 50% chance of survival.

    I would say to this person dilemma they should read the gary champan book on love languages, it really made it clear how love languages are more a needs than a perefence that can be overlooked, i think both couples should read it, it will help them understand each other.

    Come for everyone, edges. SNATCH EM. Many of us don't want to admit we've become the villain, and we have a lot of internalized misogyny and giving off vibes that we're unsafe to be in community with. I'm just saying.....

      Right! It can be difficult to identify it in ourselves, but so important if we want to build authentic community!

      @BriaBarrows Рік тому +2

      Painting yourself as the villain when you are healing is not helpful. I think it’s important to be authentic with yourself about unhealthy traits for yourself and others, but being mean to yourself as you heal is not helpful. I find we judge each other a lot as women and it doesn’t help. Hold yourself and others accountable to growth, but be kind to yourself as well

      @Bria Barrows YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. My bad, sis. I was just trying to be funny. But you're right, and that's even a reminder to myself. ^^^^ listen this lady up top.

    It’s definitely hard when your experiences haven’t been to your liking because you then become distrustful. It’s hard

    Thank you ladies for this discussion, y’all always talking about that elephant in the room that needs to be addressed 😩🙌🏾🙏🏾 tbh personally, I’ve never had a positive sisterhood group in my life…ever. Always been criticized by the women in my life and made to feel dumb or small for every decision I’ve ever made… I’m not saying I need the “yes men” friends that agree with my opinions or choices, but I’ve never been given grace or love when given criticism or advice. I’ve had friends try to physically hurt me, friends betray me, cut me off … idk. I try to open up to women and be the best version of myself but I can’t lie, Ive been burned wayyy too many times to not feel jaded and scared to be treated the same… so I isolate myself. Maybe I just haven’t found the right group of girl friends yet … I’ll just keep praying about it , I know one day God will place me with my girl tribe 🙏🏾🤍

      You are not alone. And we need likeminded women around us because iron sharpens iron. I find also in our community that because we’ve experienced trauma, we would benefit greatly from more conversations like this.

    This was such an eye opening conversation..being one of those girls with a toxic relationship with my mom...it's really hard trusting other women tbh...but I do love sisterhood from a far and would love that for me...i just don't want to get hurt..how do I get past my mom hurt and actually give female friendships a chance....
    On the point of being the same person you detest...It didn't occur to me that I might as well end up being the toxic mom and God knows I wouldn't wish that on anyone especially not my daughter...where do I really start...I could use some help..
    Thanks😚

    so grateful that this topic was discussed and to be honest all that was said is facts. its only women who have been hut by fellow women who push this narrative and always bash female friendship and honestly its so sad, because i feel like they need to heal first and find genuine people who they connect with

    It’s so true. Find LIKE minded women. Not judging anyone. But you should open your mind to friendships that can take you higher.

    I am neither from America nor Europe but this issue has overshadowed my life and relationships. I never had the motto of having 'only male friends' or being tomboy but life has pushed me in that direction every once in a while. Too much drama with women is right for sure but there is no one answer to that. Most men can't befriend a woman but the ones that can would be able to share a new perspective with you. Most women can't befriend you as a woman either. Life is just not that generous.

    In my experience it is the women in your life who come through when you need them. Look at patience in hospitals, women relatives feeding their men and women in their lives. I always pity women who see other women as enemies. More often than not....they are the problem.
