Ellis knows what they are good at, and understand why people venture off the strip. Usually good food and great service, although I had a bad experience last time. I won't hold it against them this time, but I am hoping this doesn't happen again. Love the low limits and love the proximity to everything. Food is a great change up to the more expensive prices with other places.
Great video Aly! Definitely will have to check into staying there sometime. Love the location & Yes.. Sounds like you can't beat the food pricing or selection. Thanks for the great review!
We’ve gone to Vegas for 22 years and never knew about EI. Two days ago..We walked from TI and cut thru Linq…it got a bit sketchy but doable. The reviews for the fish and chips were great! Had the French onion soup and the fish and chips..HUGE portions 3 fillets…the best ever! Yes..worth the walk!

good to see the steak deal is not much more then I remember from 10 years ago. Ellis island is where smart people going to vegas stay, because it is a great value.
I'm torn about this video. On one hand I'm glad Ellis Island is getting due recognition...but on the other I don't want it to get too popular. I used to live about 2 miles east on Flamingo and it was one of my favorite spots. When I move back in a few months, being within one hour walking distance from the Ellis will be one of the considerations as to where I reside.
I, believe that the only strip hotel/casino, that doesn’t have a resort fee, is the Best Western-Casino Royale, across the street from the Mirage. By the way Ellis Island’s food specials are very good. The pizza place is very good, and has daily specials.
Most people (NY) dont eat pizza unless the kids are particularly fussy. Just a garbage meal to say you got something for dinner. Nothing I would order on vacation. Maybe at a ball game but not in a nice restaurant. Pizza is thought of similar to a taco. Yippie skippy.
I have stayed at Ellis Island many times; last visit in February 2022. Very decent place and overall good value. To get the free drinks at a slot machine, you will first need to buy one at the bar for $3, then 20 to 30 minutes later the cocktail waitress shows up to offer you another one. Otherwise, dont expect to have a cocktail server show up.
They 86'ed me for winning. So lame. I got two $4000 Royals within a couple of days and suddenly they don't want my action. Another problem. That is a bad neighborhood. You are probably OK walking from Flamingo, but DO NOT go exploring on foot. They did have good food and low limits. The video poker used to be good, but now it is so-so. The best game has a 99.45% return.
on average you're waiting 20 mins minimum at strip casinos to get someone to even ask you if you want a drink then another 10 mins minimum to actually get your drink. you should have asked a pit boss at roulette to send a worker over they will do so immediately
I'm a local and I take friends from out of town there for food, drinks and having a good time. Hard to beat those prices, and hanging out at the karaoke bar is always fun.
I had researched cheap meals, and this place came up for the steak and eggs breakfast, but when we looked at the menu, they also had prime rib for cheap. We decided to come back for dinner, and were glad we did. Amazing food at great prices. They even had a double cut of prime rib available, for what I normally pay for a single cut at home, but I would have needed a wheelbarrow to get out of the pub.
Not such a value anymore, costs more than some mid strip properties mid week, and a nearly $40 resort fee for this place is a bit ridiculous. In addition don’t even think about checking in before 3:00pm. The positives are the rooms though small and very basic are clean. Food is reasonably priced and good and there are 5 eateries in this tiny casino. The Front Yard is NOT an onsite brewery, the beer is brewed at a production facility. The beer is cheap though and it’s decent. Overall not a bad place to stay, but the price point that they’ve been at lately is just not justified based on what the property offers. You do get 2 free beers upon check in but you have to ask for the coupons. If you’re military or retired military get a players club card, you’ll get 1 free beer or root beer daily, as does your spouse. Be aware that the walk to the strip is about 15 minutes or so.
The rooms are very pricey now especially for the weekends. $170 a night??? Yikes! Not worth that in comparison to what you can get around town at that cost. Used to be affordable but not so much anymore.
Never again. Came in from Houston this morning, I am a first responder and work at night. They want to charge me $50 to check in early. I have been coming to Vegas for 30 years and have never been charged for that.
Always stop here to eat. Everything is good. My fave is the fish n chips. Games are way better than the strip, only place with $5 craps. One of the last remaining places in Vegas that still takes care of their customers with great value and quality.
Awesome food and customer service but be careful in this particular area... I was haggled by some stranger exiting the casino who tried following me back to my hotel room...
Another important bit of advice is that if you're firing $5 through the machines to get $2 off the steak special, make sure you do it before midnight. Every time I've done that after midnight, the coupon doesn't show up and I've had to talk to the late night manager who can be tough to find some nights. Great video! I ❤ Ellis Island! 😀
The best boss Las Vegas ever had was Bill Bennet at Circus Circus. Period. His secret was cheap rooms cheap booze cheap food and cheap table games and last treat your employees like the assets they are and the people and money will come. Ellis Island has that spirit.
I don't get it you're going to one of the most expensive places on the planet and you're obsessed with finding something "Cheap" just stay home and go to Applebees.
