The total distance covered by the flights is 1.7 miles, which is about the same length as the runway at Edinburgh airport. The record for the fastest flight is 53 seconds.

Hi Andrew. DW Brasil (brazilian department of the german news outlet Deutsche Welle) here. We are interested in using your video on an explainer about commercial flights. Of course with a credit back to you. Would this be ok? Thank you.
The Orkneys (and the Shetlands) are some of the best places to visit in Scotland. The people are laid back, the pace is slower and the landscapes are incredible.
Stall warning horn. It lets the pilot know when the wing is at an angle of attack that will cause it to stop flying. That's sometimes a bad thing, but right before landing the pilot is actually intentionally stalling the plane and dropping it softly onto the runway.
Great video! There used to be a flight from Ohio over to Put-In-Bay on a Ford Tri-Motor that was very short. It would have a passenger sit in the co-pilot seat and a folding chair by the exit door. Great fun.
The reason for this flight is that it is a round trip from and to Kirkwall, connecting these two islands with a larger island in one go. Operated by Loganair.
Amazing! The scenery is beautiful The island is tiny though.. Looks the size of an average farm... Is there something to see there? I see only seven or 8 dwellings
Hi Andrew - I'm with the news agency Storyful. Would it be okay for our news partners to use this in broadcasts or websites with credit to you, as per storyful.com/clearance? Thanks!
Camera takes around 25 photos a second normally, so thus once the propeller is spinning at a certain speed it looks like it's not moving. You can also do this trick with a rubber band in from of a old CRTV and it looks like a sine wave.
Looks like a Cessna Skyhawk, not an Islander, by the shadows cast. I sat beside the pilot of a Loganair flight back in April 2000 from Pappy (as they call it locally) to Kirkwall. Watch the sea lions swimming along the bottom about 30 ft under water, from 2000 ft, during the 27 mile flight. A peaceful island with charming people. DON'T lock your car if you take it by ferry. You'll insult the locals. During my 5 week stay I stood for an hour under a green Aurora Borealis. An enchanting night.
Looks like you got an answer, just at the wrong comment o_0 Look three comments down, and fold'em out. I would agree though! A small semi-submersible ferry capable of taking a lot of tourists and bikes, maybe even a car or two. Edit: I'll be damned, they've got lots of ferries! Look at google maps.
Hi Andrew, Interested in using your video within a tourism app for Scotland. Would this be okay with you? We can credit you and link back to your youtube channel. Thanks
Sigh. Standing (yes, I stand) at my iMac watching this swooped me out of my NYC reality for 2.35 secs, and I'm still feeling the beneficial effects. Thanks. And thanks to Dan Lewis for his Now I Know daily email.
Probably the fastest way to reach the destination, however it's everything but a green solution. Hopefully in the very near future a solution like SeaBubbles or similar, powered by wind/sunlight/hydrogen will replace this expensive and polluting way of travel. A few minutes more, but without pollution would be an acceptable alternative.
Jokes suitable for this video. 1. Do they show movies on this flight? 2. No meals ? what do you mean. 3. I watched the whole flight.... Here is the place for laughs... ha ha, he he
Welcome aboard and thanks for flying with Logan Air, before we arrive-
Please fasten your seatbelts as we are about to arrive.
LOL
Dude😂😂😂😂😂😂
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA
@@iLeoVlogs wow what are you doing here mate
🤣🤣🤣
Did you have to check in an hour before takeoff...
caleedium same question here
Swimming there would probably be quicker
Hazzer hahaha
No, it's 5 min before takeoff
@@Hazaroth no this flight is about 53 seconds so unless you can swim in under 52 seconds this is the fastest way to go
The plane takes off from right beside my dad's house
How's the jet-lag? ;-)
The total distance covered by the flights is 1.7 miles, which is about the same length as the runway at Edinburgh airport. The record for the fastest flight is 53 seconds.
Bro I walk that in 15 minutes… crazy!

What a imagination!
Loveee this lol
I wonder if they serve a 🤏 meal onboard. 😂
'Loganair cleared for takeoff'
'Loganair cleared for landing'
I wonder how quick Concorde could do this flight?
+Josh G It was clearly a joke, but most of this flight is over water...
"Welcome to this Loganair flight" tick tock tick tock "Thankyou for flying with Loganair today".
Sionet 72 on the plus side it would take you right to the hotel
James Christmas Concorde will be slower...
FlightSimMovie yep. Also, it wouldnt even make it off the runway as takeoff speed is way too high.
Hi Andrew. DW Brasil (brazilian department of the german news outlet Deutsche Welle) here. We are interested in using your video on an explainer about commercial flights. Of course with a credit back to you. Would this be ok? Thank you.
What's the popular in-flight meal?
1/2e snickers
Kyoung-Kyoon Choi nah man 1 peanut and a piece of candy (candy is optional).
SupercarsGaloreCA 1 pipette full of a drink of your choice and one chunk of a chocolate bar.
Kyoung-Kyoon Choi one raisin...
An african cuisine

HALF AS INTERESTING brought me here 🛫⛰
A very good flight for those afraid of flying.
Does the a380 use this route as well?
Yeah, the government is hiding the fact that they use the A380 every day on this flight, just sad that the government tries to hide the fact
Nah, the A380 doesn't have enough range, they need to use a Boeing 777-200LR.
Forza Aviation I think they still have to stop in between to refuel though
Forza Aviation dumb fuck, they use 787's for this route
An antonov 225 comes around twice a day
Glad you liked it. Under the wing - suction pad essentially
Beautifully serene lands. That water looks magnificent as well.

I'd swim.
did it had WiFi onboard as to see a movie??
Or a toilet
You probably wouldn’t lose cell reception if there even is a cell phone tower on the island
To see 0.173622228 of a movie yes
@@cesarperez970 I’m a little late but there is
Also incredibly interesting: watching the framerate sync between the camera and propeller.

