Seems obvious that Ridgid licenses the design. Home Depot sells the Ridgid system and Lowe's sells the Spin Doctors. Mystery solved! Love these systems. Thanks for sharing.
Landberg Tile-Handyman-DIY I'm not 100% sure when you did this video, but the price of spin doctor has been decreased due to the contract with Lowe's. The patent has not been sold, and we intend to enforce it with everything we have. I know that sometimes it's easier to just go to the orange box, but please try to remember this system was designed by a small business with people that still sling mud... not just do paperwork! ;)
Steve Sprung Any update on this?? I’ve been trying to buy it at every Lowe’s around me but I’ve only found 2 that have had them in stock, and very little stock at that.
Thank you for all your videos. I have learned so much and recently tiled my first bathroom! I'm wondering if you can help me troubleshoot something that happened with the Rigid levelers. When I went to remove them, about 50% didn't break off clean. Some of that is because I realized too late that I was hitting them from the wrong angle, but for the rest, I'm unsure what happened. The only thought I had is maybe I waited too long to remove them? So my question is, how long should I wait before I remove the RIGID caps? Does it matter if I do it the next day vs. a week later? Thank you!
Yeah, what a fantastic idea. I really hope some company brings that invention to Portugal soon. So, greetings from the country where Madonna decided to live last year. ;)
Im currently using spin doctor 1/8 on a 6x24 plank tile and it seems like the piece you slip under the tile raises it up too much and breaks the bond😐😐 im doing 900 sq ft wood look porcelain floor tile.says use 1/4 trowel but im using 1/2 so it will butt up level with other rooms👍 ok put a bit more on when i back butter👍 seems im getting 90% coverage😁 id pay more for a thinner base piece though😁😁😁😁
Not a good system for natural stone such as marble. It will mark the tile surface as you tighten them together. Surprisingly the clips and wedges system don’t mark stone so beware of its uses and limitations
+apex yes, looks like Spin Doctor gave permission or collected a check to allow the rebrand. I've used spin doctor on many projects, but prefer RLS or Levtech.
@@apex007 sorry for the super late reply! There was no license agreement between us and any other company for this design. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery!
I was thinking of using these in a bathroom. My only concern is after knocking off the spindal, there is a plastic piece remaining behind the tile. I've seen another video saying that leaving spacers inside joints can effect the job of the grout in keeping it waterproof. Grout is supposedly meant to fill out all the joints completely, keeping it impervious to water getting through. So might give these a miss.
Hi Dan, if you clear out the mortar from the edge of the tile before inserting your clip/spacer, then the likelihood of plastic remaining is low. Also, leaving spacers inside joints do not effect grout joints. Keep in mind, grout is NOT waterproof. I would HIGHLY recommend a leveling system. I have around 20 videos on leveling systems, you may want to check them out. 👊
@@LandbergTileTV Thanks for the advice, I'm new to tiling so I've seen a few conflicting techniques on UA-cam. Just 1 more question if you don't mind. What size spacers would you recommend for bathroom wall tiles or is it just a matter of personal preference? The length of my tiles are 598mm and width are 298mm.
Ive used hundreds of these and 99.9 percent break off cleanly below the underside of the tile where the stem is perforated. Keep the stems to use as additional spacers or to clean thinset from between tile as you are setting. Also the new updated version has an area for your thumb to help apply force. This original style will make your thumb sore after a few hours. Its kinda sharp.
I notice the GOBOARD...I'm using GOBOARD on a small bathroom remodel. My subfloor is plank, and therefore I didn't thinset it down, just screwed it to the subfloor. I also used it for the walls. The stuff is really great to work with, but this is sort of its maiden voyage for me. Do you have enough experience with it to let me know if this is gonna cause problems down the road...Thanks.
We love GoBoard and have used it for more than 60 showers without a single call-back. John Mansville (a giant company in insulation/roofing/waterproofing) makes it and that company will not mess around with anything that may fail. As long as you waterproof all seams and penetrations, you will not have any waterproofing problems! Here is one of my GoBoard videos you can check out: ua-cam.com/users/edit?o=U&video_id=IWOgL9qGUzo
No. These are for large format (16in+) tiles. Those tiles have a bow to them and these help keep the edges on plane, in addition to using the correct size trowel notch for the tile. Large tile require larger notch trowels to have the proper amount of thinset coverage.
Just tried to use these things for the first time, and THEY ARE STUPID. They don't break off like they should, we had this plastic sticking up in the grout joints so we had to go back and cut it out with a dremel, and the end result is you end up with crooked corner joints anyway because you screwed a thing on there & you can't see if your four corners are meeting evenly. don't buy these things, don't use them, they are garbage! do it the old-fashioned way. UNNECCESSARY waste of money

Thanks for watching! 👊
I was set on the Levtec/Raimondi type but this is like 1/3 the price and looks just as good! Think I just changed my mind, thank you!
$30 or $52...
Same system, same result...
Hmmmmmmm, choices choices...what shall I do ???
You know you like that CaseyNeistat wannabe marker clip! I watch him regularly too you know.. =)
and yes, same ol' type of system. Sold the patent maybe?
Yes I caught that..As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery :-)

They are cool, but really expensive
Is the thread pitch the same on both bases? Can you interchange caps and bases? Thanks.
Yes, they are both compatible. Thx!
Does the 1/8 base from spin doctor work for the ridgid level max cap?
Yes, I believe so
Of course, Home depot discontinued this system. Will the spinners work interchangeably with the spin doctors?

You can purchase clear protection plate from RTC Russo Trading Company 👊
landberg Tile TV so that’s another expense in order to use the product. Three part product is a waste of fitting time. That’s obvious.
NICE!
Thank you sir!
Hi landberg, what do you think about goboard
We have installed GoBoard on about 50 showers...we like it, but now we are using Schluter 👊
Thank you for helping What others leveling system you suggest besides tlock thank you
so which is BETTER ??????????? I must have blinked.
They are both the same, it all comes down to price
are they interchangeable with the Spin doctor caps?
Where did you find these?
+apex home depot online.
Interesting. Looks like a rebranding or licensing deal from spin doctor. Did you use spin doctors previously? Is that the leveling system you prefer?
+apex yes, looks like Spin Doctor gave permission or collected a check to allow the rebrand. I've used spin doctor on many projects, but prefer RLS or Levtech.
Why RLS or Levtech over Spin Dr.?

We always prefer, and install 99% of our tile at a 1/16 inch grout line. Less maintenance and looks good. I would highly recommend PRISM grout.

How would I best use this on hexagon tiles
In one of your video's, didn't you say that it is not good system?!
Only that a wedge system is better in my opinion.

Can you pick what grout size you want or are you limited to the thickness of the piece?
They offer 1/8 and 1/16 joints for spacing
How do you remove a post that didn’t break cleanly upon being kicked off??
Utility knife to cut it out, super simple
Is it necessary to use a leveling system with 20x20 cm (8"x8") square wall mounted tiles?
No. These are for large format (16in+) tiles. Those tiles have a bow to them and these help keep the edges on plane, in addition to using the correct size trowel notch for the tile. Large tile require larger notch trowels to have the proper amount of thinset coverage.
I used this system for setting tiles in a shower...worked perfectly! I sold the excess pieces of the system on Craigslist
That's awesome!

Could you use the Spin Doctor clear view shield with Ridgid?
Yes, it works for Ridgid also.
im tile setter for last 12 years i have to say this spin garbage never give you good result raimondi type is the best dont spend your money and time