When I used to live in Las Vegas went to Ellis Island quite a few times for meals. The casino didn't have a craps table at that time. The food was really good at Ellis Island. The Maxim across Flamingo Rd., not there anymore, was good too. Also liked the buffett at Sam's Town.
@@adeader2878 It also depends on the specific weekend. They all have calendars and all raise their prices together. I love Ellis Island. I won a ton of money on the video poker. The Prime Rib is amazing and the Cheesecake is the best ever! I stayed in the hotel on a 120 degree day and it was 60 degrees. Great for budget travlers.
I absolutely love their prime rib. Excellent for the price (under $20) and comes with salad, green beans, and your choice of potato. Can't remember if it comes with a bread. Beer or root beer (made in house) used to be included in the price but no longer. I don't like beer myself but I hear it's really good. I like their root beer. Their cheesecake is fantastic. I'm usually too full to eat it after a meal but I order a piece to go, take it back to my room, and have it for a late night snack. The rooms are nothing fancy but I don't need fancy. They're clean, comfortable, have a good TV, a good safe, and a little refrigerator. I've paid more for places with fewer amenities. The staff is pleasant and helpful. The vending machines (snacks and drinks) work. I've always felt safe there. I like to stay there at the end of my trip. It's easy to get a ride share and if my knees and feet are hating me, some of my favorite places to eat are a short walk across the parking lot. Security is there 24/7. In addition to the Cafe, there's the BBQ restaurant and a sandwich place that's surprisingly good. It's also pretty close to the airport, costing about $15 with a ride share.
My wife and I had the breakfast special and it was very good. For being a small casino, the atmosphere was great. The only drawback was that the restrooms were poorly maintained. They were small, there were no paper towels to dry your hands and the counter tops were wet. I hope that management takes note and makes the necessary improvements.
We go to Vegas just about every year. We have friends out west that drive down to Vegas the same week. The four of us first discovered Ellis Island around ten years or more ago, I think. Our friends drove us there, they'd found mention of the place somewhere. They were always looking for interesting, off the mainstream, restaurants. The thing is, the main attraction, the reason the article they saw was written, the reason we went there, and have continued going back every time we're in Vegas, was for something not covered here. The RIBS! I'm not even a ribs eating person, generally. I had them there, begrudgingly, the first time, because everyone else wanted to go there, and that's pretty much all that restaurant served (the BBQ place in Ellis Island, which has changed some since then). It's pretty much the only place I'll actually order ribs, they are that good. I still remember that first meal, the table went completely silent, because everyone was focused on the ribs. We explored a few other off the beaten path BBQ places around Vegas (away from the strip, totally) in the next few years after that first Ellis Island visit. But, we keep coming back to Ellis. Going there has become as mandatory as seeing the Bellagio fountain show or the MGM lions (that she just HAS to take a picture of, on every visit). Or going to Fremont. Also doesn't hurt that they have their own brewery on premises.
Have you stayed at the new Palms Casino Resort yet? I'm a local, so they gave me a free buffet for signing up with their player's club. After gambling a bit (I'm a LOW roller), they gave me one comped night and some free play. I haven't used the free room yet, but I'm very impressed with their generosity so far. No other Las Vegas casino has ever offered me a free room, probably because I don't gamble enough. I do get comped nights in Reno, though. 😁
We have. It's very nice -great restaurants and slot machines. Plus, for new enrollees, the Palms will tier match your players' club status from other properties.
I had seen many people talk about EI, but I didn't know EI was actually a hotel and casino until this video. I thought it was a restaurant at NYNY! I will check it out next time I am there.
LOVE Ellis Island....have stayed there six times in the past 10 years....always take ground floor for my dog....the food and beer is one of if not the best deal near or even on the strip...walk to the strip is not that bad ....except in summer ....call a Taxi...experience Vegas without breaking the bank,,,Ellis Island the smart choice....
We recnetly walked over there from Flamingo, not a long walk. The Breakfast special was out of this world. We looked around the Casino and were surprised at the decent odds on BJ, and the lower limits. Our group generally play much higher limits. We actually had a host visit our table at breakfast. I doubt we would stay there, but I am certail we would gamble there! Seemed like a great BJ and Craps environment. Their dealers were good, no mistakes, and they moved the game along. This spring trip we will do some gambling there for sure.
Some of the best dealers you will see.....My crew is always friendly....I get great help because, my dealers keep their own tips, what ever you tip them they take home, they don't have to share with any other dealer, that is way they are so friendly and work so hard, I am very proud of my fellow employees.
👍👍We stay, play, visit, eat and drink at Ellis Island. Nice, accurate review. Thanks. Even if we are staying at the Tuscany, Flamingo, or Platinum, our first stop is to get an IPA from Suzy at the Ellis Island Brew Pub🍻🍻, the best brew pub in Las Vegas.