How many frequent flyer points and status credits?? :-))
John Leslie you got 1 point for every 1.000 trip in a day. LOL
Finally! Somebody has filmed this! Or maybe I just couldn't find it until 9 years later. I liked and subbed.

U wait 47 secs more
well, shit happens :)
Hold ur pee
You jump out the window, Gould’s shit yourself on that way down
Imagine getting payed for piloting a 53 second flight.
Paid*

Absolutely endearing :o) ... GREAT filming too ... thank you!
My pleasure. And my love to Edinburgh, where I had the pleasure of performing in 2010 for the Fringe Festival month.
My kids would still be doing the "Are we there yet are we there yet?" thing
b38alb, I really enjoyed that. Thank you for sharing it with all of us.

Hahahaha that is a different account
0:17 (takeoff)
1:50 (landing)
Do you perform the landing checklist before or during takeoff? :)
Thanks! This is great to see.
This area needs hyperloop. Reduce a dreaded 1 minute flight to just 5 seconds!
damn 1.7 miles in 5 seconds, bros doing mach 1.6
Wow, no "screaming babies" soundtrack either! I'm sure the pilots have had some close calls over the years.

Haha, nice!! I want to take this flight, just because it's great. I thought a meal should be included ;)
If you're diligent about it, you can become a member of the 'Hundred-Yard-High Club'...which is what we Yanks call a 'quickie'. Git-R-Duuuuun!
One of my all-time fave vids! Business trip?
That was one nice landing
Seems much better than my 1h+ train commute!
Well, at least I get to see nice sunrises by the mediterranean sea...
What....no in-flight movie? Cool route!
I bet flaps controller is a bit rusty on those planes, lol
What....flaps???😮😮
ゴーストフライトが増えているという記事を見ていたらここにたどり着きました。風向き次第では最短47秒らしいですね。歩いて行こう。
Why not a speed boat?
@1:47 - do I hear the ice-cream van?!
1:47
I really enjoyed that! thanks for posting that!
Was on that flight once. Had to *GO AROUND 5 TIMES!*
Did they file a flight plan?
Yep. Or at least I think so.
Happyster101 lmaoo there must be a lot of traffic at that airport
Eh, not really. More like our pilots couldn't rly land there :\+Da Tube
Happyster101 How bad were the winds?
better for me to swim or by speedboat...the water is calm...greetings from Indonesia

Can someone explain to me why they don't use a ferry or a bridge between these islands?
Looks like you got an answer, just at the wrong comment o_0 Look three comments down, and fold'em out.
I would agree though! A small semi-submersible ferry capable of taking a lot of tourists and bikes, maybe even a car or two.

because they can.
stressball it’s very shallow water so a ferry would be not the best idea. And a bridge would cost to much because only around 100 people live there.
By the looks of it, it seems that the water might be too contaminated or dirty for any sort of vehicular travel or self travel.
I could use my phone and send messages, like, the plane doesn’t even get that high
Guess in which second was the auto-pilot turned on and off?
How many Delta Sky Miles do I get for this flight?
Is there a layover in this flight?
Why they don't use a boat instead? Thanks
The ad at the beginning was longer than the plane flight.
isin't there any ferry services or a bridge connecting these two island??
Stupid question, but why is this trip a flight and not a ferry?
Thanks for the comment which made my day - a rainy one in Edinburgh!

Did they serve drinks, lunch, dinner, peanuts, pretzels?
Who came here after watching "Aero por trás da aviação"?
Me
I wonder if a drone can do the same distance. It’s only 2.7 km
So where is the aiRport? Thats a cabin and a backyard
What plane? Is this for an airline? What is it for?
Do you get an inflight meal ?
I got a huge buffet
Aye, a Mars bar.
It would be a new reccord for the mile high club
Do you serve dinner on the flight?
0:20 takeoff 1:48 Landing
first class must be amazing
Yeah, but do you still have to wait an hour in the security line?
Was there any in-flight snacks?
Sigh. Standing (yes, I stand) at my iMac watching this swooped me out of my NYC reality for 2.35 secs, and I'm still feeling the beneficial effects. Thanks. And thanks to Dan Lewis for his Now I Know daily email.
Do they serve a full lunch? Would love to earn miles with this.
wait. it wasnt raining? in Scotland?
That's awesome! I really want to go on that! Where is that?
Orkney Islands in Scotland
Gee, no scones w/clotted cream for a "snack"? What is the fare? Note the CFR trucxk, pretty safe and classy.
Why not have ferries service the route?

Do they offer in-flight meals?
Would people actually swim?
Like I would never but I’m sure someone has tried it right?
Do they offer in flight meals?
I wonder how much the flight costs ?
I wonder if jet lag is an issue with this flight? ;)
Maybe i should drive there and take the flight
Is all this traffic from know you know?
Can you do the same route backwards, like Mater?
How much is the ticket one way?
the jet lag must be awful...
This is a route for the a380.
The flight was actually 91 seconds wheels off to wheels on. Nice exaggeration though.
Jokes suitable for this video.
1. Do they show movies on this flight?
2. No meals ? what do you mean.
3. I watched the whole flight....
Here is the place for laughs... ha ha, he he
wow, full flight video on youtube !
How much is this flight?
14 pounds
DarkReality like 30 USD
like 250 Swedish kronor
like 700 ottman silver
SeabasR srsly, domestic flight here in the Philippines are 20 dollars cheap
What's the movie on board?
and theyve been planning to build a bridge for over 30 years but hey this is more epic
Would not a 12' Aluminum Boat and a 10 Horse Outboard got you there ? Maybe a little longer trip..but cheaper for Fuel !
