With just 8,784 original miles, this 1996 Caprice Classic is the equivalent of an Impala SS, but much more unusual.
Ordered new by an 86 year old lady and maintained until her recent death at age 102, this car carries all of the important options, including the 5.7-liter V8. Apparently she wanted an Impala SS, but didn't want bucket seats and a console, so she scanned the order form and built her own version.
As with all the low-mileage cars RK Motors Charlotte features, the highest praise we can give this one is that it is as-new in virtually every way. When we talk about restorations, they are inevitably better than new in every way, but original cars are special. There's no bodywork required, no fresh paint on any of the panels, and everything fits the way it did when the guys at the factory put it together. The paint is amazingly nice, and white looks pretty darned good on this big cars body contrasting nicely with the black window treatments and stainless steel grille.
The Caprice Classic was available with a V6, but the top motor was the Corvette-derived 5.7 liter LT1, which, in this application made 260 horsepower. One look under the hood is all you'll need to be convinced that this is a low-mileage original car. All the original equipment is intact, including the engine cover up top, which is often the first thing unscrupulous mechanics toss while doing maintenance work. The bottles for the radiator and windshield washer fluid (which are HUGE, by the way) are still clear and white, not yellowed and discolored by age and heat. The belts, hoses, plugs and wires are most likely still the original equipment. There's simply nothing more reliable than a small block Chevy, and these LT1s routinely last longer than 250,000 miles before needing major service.
The transmission is GM's rugged and dependable 4L60E 4-speed automatic, and it works perfectly. Out back a set of 2.93 gears on a limited slip differential help the Caprice deliver on its EPA estimated 26 MPG on the highway and make it a highly relaxed cruiser. Like the engine bay, everything is original and in remarkably good condition, from the floors and frame, to the suspension and brakes, which all feel like brand new. The original exhaust system has no leaks and has a healthy, albeit subdued; rumble that suggests some pretty serious blasting powder is available under the hood. This car does carry the optional $550 Sport Suspension, which upgraded the standard Caprice to Impala SS specifications for a little more precision on the road. The car currently wears aftermarket aluminum five spoke wheels that feature gunmetal gray paint, machined aluminum lips and 235/70/15 BF Goodrich Long Trail radials. However, if you're a stickler for authenticity, the cars original aluminum alloy turbine wheels that came standard with the Special Value Caprice Sedan Package 3 are included with the sale.
The main reason this car is a Caprice Classic and not an Impala SS is inside, where the original owner insisted on a leather-lined bench instead of the Impalas standard buckets. Nicely preserved and showing hardly any wear at all, this Caprices interior is a plush environment that has legroom galore. If you're the sort of guy who complains about new cars being too small, well, here's your ride. And all the power goodies are included, like power windows, locks, seats, as well as A/C and a moderately good factory stereo system. The gauges are a combination of analog and digital instruments that were cool in the 90s and still function well today. Wood trim is reasonably realistic looking, and covers parts of the dash and door panels to give the Caprice an upscale feel. This was, after all, Chevy's top-of-the-line sedan. In back, there's enough room for the starting front line of an NBA team to get comfortable, and it doesn't look like anyone has ever spent any time back there; it's new in every way.
With all the hardware that makes an Impala SS so cool, plus the updated quarter panels and windows that got rid of the odd Caprice styling, this essentially new 1996 Caprice Classic a slam-dunk! - Авто та транспорт
This here is a classic ya heard me
Beautiful example. IF i had the money i would take it with them original rims. Simply superb.
There is a 2nd "C" in Caprice...otherwise you're saying "Capri".
That said, what a beauty.
this car is freakin beautiful...i currently own 2 out of the 3 1996 caprice classics...i have both the 96' 4.3l V8 in burgudy and the 5.1 V8 in black...a white 5.7 V8 is what ive been looking for...unfortunately they are almost always junk when you see them... the 5.7 is usually fitted up with police crap mirror/spotlight and sticker marks as well as dents and crap paint jobs...this car is a real find
awesome car.
BAD ASS CAPRICE!👌🏼
I have a 4.3 its 100% V8
My chevy caprice,is in excellent running condition.just make all maintenance,& good ⛽ best a the rest from years past, bring them back GM!