My friend moved to LV and took me to EI to check it out. He insisted we do the bbq and now I make sure I visit every trip. The low limit table games are great too
Ellis island is certainly taking advantage of there little bump in popularity, stayed there in March 2022 and at that time it was a very good deal and the cafe and BBQ are worth the price…. Came back out June of 2022 and enjoyed my stay so much stayed at Ellis island again, cafe was good, BBQ still good but definitely could tell beer garden was busier as well as bar. Beer garden bartenders for some reason always a little rude or maybe stuck up for some reason…. As for not paying for drinks just walk up and order a drink and walk away to a slot machine… The bartender will not question it but service will be slow…. Going back to Vegas in December of 2022 and once again tried to boom at Ellis island, and prices have gone way up… First off to charge resort fees in that place is a crime in itself, they wanted over a $100 per night or the avg came out to like $120 per night over a 10 night stay…. So I’m staying at the Orleans this time around, I’ve played poker there before “that’s actually why i go to Vegas” and I got a room for much cheaper, I sure the restaurants will be a bit more but they have a much better selection as well as a nice steakhouse… to put the cost in comparison South Point was actually cheaper, and South Point has drop dead views of the mountain range, and the only reason I didn’t stay there was 4 days were blocked out and I wasn’t gonna hop hotels…. So yes Ellis island is cheaper but definitely knew they were getting some Recognition and hiked there $$$$ PS the 7/11 1/2 block away is also nice
Hi Aly..., Excellent video and very informative and "One Cheap Place." If your wallet is tight or on a tight monthly budget and in Las Vegas..., this is the place to be. Excellent video, and thank you for sharing the video... * Aly..., you are bright, intelligent, and attractive... " Semper Fi " Mike in Montana :)
FYI the "pizza joint" is actually Metro Pizza, which probably is the best pizza in Vegas. Especially so if you like New York style. Every time we are there we go to their main location on Tropicana near UNLV. If the one at this casino is anything like the restaurant we go to, the pizza should be excellent.
Just found your channel. Excellent and very accurate review of Ellis Island. I've had the pizza there and fish n chips...both excellent. Subscribed and looking forward to your videos.
My husband and I lived in Vegas for a year in 2022, we were treated like VIPs at Ellis Island and Boulder Station casino. We would sit down to play and a host would come over and give us free dinner comps. At Boulder Station it was always for their steakhouse, $ 300.00 dollar meal for 2. If you are noticed at a casino on a regular basis they will treat you well, off strip casinos mostly.
Great review Aly. I always get over to Ellis when I'm in Vegas. Usually have that steak & eggs breakfast and play $5 blackjack @ 4-5 AM, I've always gotten a seat. Next time you go try that BBQ it is awesome
Everytime we have been in Vegas we go to Ellis island for breakfast every morning and do the ribs dinner. The ribs are wet with sauce and cooked perfectly everytime. We stay at Bally's so it's a short walk to Ellis island.
Ellis Island isn't "cheap" it's inexpensive and offers the guest value for the money the spend. When I lived in Las Vegas back in the 90's it was my go to spot for an early morning breakfast after clubbing at Utopia on the Strip. If Value is what you want in Las Vegas, Ellis Island should be a consideration. The Best Steak House in Las Vegas isn't in a casino.
ellis is one of the best , alex is the best waiter ever , jackie is an awesome sexy security guard, the food is top notch , best value in vegas period ! oh and 2$ 20oz beers

Loved your Vlog great job ❤from England 🏴
How come I’m not appreciated ? 😞
I appreciate you!
Your teeth are so white!
Does it have poker?
We're planning on having dinner there in about two weeks and are staying about a block down Koval Ln. Is it ok to walk along there at night?
Most people choose to take a taxi/Uber once it's dark
Aly you get a free steak dinner when you sign up at the players club. Also drink service is usually always great
Hmm, my husband signed up too and only got the discount.
I haven't yet but that sounds fantastic! Definitely need to check it out now
We have. It's very nice -great restaurants and slot machines. Plus, for new enrollees, the Palms will tier match your players' club status from other properties.
I LOVE ellis
Ellis island has a resort fee? It's not a resort!! Not even close!! Been there to gamble and eat but it's not a resort by any means.
I know right, ugh!
Very nice of you
I had seen many people talk about EI, but I didn't know EI was actually a hotel and casino until this video. I thought it was a restaurant at NYNY! I will check it out next time I am there.
Great review of Ellis Island. Have always been curious of that place. Nice work and great video.
Thanks for watching!
The low limit table games are great too
I have BBQ twice a week, I work there. Totally worth it
@@SeaYaSailing what do they charge for the bbq now? I haven't been in a while. I usually get a coupon from a newsletter

Usually have that steak & eggs
breakfast and play $5 blackjack @ 4-5 AM, I've always gotten a seat. Next time you go try that BBQ it is awesome
And they have Super Triple Play bartop machines, which is pretty rare in Vegas.
Great food! Every visit (yearly) we eat here once, never disappointed! Gaming is ok, just gaming.
Great place for locals. Reasonable hotel/food/beverages prices. 🥩🍔🍺🍹☕️🏢
