ok I came here for a Eartha interview.. what I did not expect was AN INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE WOW and at 69!!!! She was a treasure! I pray to be as talented at that age.
Queen Ertha Kitt is so absolutely beautiful and wonderful!! Transparent and purely honest and real!!!! Salute the Queen of peeeeeeeerrrrection🐈⬛✨✨Ertha Kitt👑
She was a ball of fire, this one! Like most people of my generation, my first exposure to her was through her incredible voice acting as Yzma in 'The Emperor's New Groove.' But as I familiarized myself with her work the older I got, the more I realized what an absolute treasure she was. God rest this woman, though I know He's having a grand old time with her entertaining everyone in Heaven!
Somehow I stumbled upon video clips of Eartha Kitt and I absolutely love her! Such an amazing talent with a beautiful personality. There will never be another like her.
She seems ADORABLE. I wonder if she had an unpleasent or "unapproachable" side to her persona. I just LOVE her personality, charm and charisma. She was definitely 1 in a trillion.
She was so multi talented so smart this must have been a amazing time for her 1997 she was so happy love the hair and her attitude we still all miss ya & will never forget you miss kitt x
Thank you for uploading this I couldn't remember which interview it was that she discussed doing tongue twisters and elocution...now I found it thanks to you.
She said in an interview that is also on this channel, from 1998 on Good Morning America, that she just recently found out that her birthday was actually the 16th, not the 26th as she had believed for so long. She said that when she was visiting a college, the students had been able to locate her birth certificate and it had the correct date. This interview was before she found that out
I was just about to say what Darreyl said. It’s funny, my grandmother was celebrating the wrong birthday as well. My grandmother said she was born in a cotton field , which means the Midwife had to fill the paperwork out, which means it could be wrong or conflicting.
Love her!...but what is this accent Eartha has?! I have never heard any other American speak like her?! In this interview, is she basically admitting she puts this accent on?
Kind of an old Hollywood accent that was heard more often then....now especially after The Lion King, entertainers speak a more natural/colloquial way. Before then even cartoons spoke ina very different way, watch the old Snow White, she spoke so formally like Ms. Kitt.
The transatlantic accent was the go-to in old Hollywood around the time or just before Eartha hit the scene. She was from the south and absolutely would have had to put on an accent to make it in the business. She also spent a large portion of her career performing in Europe which would have slightly modified some sounds as well, I'd guess.
plenty more than Barbara & Donna...but I agree both of them are fantastic...there's also Diana Ross, Gladys Knight, Dionne Warwick, Shirley Bassey, Nancy Wilson, to name a few more...
@@Dion_Mustard lets not forger Josephine Baker, Edith Piaf, Maria Callas, Mina Mazzini, Dalida, Sade, Dinah Washington, Ella Fritzgerald, Billy Holliday, Grace Slick, Phyllis Hyman, Annita Baker, and now Florence Welsch, Adele who are left as one talented and so many to mention who were and always be a good contribution to music
It's an act. This is a persona which she makes sure to laugh at at the end so the clueless don't come for her, in more ways than one. In real life she was more solitary and contemplative as well as a fearless activist who didn't suffer fools even at the White House much less play coy/charming to politicians who black listed her in return.
Rest in Heaven my South Carolina friend.
This video deserves a billion likes.
Eartha would have been 95 today. R.I.P to a one of a kind icon
Ms. Eartha was "old-Hollywood" and an original, CLASSIC! Most of her kind are now (unfortunately) gone now!

What a beautiful talented woman.... But why would she say tat she’s turning 69 years old in Jan 26 when her birthday is on Jan 17th ? 🤷🏻♀️

I think the character Hannibal Lecter speaks like this, I love it.
