So nice to talk to someone that is not so "defensive" and explains the practice and the parochial aspects of astrology along with the astronomical facts in a so clear and humane way! It is very good to have you Vic!
This is the most important video regarding astrology in the whole utube. I , myself personally follow Vic Sir, and took his course on Nakhastra. My Life got changed after I converted my chart in Tropical. I am a proud Tropical follower and successful in prediction. Thank you 🙏🙏
This is one of my favorite episodes. I have already binge watching Vic diCara's channel before I discovered this episode and it's very satisfying to see both of my favorite astrologer in one video.
Do you both have any evidence that Greeks knew anything or contributed anything to Astrology or Astronomy. Greeks were really sucky in Mathematics. Even their calendars sucked until 16th Century. The Attic Roman Numeral system cannot be used to do the Astronomical Math. Almagest is a Persian translated to Greek text.
I got a reading by Vic Di Cara and I went down a rabbit hole/ and let me tell you…. It’s by far a whole lot accurate than just one or the other. I love this so much and I wish I could thank Vic Dicara personally.
Interestingly my ancestors (Maori) started the year in around June -linked to the rising of Mataariki (Pleiades). Signals the beginning of Tamanui Te Ra’s return. Another awesome episode 🙏
I 100% believe in Vic's explanation and approach. My life map proves that his method is the accurate one. As do the natal charts of my loved ones. The problem seems to be that Vedic astrologers take offense to the approach without realizing the deep respect some of us have for the tradition. It seems to me that the techniques that are astoundingly powerful in Vedic. The signs themselves are, for me and those close to me, absolutely incorrect. Astrology is potential, it is feeling and it is manifestation in real time. I feel like my Western signs, I am achieving the potential as determined by my Western signs and I have seen them manifest just as Vedic techniques indicate they should.
Bravo Vic! Your supporters are here! Divine energies are with you...Because u r d real thi g (blessing) to earth. Your conscious is so pure - no matter u may be wrong in one or two things...truth is in the intent! (Which is a rare gem)
Great interview, guys. Really enjoyed it. I love the Sanskrit, the logic and the academic knowledge that Vic has and so easily conveys. A wealth of information. Thanks Chris for the interview and to you both for your time.
Vic is awesome! I LOVE what he says about proper intellectual debate. I studied at Kepler College where they taught us to do charts by hand so we learned the fundamentals. I wish more astrologers would practice this before jumping straight to the software programs (which are amazing but not the best starting point for real understanding in my opinion). Also, Dennis Harness was one of my teachers at Kepler love him too, he's a beautiful soul and I was lucky to attend his conference in Sedona a few years back.
This Einstein quote comes to mind: "Great spirits have always encountered persecution from mediocre minds." I want to study astrology. I was debating on which system to study. Further complicating this was my discovery that there is such a thing as a Vedic/Tropical astrologer, which wondering why, lead me to this podcast. Trying to find honest arguments for one system over the other is extremely difficult for the very reason, as mentioned here, that it has become politicized. No one wants to be wrong. True scientific investigation, however, considers all the possibilities. It has been said that the illiterate are those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn. I suppose I'll have to study all possible systems to form an opinion of my own. I am very grateful to the Astrology Podcast and kudos to Vic Dicara for his courageously open minded approach to the study of astrology!
In the astrological community there are so few cogent and critical and respectful thinkers like you, Chris; so informative to see how you find weak/interesting places to push. Great questions!
Time = upward= highest point = most masculine = sunsign = Tropical fixed zodiac as the sunsign is considered in tropical , is what I got from your explanation and then across = space = position of constellations (stars) obviously each with different degrees + moon which is considered in Vedic = feminine in the cosmos and with this perspective a Vedic chart can be fixed into a Tropical zodiac chart . 12 zodiac signs gives foundation but with the different degrees of each constellation and movement of the planets gives a unique and flexible reading which can be a lot more on point than one or the other. Thankyou for sharing. ✨ The cross I got from the Southern cross and an Andean belief with upward meaning time and across meaning space ✨ Just my little spin on what made sense for me on abit of what was mentioned. Cheers
Interestingly, Ernst Wilhelm's episode is not on UA-cam, i wonder why. Its number #111, available on the website on audio version, listening to it right now!