My caprice is 1996.wiith v 8 Corvette engine. I have alot of offers for it.even though it has some body work needs..hss 106500 miles. IT has been my rock
It does not have a Corvette engine. The Corvette had a four bolt main and high flow aluminum cylinder heads and a more radical cam shaft. This LT one engine is a derivative but not the true LT one engine. What you have is a two bolt main detuned engine with iron cylinder heads and smaller valves and a mild cam shaft
@@blueboltstrike6705 those iron heads actually flow better than the aluminum heads did. The iron heads formed the basis for the later Vortec heads, which are Gen 1 heads that are considered to be the best flowing factory gen 1 heads made (they're way better than the old double hump / camelback / 'fuelie' 461/462/492/991 heads).
No V6 was available in any of these cars starting with 1989. The 4.3 liter engine was actually a V8.
Bitch there was an LS V6
There is no LS V6, try again. Also, we're not talking about the Holden derived cars.
+silicon212 thank you that's true
+Abdulmohsen Adel bruh you need to Google SoMe shit lol
What is the difference between, 91-92 ?
i want this car.
I got a 95 and it has a 5.7
how much
How much are you asking for the Caprice
how big are the rims? the aluminum rims
fraud revealer 17"
I have this same car year paint etc with red interior and most of all the 5.7 I got lucky
How much or how much down n a month
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Bring it to me!
The car is a Caprice. Capri was a Mercury.
Huh?
😋😍
Has this generation ever come in a 5-passenger configuration?
I just got a 93 Chevy caprice for a steal with only 63 thousand original miles 2 owners 1400 out the door. Oh yea an it's the 5.7l 👌
This looks like my caprice classic. I love it but thinking about selling it. It has a small v 8 engine Corvette in it. Less than 20000 miles on it
Hey what's the bolt pattern on your caprice rims is it 5x114.3 or smaller
my 95 has the 4.3
I can make driver seat into a bucket seat by cutting frame console off. I would throw floor shifter out camaro. Needs dark silver paint job and some gangster white walls.
وقفت ع الجرح
Wtf?
عزات والله
i dnt beleive thats the original paint lol
Sexy ride!
Caprice did not come with a v6
ونعم
I have a 94' with 87,000 miles please add me I have questions about upgrades
Why does he keep saying Capri and not Caprice?
the 1991-96 Chevrolet Caprice NEVER CAME WITH A V6!!!.... the 4.3 L is a V8!!.. google it if you don't believe me
this body style never had a v6 the 4.3 l99 v8 263 was the smallest engine available that came in these was a v8 yes a 4.3 263ci v8 dont@ me i litteraly own it. its litteraly identical to the lt1 with less stroke and bore same cam same heads same accessories and like 24 mpg.
اوف
4.3 v8 or 5.7 lt1
the 4.3 is a 5.7,but with 6 of the same sized cylnders.this vintage ss came with the 5.7 only,from 1994 to 1996.this vintage cap.came with 2 emgines,the 5.0,and the 5.7.
@@timothylines7115 Not this one. The L99 engine, otherwise known as the "Baby LT1", is a 4.3 liter V8 engine which resulted from taking a 305 and giving it a 3" stroke. The L99 4.3 is not a V6.
@@timothylines7115 no the 94 and up caprices had a 263 ci 4.3 v8 that is the smallest engine option no v6 they designed the l99 4.3 v8 for only caprices 94 through 96
Why is he saying "Capri" instead of "Caprice"?
A Capri was a Mercury.
never came with a v6
Nigga the Caprice 96 Came LS v6
+Abdulmohsen Adel I think all classics had 4.3 / 5.7 V8s
+Abdulmohsen Adel smh what a duMbass lol
@@ixiviatrxs7788 i litteraly own the car its called the l99 4.3 v8 it a 263 ci designed for only caprices 94/96 looks identical to the lt1 the only difference is less bore and stroke it has identical cams heads and intake as lt1 but smaller cylinders and stroke. their is no b body caprice roadmaster or that ever came with a v6 .
@@ixiviatrxs7788 ls wasn’t even invented yet lol. its a 4.3 263ci v8 looks identical to lt1 in every way but smaller 8 cylinder’s and leas stroke.
