One thing for certain, he shouldn't have gone for that horrible pawn structure, it really hampered him so much throughout the game. Couldn't even give a single check till the very last moments of the game, when he finally managed one ineffectual check. Game was already lost by then.
I think that the unprovoked bishop swap was Carlsen's overall strategy to oversimplifi position which caught Fedoseev off guard, who was expecting more complications. To me this is the genius of Carlsen: To know thy opponent!!