Vic your humbleness will win over all narcissist ego-driven commercial minded fools in your community. Thanks to youtube revolution that has brought such gems like vic to general audience. When u steal the show and become too famous than people preaching more than 10 years - u clearly connected in the right note with souls on earth. U deserve the recognition! Ur success is ur currency to your service. More power to u! Thank God vic your mercury is harsh with being so sharp - needed to survive. I can see whole chart is important for success on this planet. U nailed it Vic! Thanks to the host for the ending, didn't like up until the end- as he was so skeptical until he smiled lightly towards the end when vic's mercury gave a right whip to intellectually curious people.
Perhaps we should stop to look at it from the point that one system is wrong and the other correct. From tradition, scriptures, and logic, we see that both were used. Then the question is, when to use which? Approaching it from the angle of positional astronomy, it seems that both must have been used complementary: the tropical for declination (as the tropical is about declination by definition), and the sidereal for longitude.
@SuryaTratak That's sounds like a useful demarcator. Would you mind sharing your thoughts further on it? Eg, what exactly do you mean by declination and longitudinal in terms of what each considers to be in it's wheelhouse?
Everything is always influencing everything else....everything is always in motion, changing, evolving. As above, so below. The science of astrology must continue to evolve so that we humans can use its insights to also evolve. To me it all goes back to the question of why people might consult with a professional astrologer to begin with. If they are looking for a deeper understanding to have a more fullfilling life then the science must be applied in ways that are conducive to this. If the calculations are incorrect, then we cant really hellp people, can we?
Maybe a stupid question, but in tropical astrology is it just the sun that is tied to a season in the natal chart, or are ALL the planets in a seasonal rather than zodiacal placement? For example, I understand that if my sun is in "Scorpio" that really just means that I was born in the Fall season. But if my Saturn is in Virgo, does that means that Saturn was actually in the literal constellation of Virgo when I was born?
The zodiac doesn’t always align with the actual constellations because it is established based on the movement between the sun and the moon over the course of a year.
I have often wondered about this too because only the Sun has a direct relationship to the seasons (wherever you are on the planet, albeit markedly reversed in the Temperate Zones of the Northern and Southern Hemispheres). The Moon does have a lesser relationship to seasons too because it has the most reflected sunlight, compared to the other 'wanderers' which have little relationship to earth seasons. If your Saturn is in VIrgo, it could be in the Tropical or Sidereal system, depending on which one you prefer to use.
@@dhavalpathak the classic texts (Surya Siddhanta etc.) all define the zodiac as tropical - created by the movement of the Sun over the course of the year
Just occurred to me the relationship between fix, mutable and cardinal to the trinity Vishnu, Shiva, and Brahma. Would that make any sense for you there?
Hey, 1:00:35 A good way to put it is one cannot have an effect without the cause. In these times, many have a "me vs you" mentality, and we separate the cause from the effect when we dismiss of or don't like the original cause. So, a new one is created and the original one is demonized. Many will see and understand this, and many will have cognitive dissonance.

Thanks for this engaging video. I love this channel, just discovered it. I love personalities like his even tho as he rightfully points out it should not matter. But when someone is odd man out, it matters.
The way I see it is Sidereal is in 12 sins because of the moon , you have 12 moons in a year which creates a energy defining the lengths of the sins so doesn't mater about the sins being uneven the energy of the months connecting into the year creates the sins , The moon is the mind the mind reflects our existence the reflection defines the sins and our existence , Sidereal is all about the moon the moon is trippy , Tropical revolves around the sun eg the seasons , My teacher heart defouw said they did use Tropical some times in India with powerful people , the sun is like moden man ego straight to the point revolving around your self , moon is trippy working on reflective levels

Ryan Kurczak, Ernst Wilhelm and Vic diCara are like a Trinity for me. I've learned so much from them as much as I've learned from this channel.

Have you read Platos Aplology? Socrates was accused of impiety for doing astronomy, and during his trial he denied he was Anaxagoras.

He must disclose those facts. He should have gone to K N Rao for that.

No - those designations refer to of the sun’s transfo condition and how it changes throughout the year 🙏🏻
Is sayana another term for tropical astrology?
No - Ayana is the movement of the Sun North or South of the equator towards the Tropic of Cancer or the Tropic of Capricorn
